3 out of 5 eggsGood Clock Radio w/iPod Dock

Pros: · Excellent tuner: locks on to weak signals.
· Good sound: Strong (though not tight) bass responce.

Cons: · Display: Viewable only from straight on and above.
· iPod Dock: iPod doesn't seat firmly.
· Remote Control: Slow responce when controling iPod.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought this to use as an alarm clock, but the display was difficult to read from slightly below, and was too bright when adjusted to be visable at all. So I moved it to my home office, where I've been greatly enjoying using the radio and iPod functionality. My other radios around the house have a hard time tuning a few of my favorite local stations, but the Sangean was able to lock onto a clean, clear signal on all of them. I liked that feature so much I bought a second unit for my office at work, where I couldn't get ANY stations to tune. The Sangean was again able to pull in even weak stations. Impressive! I bought both units at a discount price using promo codes, so I'm happy with the value. That said, given some of the cons, I'd be a bit hard pressed to pay the full asking price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks pretty well

Pros: Settable volume for AM/FM alarm
Works with my iPod Touch 4G just fine
Good bass response

Cons: Minimum volume too high for falling asleep (for me!)
Won't charge iPod while in AM/FM mode
Setup is a little quirky
Cannot adjust sleep timer - 60 minutes only
No way of knowing if it stays synced with WWVB

Other Thoughts: Happy with purchase.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sangean radio
Good sound (for a clock radio)
Dual alarms (weekday/weekend modes)

Cons: Cost

Other Thoughts: I was happy to find a Sangean quality radio with stereo sound AND remote. Sangean has a $40 and $60 alarm clock but neither has stereo sound or a remote control. This one has both. This one also has an Ipod doc and the cheaper ones do not.

I have had no problem using my 4th generation Ipod touch to both wake to songs OR to my favorite online jazz station (via an app). I have to start the app and have it play through the radio. I then turn off the radio (not the Ipod) and it has worked several times now. The Ipod goes dark but starts again when the alarm goes off.

Sangean is famous for its radio reception. It is difficult to judge it against some of its other models but it is certainly better than my $10 name-brand alarm clock radio. Since it is a digital tuner, it allows me to get stations more accurately than analog radio.

Overall, I would say that this is a very good clock radio. I would prefer to pay less but $70-$80 is what I would expect to pay for a Sangean product with

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: The display is nice. The radio volume, tuning and presets are very intuitive and easy to use. The speakers are just average.

Cons: The atomic clock feature was very frustrating to configure. The iPod dock does NOT work with my iPod Touch 4gen. I can not recommend this radio for anyone interested in listening to or charging their iPod.

2 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: The display is nice. The speakers are average for a clock radio. Radio presets work as expected.

Cons: The user documentation and the manual are both poorly written. I spent over 30 mins and still can't figure out to set the atomic clock or the alarms.

Other Thoughts: You have press down really hard to seat an iPod.

4 out of 5 eggsAll Around Solid Product

Pros: Decent sound, nice iPod integration, pleasant and easy to read display (see below). Comprehensive manual and function tree chart necessary given options.

Cons: Increasing volume alarm doesn't work with radio, display not self dimming. The iPod dock can't be closed or hidden, so when there is no Ipod in it, there's a pretty ugly gaping hole.

Other Thoughts: I replaced a older Bose Wave with this so my review is mostly based on comparisons with that. While the Sangean obviously doesn't have the sound quality of the Wave, it's pretty impressive considering it's about 1/4 the price.
I got kind of spoiled by the Wave's wake to radio alarm because it had increasing volume and made it much easier for me to wake. The Sangean does this for buzz alarm but I much prefer radio.
While the display has a variety of brightness levels and it's easy to find a good one, I'm surprised it doesn't auto dim like many far cheaper clocks.
The iPod like circular controls are pretty neat.
Overall, if these nits do not concern you, I highly recommend this product.

5 out of 5 eggsClock radio

Pros: The most sophisticated clock radio that I have encountered. Good Ipod (touch) interface and play capability. Good audio. Atomic (actually just WWV) clock update. I got it on special at $70 from Newegg and it's worth all of that. I'm tempted to buy another one for the kitchen.

Cons: It is sufficiently sophisticated that I will probably forget how to operate some of the functions and need to read the manual occasionally.

4 out of 5 eggsNice clock radio

Pros: Can easily see blue lit display/brightness adjustable
Display shows time, month, day and year
choice between 12 hr or 24 hr display
Dual alrm
Weekend and weekday alarm settings
For the size of the small speakers sound and volume is acceptable.
Small footprint
Better than the cheap walmart clocks I usually buy
Build quality better than lower end models
battery backup

Cons: I agree somewhat with another reviewer that said the bass was slightly too much for talk radio. Playing around with bass and treble settings solved much of this. Still would rather have this clock radio than the cheap ones I had been buying.

Other Thoughts: I have so much problems finding a clock display I like its been over 20 years since I had one with a display I like as much as this one. Buying a extra one and storing it away for this reason.

5 out of 5 eggsnice clock radio

Pros: * supports iPod Classic, iPod 4,5, iPod Nano 1-5, iPod touch 1-3, iPod Mini, not iPod 3rd gen 2003-2004 builds.
* atomic clock
* supports FM-RDS
* large display
* excellent audio quality
* remote control
* aux input supported

Cons: * does not charge iPod in AM/FM mode.
* no iPod inserts for specific iPod device

Other Thoughts: I got this clock radio 5 days ago. It is smaller than my other clock radio but sounds so much better. The audio quality is excellent. The display is large enough to be read across the room and brightness is adjustable. The buttons on top are lighted so easy to find in a dark room. The two alarms allow for volume level settings with easy-on feature that doesn't blast you out of deep sleep. The clock can be set manually, from FM, or with atomic clock. My iPod Nano 4th gen works great. The iPod dock has an adjustable backstop, but not width.
Where else can you find a clock radio with these features... Atomic clock, FM song titles, iPod, great sound, large display. I would pay twice the price.
I cannot comment on durability because I have not had it long. If it breaks, I will update this review.
