4 out of 5 eggslooks great, install carefully

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: So it looks imposing: ie., install this in a full ATX case. I'm going by the other comments here and will assume it will work well. Once you figure out the installation, it actually comes together without much trouble.

Cons: The instructions are not very good. They should make key portions clearer. Also, install this thing while the mobo is out of the case. I can't stress that enough. Everything is loose until you tie it all down towards the end. Finally, don't apply the thermal paste at the beginning like the steps suggest. Do it right at the end once you've figured everything out.

Other Thoughts: If you have a full ATX case, the mobo is out of the case and you read the instructions a few times, you should be fine installing this thing. Go for it, it looks great and is reasonably priced.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Keeps everything way cool. Temps haven't gone above 40 degrees Celsius.

Cons: It was larger than I anticipated so it lightly scratched my case window. But really, that's not a big deal.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well - But, Be Careful

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Does a good job of lowering temp over the stock sink/fan.

Cons: Maybe not an actual con but, the screws can be somewhat easily broken if tightened a little too much. Been there - done that!

Other Thoughts: IMO, you can't go wrong in buying anything from these N.E folks - my experiences, including returning items, has been first rate.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Effective cooling - Keeps i5 4790K below 70C at 4.5 ghz
Easy installation

Cons: Large size, but fit Corsair Carbide 500R case with no problems
Price?

Other Thoughts: This went into the second PC I've built and I wanted something reliable and proven, even as I explored overclocking for the first time. There might have been cheaper options out there but I'm not a super enthusiast so I needed that peace of mind. Installed this on an Asus Z97-A mobo in a Corsair Carbide 500R with no issues whatsoever.

I reserve 5-egg ratings for perfection. This cooler isn't perfect but it's very close. Would recommend, especially to those who aren't sure what they need in a cooler. This one works.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but fan died

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Its all around a very good heatsink. Cools my AMD 8350 and AMD 6300 in the 30s on idle, 50s under load.

Cons: I bought two of these so far. Nothing to say about the 1st one. After more than a year, still perform well.
The 2nd one however...The fan died within 24 hours. Just stopped spinning. Tried on different pins on the board, also tried it in a different machine. The fan just wont start.

Other Thoughts: I did not RMA because i had spare 120mm fans, Theyre worth like 8$ each. The Heatsink itself is flawless and I didnt feel like taking the whole PC apart, removing the MB backplate and putting back together the stock heatsink.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat at cooling your CPU, though fan might not be the longest-lived component

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Great at cooling my CPU, keeps my temps extremely low. Customer support from Cooler Master was, at least in my case, quite good.

Cons: I installed this in September 2014 (so, eight months ago), and I'd been using it without complaint for a few months when the fan started making some horrible noises and was noticeably hesitant to spin manually after I'd powered down to investigate. I opened it up and put in some machine oil and it worked quite well again for awhile, until the perhaps-inevitable return today of the horrible noises. Some more machine oil fixed it up for now but I've already ordered a replacement.

Cooler Master support was friendly about it, and offered an RMA on the whole device, though that'd mean having my main desktop shut down for at least a week while waiting for the replacement. I decided to just replace the fan myself, instead. Apparently, Cooler Master used to provide a "parts replacement" for the Hyper 212 Evo series, but apparently some folks were abusing that system to get a "free push pull configuration," whatever that is. So a full RMA process is all you're likely to get if you develop similar problems.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely huge, though that doesn't seem to be uncommon nowadays.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but installation issues

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Simple and allows you to have 2 fans installed

Cons: Installing was not that simple. It provides 2 types of connectors, the manual doesn't specify which one to use for LGA 2011 mobo. You need to use the short ones. These screws connect to the mobo.

Bracket is lose, so you have to align it when installing. The problem is when you place the HS on top of the CPU, it moves a bit when installing it. Also you have to align it perfectly. Do install it before you place the mobo in the case

Also, the screws in the bracket move depending on the mobo. Somehow they tend to move a bit while trying to install it.

Other Thoughts: Had to try 3 times before it was in place. Practice the installation before applying thermal paste
