Positioned at the intersection of performance and value, Chronos SSDs provide next-generation SSD responsiveness by utilizing asynchronous NAND Flash technology. Say goodbye to rotational hard drive sluggishness by adding a Chronos SSD to your system today!

• INDUSTRY-LEADING PERFORMANCE
Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Chronos Series is designed and built to unleash the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface. The Chronos pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience.

• A SUPERIOR PC EXPERIENCE
In addition to maximum performance, a Chronos SSD upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. Chronos series SSDs work in perfect harmony with next generation platforms and operating systems to deliver the ultimate storage solution.

• TRIM SUPPORT
The Chronos Series SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB-7 2.5" 240GB SATA III 7mm Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Excellent price point.
Running 2 of these in RAID 0 with a cheep PCI-e card. Write speed is 780 MB/s but the read speed is only 430 MB/s. I think it is the cheep RAID card that is giving we the slower read speed but it is a great improvement from my RAID 10 setup with 4 HDD's on SATA II. The great thing is that I installed a fresh O.S. (WIN 7) on this array and I still have everything on my previous version and can still access the data or boot to my old RAID 10 SATA II setup if I need to for any reason which is great because I have Cakewalk Sonar files that are on that drive and none are saved as standalone files.

Test rendering in After Effects I saw a great improvement in rendering time due to the increase in write speed. My processor is an i7 875K overclocked to 4.0Ghz and I'm getting a WEI score of 7.7 on this RAID 0 array and my processor with is my lowest overall score.

Cons: I have an extended boot time due to the PCI-e interface. It's just an older system and even with an onboard RAID configuration the boot time increases so it should be expected.

Other Thoughts: If your looking to upgrade an older system from SATA II to SATA III desiring better performance and don't want to spend more than you can justify than I recommend this SSD. I am connected 2 of these via PCI-e interface for a RAID 0 array. If your concerned with price point vs. performance these SSD's are giving me enough bang for my buck that I am satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsIt worked normally!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB-7 2.5" 240GB SATA III 7mm Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It works all right, and I have had no difficulty with failures, especially the dreaded BSOD. The speed seems to be about average for SSD devices. The cost was reasonable.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to serve as a backup for my Plextor PX-256M5Pro SSD drive, that contains my OS. After I installed Windows 7 Pro, I cloned this drive and disconnected it electrically. It will not be connected during normal use. it will be re-cloned if I make major changes to the active "C" drive in my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade for Any Computer!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB-7 2.5" 240GB SATA III 7mm Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: 1. Great value. The price at 240GB simply can't be beat.
2. Speed. It's an SSD. Windows 7 boots in less than 20 seconds. Thats from an existing install transferred from a HDD!

Cons: My parent's dual-core Pentium desktop now boots up faster than my laptop!

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have the appropriate windows recovery disk (32vs64 bit) if you plan on transferring a windows installation from one disk to another. I spent a long time failing to fix the MBR on the SSD before I realized I was using a 64 bit recovery CD on a 32 bit windows installation!

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB-7 2.5" 240GB SATA III 7mm Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast transfer speed, competitive price

Cons: Wasn't free, you get what you pay for, setup was questionable

Other Thoughts: I paid $145 summer 2013 (not on sale) and I haven't had complaints. I don't believe in buying the best available, but getting something good enough at competitive price means a lot to me. I find this drive to be relatively inexpensive so I chose it out of the mid-grade.

While browsing around in Windows, I can expect file transfers saturating the SATA3 connector, am satisfied (600MBps transfer not uncommon)
