The one that I got does, I don't know if the backlit keyboard only comes with particular specs or not, but I'm relatively confident that they all have the backlit keyboard. However, you can toggle it on and off so if you don't want the keyboard light on, you can keep it off (it comes to you with no backlight out-of-the-box.)

So does this come with the 2nd SLI card? Or does this need to be bought seperately?

Yes, it does comes with the second SLI card. However, because of this second graphic card, there is no space for the an extra bay for optical drive or SSD.

The trick of this model is that it does comes with a SSD but this SSD is only for Intel RST. I do tweak it and place the Windows 8.1 inside this little tiny SSD. The free space run out in one week. lol
Plus, the SSD is not a regular SSD, but a NGFF SSD. The largest volume for this type of SSD is 128G. If you wanna a larger SSD, you need to replace your hard drive.

p.s.
You also need to update the Graphic Card BIOS to make SLI work under Windows 8.1 (The model comes with Windows 8, activated by its Motherboard so no key is provided).

how do i open the cd drive to put games in?

Well, unfortunately, you can't. One of the graphics cards is in the ultrabay slot that the cd drive would be in. You'd have to remove the graphics card and buy an optical drive that works. I, Personally think you'd be better off just getting an external optical drive for CDs. But I don't know too much about the tech, so that's all the info can offer. Hope I helped out, happy shopping!

My question is with the graphics card. It says 2gb memory. Is that total or per card?

I was sure about the answer being 2gb per card, so I did some research to find an absolute answer. The answer is yes, it is 2gb PER card, for a total of 4gb of video memory. Here is a quote from a review done on the machine: "Powering this screen is a Class 1 dual NVidia GeForce GT 750M on SLI mode with 2GB dedicated video RAM for each card." I have owned this laptop a couple weeks now, and I've had zero problems running World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Battlefield, and many other games all on ultra settings, most games perform in the 30+ fps range, with some performing in the 50+(like WoW and Diablo 3). The only thing I would suggest is to get a cooling pad for underneath, running SLI for both cards and stressing it running ultra on everything ramps up temps to 60-75c ranges, which can get quite warm. I haven't had any issues at all with it though, and I am loving it!

So I've never bought a lenovo before and I want to know if it's a trusted brand. Also I was reading a couple reviews on thus machine and saw something about the upgradable port, is this where the second graphics card was placed? Or is this just a myth I came across? I also intend to use it for school purposes and was wondering how office ran on it as well has the longevity of the laptop when using it everyday?

Lenovo is the new name for IBM so they have been around for a while and I'd say more worthy of trust than other top competitors. The port is where the second graphics card is which it doesn't need but with the second card this puppy can run battle field 4 on ultra at 30-40 fps which is pretty kick a**. It will run office like it wasn't even there, heck you could have countless other programs running and watch a movie on a second screen and office would be smooth as silk. As for the last question you can activate power saver mode and pull around 3 hrs of non gaming usage out of the battery, Lenovo also has an awesome moving parts lockup connected to an accelerometer so if you drop it while it's running, before it hits the ground, the system locks up all moving parts to prevent serious damage upon impact.

Hope this helps, this is a good laptop at a good price.
Only thing I'd recommend would be an upgrade to the internal ssd 20gigs is not enough for practical use, also if your going to game on it pick up a USB laptop cooling pad

I didn't crack open the case to see if there is internal space for another drive, but I can tell you that as configured, it has the second graphics adapter occupying the pluggable drive bay where the DVD would normally be.

My main activities on a computer are email, netflix, youtube, web surfing and playing WoW/Rift.  How necessary is it to purchase this laptop with an SSD?  How will the addition or lack of an SSD effect my WoW/Rift gaming experience?

Looking to replace a desktop that is running an Intel Duo and Nvidia GTX550 TI vid card with 4Gb Ram.

Since I have had the laptop, I am completely satisfied with my purchase.  The SSD is more of a caching drive than storage.  The boot time from cold boot is very quick and programs load without long delays.

As far as gaming, I primarily play WoW, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.  I am able to raid 25 mans on high settings, although I put shadows to low because it does drop the game about 10-15 fps.  Load times are great, not too bad because the 16 GB of RAM really help.  Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 play great with optimal graphics.  I haven't noticed the SSD effecting gaming as much because the games are saved to the HDD.  IF the SSD does effect the gaming, it might be with load times once the games are being played, but overall I have no problems with this laptop and gaming.

If you are looking for a laptop to use primarily for email, netflix, youtube or surfing the web, this laptop is overkill for that.  This is a decent laptop for the price, I had my doubts at the beginning, but now I am overwhelmed with how the laptop is performing.
