5 out of 5 eggsWorks easy as it should be

Pros: Turn of computer, discharge static plug and play in win 7 64. Picke up sony DRCPC1 mini dv camera. I am good with computers, been working for internet start ups since 1992, but if I am thinking about hardware because something is wrong. This was easy, just as it should be. Pay the extra $10 for the TI chip and get busy working, not dealing with IT problems.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsWindows 7, Yes. M-Audio, No.

Pros: No drivers required in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Works well with Firewire hard drives.

Cons: Does not work with M-Audio Profire 2626 audio interface.

Other Thoughts: I spent hours trying to get this card to work with my Profire 2626, with no success. Legacy drivers, registry editing, install-order guesswork, yourself the headache and spend just a little more and get the other SIIG card Newegg sells, which also has the TI chipset and is confirmed to work with several audio interfaces.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Flex Radio 5000A

Pros: My Flex Radio (SDR) 5000A requires a low latency firewire interface to allow PC control of all functions as well as the DSP and streaming audio for both TX and RX. The integrated firewire port on the computer that I use for this task worked fairly well but it exhibited delayed procedure call issues that resulted in pops, clicks, and dropouts now and then. The SIIG card eliminates all the streaming issues and handles all TX and RX functions seamlessly. Installation could not be easier. With the system powered down (and unplugged to assure no VCC is on the PCI bus) plug the SIIG into an open PCI slot. When you power up, Windows 7/Vista/XP/Server 2003/2008 and Win 2000 will install the correct driver without any intervention from you. In my system the SIIG card is sharing its assigned IRQ with 2 other devices but they all get along fine.

Newegg had the SIIG card on my doorstep 48 hours after I placed my order. They are awesome!

Cons: None. It works perfectly.

Other Thoughts: The "Details" section in the Newegg description of this card makes no mention of Windows 7 support. It's worth noting that the documentation that accompanies the SIIG 3-Port 1394 MN-400012-S8 card lists Windows 7 among the supported operating systems.

5 out of 5 eggsPresonus Firestudio Project Approved

Pros: This is a truly exceptional firewire card for the price. If you are into sound-recording and are running a Presonus Firestudio, or Firestudio Project, this chip-set (Texas Instruments) is listed in the manual for the Presonus as fully-functional.

This card out-performs every other firewire card I've tried and handles the audio transition extremely well. When paired with a good quad-core cpu (Phenom II, or i5-2500/2500k, or i7-2600/2600k) you get exceptional performance!

Not a single pop, click, hiss, or audio dropout!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you set your buffer rate correctly before using. Also, disable any internet cards, or internet connection before recording audio as this can interfere with the process.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with OS X

Pros: Easy install, works great. No drivers needed.

Cons: Takes up a PCI slot?

Other Thoughts: I was getting pops, clicks and drop-outs with my onboard 1394 and AudioFire2. It was recommended to get a 1394 card with a TI chipset. This has solved my firewire audio problems.
