Rubber covered for protection too. Cons: A bit heavy. Mine don't say 'Pentax' anywhere but there still really good binoculars. Other Thoughts: For stargazing, 10x50 is a bit shaky to use for long periods of time. Anything stronger than 10x50 would be difficult to hold still.
