can you hook this up to a home computer?

If you run wires to 1/8" stereo plugs for the front jack(Green) and rear speakers (Black)  jackand the center speaker goes to 1/8" jack  (Yellow) The subwoofer is where things can get tricky an un powered subwoofer could be hooked up to a stereao jack along with the center speaker.. but since this set of speakers come with a powered subwoofer a Optical s/pidf connection to stereo rca female jacks then a 2 rca jack to a single rca jack plugged into the subwoofer

Yes I believe it is a powered subwoofer, needs to be plugged in separately

Does the subwoofer automatically turn itself off?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it goes into a low power mode after 15 minutes of my receiver being powered off. You can tell this because the green LED light on the back of the sub changes from green to orange when it powers down. It also automatically powers back on once I turn the receiver on.

what else will i need to make this work?

Accepted Answer

First you need a receiver or amp.  These speakers sound great with my Denon.  Then, you will need enough speaker wire (14+ gauge) depending on how big your room is.  You will also need a coaxial RCA cable to go from your receiver/amp to the sub woofer.

I recommend getting longer cables than you are anticipating in case you need the extra length.  You can always roll them up and zip tie them if you have too much.

Do these speakers have a Banana plug speaker wire inputs?

No.  Spring-clip inputs on the bottom.  Outstanding performance, by the way.  I use them for music and movies; both of which I like loud.  In my basement I can do that.  They keep up with whatever I throw at them.

Can I use the bracket to hang speakers to the ceiling?

I believe you can do this.  The connections to the mounting brackets for the satellites are on the bottom.  I didn't use the brackets that came with the speakers; I purchased some AM20 brackets to use to mount to the speaker prewire boxes in my ceiling.  Since the bracket connection is at the bottom the speakers were mounted upside-down from the ceiling, and there isn't a way to flip the grille so that the logo is upright (doesn't matter to me but I wanted to point it out since I intended to do this initially).

where can i find the manual for this system?

The system comes in two boxes: one for the subwoofer and the other for the 5 speakers. Each box had a manual and each manual covered 2 or 3 speaker/subwoofer models.

I didn't really find the manuals useful or necessary.
