4 out of 5 eggsIt's ok for movies but 5-stars?

Pros: Bright, really really bright
720p - good resolution (at the price point)
Durable - we use ours every evening as basically a TV
Haven't noticed any rainbow effect

Cons: Color fidelity less than optimal
Grey/black levels are less than ideal

Other Thoughts: Background : We replaced an aging portable Epson projector (basic VGA projector for business presentations) that had ended up mounted to our ceiling in a makeshift home theater set up. After 7-ish years, it seemed an upgrade was in order.
Setup : We now have basically a dedicated home-theater room - it does have four small windows but most of our watching is at night. The projector is mounted to the ceiling. Projects onto the largest retractable screen I could find (I forget the dimensions, I apologize.)
Purpose : We just watch TV/movies. We don't game.
Results : First thing you notice, WOW that's bright. White screens/scenes are really intense. Second thought was that the resolution increase is really noticable coming from a VGA projector. Everything looks nice and sharp. I'm sure 1080p projector people are scoffing at this but we really were impressed.

Over time though, I've started to wish I'd spent more time viewing this personally instead of just relying on reviews. There are some definite cons in my book. The first thing I noticed is the lack of gray scale/dark scene reproduction. It just can't do it. This became apparent and obvious while watching "Guardians of the Galaxy" particularly the early scene where he is robbing the orb. All the details in that scene were just lost. After that, we noticed that the skin color/tones weren't quite right. It's not aweful, but it's also not great. It feels kind of like watching a budget LCD TV -- overblown/saturated colors and brightness to compensate for a sub-optimal picture/color. It's not bad, but it's not super-fantastic either. I highly recommend you try to view this projector in person (and take some challenging stuff along with you) before you buy it. I will say, watching football is fantastic on this thing!

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: -Great picture / I use it on a dark blue wall and the picture is great
-good price / outperforms (in my opinion) a buddies BenQ that cost 2x as much

Cons: -mounting to a universal ceiling mount was tricky

Other Thoughts: I bought this before there were any reviews on here right after this model was released and that's not something i normally do and it was a great purchase, no regrets.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you need a bright, 720 machine, go for this

Pros: Very Bright. Long life bulb. 5000hrs. Small and white. Hides easily on the ceiling. MHL HDMI port. Easy to set up, color close to perfect out of the box. No issue with DLP rainbows with me or any of my friends. I purchased this projector for a friend who had me buy and set up for him. He runs it 12-16 hrs A DAY for the last year and a half and has had no problems at all. He uses it as his primary television.

Cons: Gets hot, but no problems so far.

Other Thoughts: I think the scare about DLP rainbows is over-hyped. I can see them, but only on a very few scenes and then only if I try.

5 out of 5 eggsSet for 720p

Pros: I also bought the last version of this projector so I thought I would comment to balance the negative comment of the other guy who did as well. It has been a great projector with my kids and grandkids running it nonstop for almost 4 years now with no problems. Still using the original bulb too. The picture is great and with my surround sound we often have movie nights with 20-30 people and a blue ray disk from redbox for 2 bucks. Everyone loves it. When you have very fast action it probably doesn't handle it as well as a $3000 projector would but for the money it can't be beat. After reading all the reviews I set all of my equipment to put out a 720p signal. And had no problem with the DLP chip. People who had problems with the DLP chip seem to have been running this projector in 1080p mode which it will do but it burns up the chip over time. I don't know if this model will have that problem as well but I advise everyone to take the time to set your outputs to 720p and enjoy.

Cons: For the money absolutely none. Some people seems to have trouble with the earlier model when they ran it as 1080p.

Other Thoughts: Once again set your outputs on your sources to the native mode 720p and you should have no issues.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy so far!

Pros: Decent Black levels and excellent colors.
Beautiful image on 77" projector screen.
Easy to set up and get going.
Vertical automatic angle adjustment.
720p looks as good as my 32" 1080p LCDTV.

Totally worth! :)

Cons: Gets hot (Makes me worry about burning out the lens, but they are built to get hot so I may be worrying for nothing)

Awkward screw feet adjustments, its a bit of an inconvenience trying to get them just right. Probably better off just using small blocks of something to get them to the heights you need.

Indirect sunlight during day kinda washes the image out (Its still watchable, but blacks suffer the most), looks best in totally dark environment, but this is to be expected of a budget home theater projector. Business projectors are built to be visible in bright rooms.

Other Thoughts: This is an amazing projector. I did a *LOT* of research before deciding on this projector, and it was totally worth it. I am surprised at how clear the image is for being 720p on 77", it honestly looks as good as my 32" 1080p LCDTV (In the dark).

Keep in mind the quality is also determined by your screen, and the quality of video you feed the projector. Some people list not being 1080p as a con, but honestly this projector looks good enough that it doesn't matter to me. Keep in mind that unless you are right up on the screen, the differences will not be that noticeable (some people may be more sensitive than others with 720p vs 1080p).

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage Products- DLP Failure after 4 years

Pros: If you want a worthless object in 4 years, this is the company for you.

Cons: Bought the Acer H5360 3D-DLP Projector 4 years ago.
Samr thing: 720P, 3D ready, etc. 4 Years of Home Theater use.

Now it is completely worthless. DLP chip has failed. Black and white dots all over my screen. Not worth it to repair it.

Do not buy.

Other Thoughts: Fail!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Projector

Pros: I've been using this as my home theater projector for a couple months now and I'm really happy with it. The color and brightness are great. I mostly watch things in semi to full darkness and also use a separate sound system, so I can't comment on it's usefulness as a travel presentation projector.

Cons: The rainbowing is noticable to me, though everyone else I've had over to watch movies doesn't see it. That being said, it's not a deal breaker to me. I've somehow adjusted to the rainbowing and it's not as noticable as when I first got it. I really have to work to see it now. The fan can be a little loud when it gets hot, but it's not anything out of acceptable ranges.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the buck.

Pros: Picture.
Price..
MHL HDMI is pretty cool

Cons: Fan noise *may* be a distraction for some. The projector can struggle on some dark scenes. More inputs would be appreciated.

Other Thoughts: I got the okay to buy this in the Spring from my wife to have outdoor movie nights for the neighborhood. Worked great. I thought while I have it I may as well mount if in the play room where the kids used an old 42" panny plasma.

Now they have 104" of gaming and movie goodness. As O mentioned in the cons, it struggles with darker scenes and the fan may bother some. It doesn't me, with half decent speakers it's going to drown that out.

I am not going to dock any eggs for the cons I suggested because this is an entry level home theater projector. To have improvements in these areas there are more expensive units that are available.

The MHL input is a nice touch. I can hook my Galaxy s4 up to it and have it mirror my phone. Very cool.

Wish it had an optical out so I could send the sound back to the receiver.

Great projector for the price, which for me was $399

5 out of 5 eggsamazing

Pros: I wanted a project for a long time, so after doing tons of research on them, i thought that the "rainbow effect" would bother me. so when i first bought a projector, i went this the epson home cinema 730hd, which is an LCD projector and supposedly has no rainbow effects. HOWEVER, being an LCD, the black levels were really really bad, so i returned it and purchased this one at a very nice price. the price from 720p to 1080p was too big of a gap for me to jump so i went with this projector and dont think i could be happier. it truely is amazing, and I can barely see the "rainbow effect" only if i look for it, otherwise, its unnoticeable. If you are thinking about a projector, I recommend doing the research and getting one, they are AWESOME!!!! you will not be disappointed with this machine for the price, it cannot be beat

Cons: not 1080
