4 out of 5 eggsFirst Time User

Pros: Great design
Easy to install HDD
Easy to hook it all up
Feels sturdy and safe when HDD is installed in
USB 3.0

Cons: No feet for the case to sit or stand on
Cables are a bit short
Case can get quite warm after prolonged use

Other Thoughts: The cable length issue really isn't that big of a deal. But i just wanted to throw everything i could think of out there so other buyers could make educated decisions.
The only real issue is how warm the case can get, that's the reasoning for 4 out of 5 eggs. Now I understand you can buy the one with the fan, but it really doesn't need one in my opinion. It just needs to be able to stand up and not lay flat without air being able to escape from under it. A real easy cheap fix would be to just add some rubber or plastic feet to the case to allow it to sit up off the surface its sitting on.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use, Clean design

Pros: Very easy to setup and use, just slide the casing off, drop the drive in, and replace the casing's top and you're good to go!
Comes with all cables, no defects, lays flat on any surface.
Flat design, no pointy corners!
Cheap in comparison

Cons: Could use a better lock-in method as it feels a little loose when carrying it, but of course it's usually going to be stationary when in-use. I mostly use it as the main source of external for my Xbox One and also use it to backup my PC.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a way to hold the secondary HDD for my Xbox One, after using it for about 2-3 weeks and constantly swapping drives, i've had no problems and would recommend it to anyone!

5 out of 5 eggsGood for light use only

Pros: Cheap and easy to use.

Cons: No fan and the drive will get hot under heavy loads.

Other Thoughts: I just use it as a back up drive now and again so it is fine. For heavy use I have fan cooled models.

5 out of 5 eggsORICO 3588US3 SuperSpeed 3.5

Pros: Awesome enclosure for the price!

Cons: Would be cool if the outer casing was metal, but for the features and the price, I am happy!

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: It is so easy to use, works great, handles my 3Tb drive without problems, and its fast. What's not to like?

Cons: Doesn't make breakfast?

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant about these enclosures. There was a great sale so I purchased one for my 2.5" drive. It didn't work and I was ready to growl. But the problem was that I had switched in my head which USB port was powered. So I decided to test this and I am very glad I did. The drive, which had been problematic in another enclosure, has been working perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick easy cheap

Pros: Had an extra 1TB drive I wanted to use and bought this enclosure for it. No tools and about 5 minutes and it was ready to go.

Cons: Drive get hot if used allot. I would not use this for heavy use. I use it for backups so it does not get hot under my normal use. Made of cheap plastic so it would not be a good transport drive. Drives I carry around allot I get the metal cases.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money!

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use.

Cons: Worked fine with Win 7 but Win 8 would not recognize drive. Orico still sells this product but there are no firmware/driver updates available. In fact Orico's website has very little info on this model.

Other Thoughts: You might want to look at a different product unless you never plan to use this with Win 8.

1 out of 5 eggsNot SATA III

Pros: See my comment in Cons, does not support SATA III speeds.

Cons: Did some research, like the 2.5" product from ORICO sold on Newegg, the chipset maxes out at SATA II. Even though the spec says SATA III, that just means you can hook at SATA III drive to it, but the drive will fall back to SATA II. The folks saying they notice a speed increase, it is because of the change from USB 2 to USB 3, and that's fine, but it would be even faster if SATA III were supported. Looking on ORICO website, this product number and the one for the 2.5" product listed on NewEgg, have been replaced by newer models, likely with SATA III support, and probably we these products are being sold on NewEgg (discontinued / clearance).

Other Thoughts: Still very inexpensive for the price right now (under $20), so if the speed increase from USB 2 to USB 3 is worth it to you, great, but do not expect full SATA III throughput, i.e. the speed over USB 3 would be even faster.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: This inexpensive case is unobtrusive and seems to do the job. I'm getting 60 MB/s read and 120 MB/s write out of a Seagate ST3000DM001.

Cons: The case is pretty cheesy. It does not require tools, but I'm not sure how long these plastic tabs will hold out. It is already a looser fit from having opened it once to install a hard drive.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could find a simply designed and quality built USB3<->SATAIII case.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent HDD Kit!

Pros: Awesome HDD enclosure. Easy access for quickly swapping SATA HDDs. Extremely quiet as well.

Cons: Case is mostly plastic with a metal base, would have preferred more metal.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend to anyone looking for portable storage alternative.
