I read dozens of tech and user reviews all over the Internet. This was my first HDTV purchase, and I could not be more pleased. I snagged this on sale at Newegg for only $680 (+ free shipping), so I also got the 2 year warranty for $80 because why not. The picture quality is superb. It's crisp, clear, vivid, amazing HD. Even the sound quality on this extremely thin LED-LCD HDTV is great. I plan to get a home theater setup soon, but really I'm not in a hurry since the sound on this is just fine for now. The "Smart" aspect of this TV is just incredible. It took seconds to search for my wireless network and connect (once you do this, you'll be prompted to update the firmware, so it's important to get online connectivity ASAP for full features). I don't have cable yet, so I only stream on Netflix and Hulu for now. The quality is 100% perfect. I can browse the Internet, listen to Pandora (download required), or stream my desktop PC's display straight to the TV via WiDi (very neat). Overall Pros: -amazing picture quality -easy to connect to wireless -core apps (Hulu, Netflix, browser) are pre-installed and easy to use -smart remote (like a Wii remote) -insane value (bought this for $680 on Newegg) -easy to navigate menus -TruMotion 120Hz can be toggled on or off (can also do a user-specific setting where if you only want a little TruMotion, that's possible) -WiDi ready (research this, very neat feature and works for desktop PCs, not just laptops) -did I mention amazing picture quality? Cons: Really, the sound on this thing is just fine. I have nothing to complain about. That being said, if you plan to purchase this TV (or any HDTV really), you might as well begin thinking about a solid sound system to go with it to get the most out of it. Overall Cons: -disturbing the remote triggers interface (see other thoughts) -lots of useless apps Other Thoughts: As I said earlier, I don't have cable yet. So I only stream Netflix and Hulu for now. The apps are very easy to navigate and produce such amazing picture quality on this TV. You would NEVER know that it was streaming from my wifi. For newer shows and movies that these services offer in true HD, you'd literally think it was coming from a Blue Ray player. If you don't want the "soap opera effect," simply turn off TruMotion for EACH input (HDMI as well as inside your apps Hulu and Netflix, QMENU). Then, it will default to off for all subsequent viewings in that input or app. Or, there's an option where you can set levels of TruMotion as desired. You will hear many people say that they hate the smart remote (like a Wii remote). Personally, I like this remote. It makes navigating around the enormous 47" screen simple and intuitive. The smart remote CAN be cumbersome at times when streaming Netflix or Hulu, only because once you hit play, if you then lay the remote on the bed or couch next to you, sudden movements of the remote will trigger the sensor making the on-screen video interface appear momentarily. Don't really care much for the Smart features; they're kinda cool, but kinda gimmicky. 120Hz is awesome. Cons: The pseudo-active LED backlighting is weak. There are only like 20 regions, and they're lit from the side, so if you have one bright spot on the TV, you might get a whole quadrant backlit and it looks weird. Other Thoughts: This is why I came here. This item will ship LARGE FREIGHT. It will NOT SHIP UPS 3 Day. The freight company called and scheduled a delivery for today, so I took a day off work to be home to sign for it (UPS can hold items for your pickup, which is what I was planning). I get a call today and now it can't be delivered for an entire week. 10 total days of processing time is UNACCEPTABLE, even if it's free shipping. NewEgg: if you know something is a large item that will be shipped freight, don't list the shipping method as "UPS GUARANTEED 3 DAY." List it as "LARGE ITEM FREIGHT." I made plans twice and have had them foiled. Next time, I'm ordering from the place with $3.99 overnight shipping. This has been a nightmare. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful. Did you?
