5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: Bought to extend our network to another building and works great. The outlets aren't even on the same breaker and they still connected up no problem. Performance so far is honestly better then I had expected.

Cons: None to be seen thus far.

Other Thoughts: Great Product. I can see myself purchasing more of these in the future.

3 out of 5 eggsConstantly losing signal strength

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: Easy to setup and use, works right out of the box.

Cons: After connection strength about 6-8 months of use the connection strength keeps dying on me. It was consistently
"green" for the first 6 months but over the past couple of months the connection strength always degrades down to "red" on one end, sometimes both, after a few hours to a few days. This makes a difference too. Advertised at 100Mbps but I never got above 40Mbps (which was still good enough for me). But when connection drops to red my speed will drop to less than 10Mbps. Will be buying a newer 500Mbps powerline adapter.

Other Thoughts: Really is a neat product and a great solution for poor wifi. I've got Verizion FIOS and they make it difficult to use your own wireless router. Can't drill holes in the floor/wall in the rental, so ethernet over power is a great intern solution.

5 out of 5 eggsPlug and Play, Works Great!

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: Works immediately after setting it up. All I had to do was plug the router/modem in on one side at the back of the house and my HTPC in on the other side and works fast. Granted my internet at the house atm is really slow but i don't see a difference between wired/powerline!

Cons: None really, but I wish I could get a third power line plug for another device like it shows on the box. lol

Other Thoughts: I was really nervous about buying this because this is one of the type of products that no matter where you go there are serious amounts of bad reviews. But was very satisfied with this product and would have bought two when it was on sale if I would have known that!

1 out of 5 eggsDrop connection every few minutes

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: easy to use, plug and play

Cons: Drop connection every few minutes. It is not compatible with ZyXel 500MBps powerline adapter. It only works for one day; it drops connection every few minutes. I had to buy another pair of ZyXel adapter to replace these 4 adapters. The utility software could not event detect the adapter even I plugged both in same network switch. It is a joke.

Other Thoughts: Do not waste money on DLink product, I have DLink IP Cam also, they are all junks.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly everywhere

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: Totally plug & play. Connected to router upstairs, back circuit. 2nd unit downstairs and will connect on front or back circuit. My Netgear WGR614 is probably dying - disconnects often, and only getting 12Mbs out of max 18 Mbs. With powerline attached, actually getting 20-22 Mbs - higher than I'm paying for. Have moved it around to various outlets for temp use, and always reconnects instantly. It's been flawless for me.

Cons: So far zero.

Other Thoughts: I have an old house with lousy wiring. My expectations were low, but bought it on sale, so . . . Results are such that I couldn't expect more from this product.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but not ideal

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: - Convenient
- Fast, easy setup

Cons: - Emits a high pitched sound

Other Thoughts: Bottom line is that this product works as you would expect. Simple setup with decent throughput. There is an issue where one of the units is emitting a high-pitched noise that can get very annoying. I contacted D-Link for an RMA and that entire process has been a nightmare. First, the tech forgot to enter my phone number, so when I went to enter my case number on the RMA site, it couldn't find it. I had to contact support again to get it corrected. Once it was corrected, I went through the RMA process to find out I need to pay shipping for the return as well as the new product. Finally, once I completed the RMA process and got the label to print, the image of the RMA bar code would not display. Turns out the image element was returning a 403 from D-Link's servers. Lesson learned - I'm going to keep the units and just squirrel the noisy one away somewhere it won't be noticed. In the future, I'll just avoid D-Link products - not for poor quality, but for the annoying RMA process.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Solution

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: Was looking for solution to extend network connectivity in apartment. Bridging Wifi was not working consistently. So looked into Powerline. This is a great solution! Works flawlessly. Setup was simple as well. Great to extend wireline network reach where WIFI would otherwise be of low reach.

Cons: None to date.

4 out of 5 eggsworks Great

This review is from: D-Link DHP-309AV PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit

Pros: These have worked great connecting our living room to the office. I kinda wish it had gigabit ethernet but in reality, it's mostly used to allow for a remote access point, and for that it's more than enough. At the price it sure beats running cables.

Cons: No gigabit ethernet

Other Thoughts: I should keep some of these sets when I have to find a way to get internet run for friends,
