Is the battery easily removable? Or do you need to open the case in order to remove it?

Accepted Answer

Battery is internal but removeable. All screws are easily accessible but are tilted at an angle. Be careful when extracting the screws as you can strip them if you don't realize they don't go straight in. Also, after all screws are removed, you have to lift gently as it still hangs on via plastic tabs in the back where there are two "grills" (I use quotations because they are purely decorative and offer not venting). At which point battery is removable via a standard cable clip mechanism.

is the external cd cumbersome?

Personally, I like that it comes with an external bay because the laptop looks a lot slimmer and light weight without it.  I also don't find the external bay not to cumbersome because it is very light weight and can be easily tucked away into a side sleeve. Furthermore, With so many online choices for viewing movies and videos, and also gaming is done via Steam, I rarely have the need for a DVD rom drive.

Is there a LAN port on this Laptop and what type of port is it?

Does this model have the 720p webcam?  It's not listed in the specs. Thanks.

Yes, it has a webcam. Don't know why they don't give all of the information on a PC as it helps to sell the product. I also wanted more USB ports but couldn't find that information either. The Windows 8.1 touch screen doesn't support some older games that you may like.

What test can I do to show that mines came with 4GB GDDR5? So far its seeming like mines is 2GB but the 4GB is what I ordered. Thanks

Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.

Click Advanced settings, and then click the Adapter tab.

This is where you can see details about your video card, including what kind of video card your computer has.

Does this have an IPS screen?

Yes and it is very very nice. Color representation is very accurate, and dark colors/blacks well represented, even at maximum brightness. Definitely better than Acer's competing brand, Nitro (which can be too dark in some places, and struggles with some color representation) and heads above the Y50 series screen, which is a TN display I believe.

Does this include a DVD disc drive?  Specs say it does, but some reviews (offsite) say it doesn't.

out of the box it is Windows 8 64 bit. not 8.1.

Does anyone know if this 4gb 860m is based on kepler or maxwell architecture? The gpu code should be GM107 if its maxwell.
