5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU Cooler!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Awesome and affordable CPU cooler! Has kept my FX-8350 substantially cooler than stock (and is most definitely quieter).

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Quiet
Lower CPU temperature
Overall great product

Cons: This isn't really a con, but the instructions were not the best when installing. I just found some videos on how to install the CPU heatsink. The heatsink/fan itself is great.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic! Would Pay More.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Overall great heat-sink and fan.
* Reduced my temps SIGNIFICANTLY.
* 2100 RPM fan (but only needs 1500 when CPU/GPU maxed).
* Works on most boards, so it may work on your next one.

Cons: Typical Cons for Vertical Coolers:
* A little harder to install than any of the other 4 after-market CPU coolers I've ever bought, due to the mounting screws' distance from tall heat-sink.
* High weight and center of gravity make me paranoid that it will pull away from CPU, hasn't happened in my two days of use.
* Worried about under-tightened screws leading to sagging, but over-tightened ones cracking MB.
* Egg-Saver (Free) Shipping took 7 BUSINESS days to go from TN to Seattle. (Worked out because I am able to compare stock cooler below.)

Other Thoughts: Stash the stock cooler. Get this one! Unless you're considering water-cooling, quit wasting your time researching coolers and get this one.
* OC'd i5 4690k @ 4.5Ghz, 1.3 VCore
* Room temp: 20c (68F)
* Idling temps with 4 case fans maxed:
* Stock heat-sink: 32c
* CM 212 EVO: 25c
* Maxed CPU/GPU with 4 case fans maxed:
* Stock heat-sink: Throttles within 30 seconds (Even at stock 3.5Ghz speed)
* CM 212 EVO: 68c max after many hours of simultaneous multi-component burn-in (CPU/GPU/RAM).
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 (Not good for optimal negative pressure air flow (holes everywhere), but it ended up being a non-issue!)

5 out of 5 eggshyper 212 evo

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Cooling is great. I have a i7 4790k. idle temp is about 25 celcius and gaming is about 45. Stress testing using aid64 the temps max out at 60. I bought a gammaxx deepcool 400 for $15 here. The hyper 212 evo is about 10 degrees cooler. I didnt buy it at newegg. I bought it at a local computer shop where it was on sale. Easy installation. Fan mounts really simple.

Cons: i have a msi z97 g55 sli motherboard and gskill ripjaw ram. The fan will block the first slot but u can move the fan up slightly and there is clearence. Just make sure your case is big enough because even though the cooler is 159 mm its more than that when you move the fan up. When u move the fan up the temps dont change. Also the cooler will twist a little if u try to move it even when the cooler is fully secure and the screws are tight. Coolermaster said this normal.

Other Thoughts: Has a bracket for another 120mm fan. I added an additional fan for a push pull setup but didnt notice any difference in temperatures so i removed it for less noise.

5 out of 5 eggsGet this cooler!!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: So I bought this cooler, because the stock one that came with my AMD FX 8350 was not up to the challenge of rendering H.264 in Adobe Premiere Pro. That one got really loud, and the CPU still got really hot, like 65-70 degrees hot.

So I bought this one, and it's AWESOME. First of all, it's pretty quiet under load. It was going at 900RPM when idling and it was about the same loudness as my old one. But when I started rendering, Speccy said the fan was going up to 1500RPM but I couldn't hear the difference! It sounded just as quiet as before.

Not only that, but with the stock FX 8350 cooler I was idling around 30 and under load reaching 60+ degrees. With this, I am idling around 9 degrees and under load am at 38 degrees.

Simply amazing difference, the stock AMD FX 8350 cooler is so terrible! And this one is so good!

Cons: This thing is pretty big man. I have a Rosewill Thor V2 case and an ASUS 990 FX R2.0 motherboard so I didn't have any problems with space, but I imagine those with smaller cases won't have such an easy time.

A lot of reviews say the instructions are confusing. I didn't find them confusing, but I did find it easy to miss some small details. I didn't understand initially that the screws on the retention plate need to be adjusted slightly to fit the AMD configuration, so I was not understanding why the screws weren't lining up with the stand-offs until I scrutinized the instructions.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am looking at about a 20 degree difference after installing this cooler. For the price, that is GREAT.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: - Quality
- Nice fan
- YouTube videos make this thing a breeze to install... ... ...yeah right.

Cons: - AMD mobo installation was difficult.
- Aluminum layers bend kinda of easy especially during install
- Takes a good amount of space, height-wise.
- Assembly was easy but putting it on the processor was a pain (bolting it down).
- Didn't seem to cool that efficiently (should have went with stock fan and saved $35)

Other Thoughts: Installing the components onto the motherboard was easy. Bolting this thing down on top of your processor was hard. What would happen is I would bolt one corner down and the corner opposite of that would stick right up. It would not go into the hole. It would stay straight up. I had to force it in which cause the thermal paste to spread everywhere. My processor ejected twice during the process. Some of the aluminum layers bent in the process. Had to force it on (use a lot of strength) and bolt it down that way. The thing is sitting loose inside my case. I'm not even sure it is working properly as my temps are averaging 35-40 C and it's an AMD dual core processor. EVO 212 never again!

2 out of 5 eggsDifficult to install

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Very large fan, Good construction

Cons: What a pain to install!!! The way that the fan is attached to the motherboard is not well thought out. Very difficult to attach the holding bracket to the fan base which then is attached to the MB

Manufacturer Response:
