LG BH4120S 5.1 Blu-Ray Home Cinema System

Pros: Great blu-ray player, and surround sound works for blu-ray and fm.

Cons: Lousy home theater system, due to having only composite audio out, nothing digital. My flat screen has spdif output, which is useless with this LG system. Using headphone out, I can only use left and right speakers, no surround sound.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had researched this item more thoroughly.

Pros: 5.1 channel surround, great quality playback on blu-ray, sound quality is pretty good.

Cons: Will not pair with universal remote (cable tv remote) so volume must be adjusted separately. No HDMI or other non-stereo input for cable so only stereo for everything except blu-ray, wires too short for surround (even in our very small living room), very slow turn-on boot time...

Other Thoughts: In all I feel it was worth the price, we got it on sale for $100, so I am very satisfied. However, it seems a few very obvious oversights were made with the lack of surround audio input, the short wires, the inability to pair with a universal remote, etc. I would buy it again, or suggest it to the less audiophile of my friends and family.

Pros: easy setup and remote worked well from the start

Cons: 1 speaker didnt work right out of the box but for 1/2 off the org price i didnt care that much

Cons: No optical audio

Pros: Good price, seems to be decent quality

Cons: No HDMI input, no digital out/in, FM tuner not digital, low end lacking, lacking advanced controls.

Other Thoughts: Who would make a system without a digital tuner any more?

Pros: Good sound reasonable connections no proprietary speaker connections like others...

Cons: Had to return it because it would freeze up when switching from dvd play to TV signal. Would have to power cycle with the plug because the remote and power switch wouldn't work.

Other Thoughts: cheap system would have kept it had it not frozen up. didn't want to take a chance on another one so went elsewhere.

Pros: Plays blurays and has an aux input.

Cons: The sound is unimpressive. No built in Netflix, or other streaming apps. This is maybe worth 79 bucks. Buy a good 80 buck smart bluray and get a decent separate sound system.

Pros: - Inexpensive (got mine for $130)
- Good sound quality

Cons: - Does not wake up from sleep unless you manually turn it back on, kind of annoying
- Speaker wire too short
- Not many inputs/outputs

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty decent system for the money. I just which it had an HDMI input for sound at least. It has RCA audio inputs, and just an HDMI video-only output. Kinda lame. I had to take my 3x 3.5mm audio cables for 5.1 sound from my HTPC and send them through an RCA converter ($9 device). I also extended my speaker wires with 24g to reach. I have a pretty small entertainment room and the rear cables are not nearly long enough to reach end tables adjacent to my couch which is only 10 ft. from the TV itself, unless I run the cables B-line through the room, which I'm obviously not going to do...

Sound quality is good. But I'm not sure if it's worth the time investment for most people on getting this setup by adding cable, installing a converter, etc. instead of just upgrading to a receiver.

Pros: Cheap - though I got it on black Friday when the price was much lower.

Small - the speakers are tiny... the whole package came in a box that could fit a microwave. The softball sized speakers can be placed very discretely.

Cons: No HDMI cable provided. Luckily I had one laying around but I was a bit shocked that it wasn't included since its kind of required. It comes with a video jack which wont give you HD quality.

Sound level quite low. I understand these are TINY speakers and I got the system for a steal but I expected a little more volume. Even with the volume control all the way up its not loud.

Other Thoughts: This is a perfect setup if you want a very basic upgrade from the integrated speaker in your TV and you want to toss your old DVD player and get on the Blu-ray train.

The speakers won't rumble the room though. If you want a sound system that goes beyond simply being surround... shell out more money for another model.
