With its excellent blend of quality and features, the LIAN LI PC-9N Computer Case is a great choice for building a new PC or relocating your existing system. Designed for power users, this mid tower chassis accommodates a 300mm PSU, a VGA card up to 430mm, and a CPU cooler up to 170mm in height. With a rotatable modular HDD cage, it's more convenient to upgrade the storage and route power/data cables. Tool-less ODD brackets makes installation quick and easy. Two pre-installed fans create efficient airflow to dissipate the heat. Best of all, the aluminum construction with its classic design presents an elegant style, making this case easily blend into any decor.

  • newegg Efficient Cooling Take in cool air through the front 140mm cooling fan, and exhaust the hot air by the rear 120mm fan.
  • newegg Easy Installation The modular HDD cage supports up to four HDDs (three 3.5-inch HDD and one 2.5-inch HDD, or two 3.5-inch HDDs + one 2.5-inch HDD + one 2.5-inch HDD (using the 3.5-inch bay)). The cage can rotate to face the right, the left, or backwards for flexibility. The ODD bays use a tool-less mounting design for hassle-free installation.
  • newegg Great Capacity Supports 300mm PSU, up to 430mm long VGA card and up to 170mm high CPU cooler, plus eight expansion cards.

5 out of 5 eggsI had realistically lower expectations, but am pleased

Pros: This is my 3rd PC build in the last 8 years so I have some ability, but in no way am an expert. I had a budget in mind and decided to cheap out a little bit on the case - trying to keep it around $100. My last PC had this giant black plastic looking case so I wanted to try a case that would match with my apple pro. I have to say I think the case looks better in person than in pictures.

I agree with all the other comments - there is a lot of room in there. I did not pinch my hands or fingers trying to get screws in anywhere, etc. I like the way the motherboard goes in on a rail system. To be honest though I do not have a lot of things in this case. My previous pc had water cooling, SLI cards, 2 drives, etc. This time I wanted just the basics to try to keep down heat. I have a GTX 980ti, MSI gaming 7 motherboard, i7 4790K, Samsung SSD, and I chose a Noctua ND D14 air cooler. After trying out the computer post build I did not replace the case fans with the NF -A14 and NF -S12A fans I purchased. I did not bother. I found the case fans that came with it very quiet. I am looking at HW Monitor now as I write this. The cores are between 22 and 25 deg celcius. I have done a little bit of skyrim gaming - no problems with heat. I ran Prime 95 small FFTs for 2 or 3 hours, by no means 24 hour test. Temps were 72 degree celcius max.

Im giving this info in case any one wants to know about the cooling. I have not noticed any bad sounds from the fans or case bulging at this point. I wonder if I others had defective parts to their cases.

Cons: It had everything I needed but then again I was looking for a basic, elegant looking, non a giant plastic gaming type of deal that I previously had.

I guess the only con was it does not have a clear window on side - I looked to see if there was one that I could add later but I did not fine one yet.

Other Thoughts: Anyway I really like the case but again I was looking for a simple stylish silver case. I would say the main plus I am seeing right now is it is fairly quiet and does not seem to get hot or loud with gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsFlawed but beautiful

Pros: The case looks amazing, the build quality and the feel of the brushed aluminum is similar to that of an Apple computer. if not better. Was easy enough to set up other than a few gripes

Also since the case is made out of Aluminum it sort of acts as a giant heatsink, basically, it stays very cold inside the case

Cons: I have a few nitpicks about the case and a larger problem:

- Rudimentary cable management

- Fans aren't the quietest things in the world, front 140mm whines a bit

- Mounting a CPU cooler from the back without having to remove the mobo will be impossible for some motherboards because one part of the case blocks you from getting to the mounting holes

BIGGEST ISSUE: The side panels (more specifically the back one) bulges out and is very noticeable, this isn't because of the cables, it simply bulges out for no reason and sort of ruins the look of the case for some, very dissapointed about this

Other Thoughts: Even though it has a few problems, the case is too unique and great looking to give it anything lower than 4 eggs

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality, classy case.

Pros: - High build quality. Everything just fits so well - no jury rigging or forcing pieces needed at all.
- Adequate cooling.
2x 140mm intake fans in the front (only one fan+filter included).
1x 120mm exhaust fan in the rear (included). Two holes with rubber grommets are right under the fan space for people who want to route hoses through for liquid cooling.
Optional 1x or 2x 120mm or 140mm fans for side panels (covers are included and pre-mounted; can be removed when fans are mounted).
Bottom mounted PSU, and a filter for the bottom is included.
- Roomy. I have a micro ATX motherboard and there's a comical amount of room left over. I will probably upgrade to a full ATX motherboard soon. Behind the motherboard is adequate room for cable management. I also plan on getting an NH-D14 - Lian Li claims you have clearance for a 170mm high CPU cooler, and the D14 requires 160mm. We'll see.

Cons: - The USB ports and sound jacks on top are of mediocre quality. When I plugged in a USB cable or audio cable it just felt...odd. I don't think they'll break off or anything, but they do not have the same high quality as the rest of the case.
- No optical drive bezel is included. Lian Li sells a silver aluminum bezel separately (model C-02), but it's a bit hard to find. I'm a bit picky, and my drive's black bezel stands out too much for me. Newegg doesn't carry the bezel, so I had to search around and buy from a store I've never heard of (and a week later they still haven't shipped my bezel - but that's another story).
- You get exactly the right number of thumb screws, screws, etc. It would have been nice to get a few extra. So do not lose anything!

Other Thoughts: - I did not use or even test out the included fans. I installed a couple Noctuas right away.
- This case looks great, in my opinion. I don't like most gamer-styled cases out there, and this is a very nice, classy, subdued design.
- This case is aluminum, and as such has the physical properties of aluminum - things can bend if you force them! Do not try to cram too many wires behind the motherboard and force the panel to close - you WILL bend it.
- Good instructions are included - nice diagrams, and not written in broken English.
- 2.5" and 3.5" drives are mounted to the drive cage using a rubber ring system. For the 2.5" drive, you screw in these little black rings to the drive itself, then the rubber rings slide onto the cage. I assume this is all done to reduce noise. I've actually never dealt with this system before, and I had a hard time putting the rings on my SSD. I finally figured out that it's easiest to only partially screw the screws in, then you slip the rubber rings in. Then you can tighten the screws a little bit more.

3 out of 5 eggsFront fan is not functioning

Pros: High quality, with very good layout and design ( This is my second Lian-Li case)

Cons: 1. The front fan is not functioning
2. The screws for lock latch do not match, not way to lock.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Lian-Li case and I am disappointed. I was very happy with my first Lian-Li case, it came without any problems. That's why I bought my second Lian-Li case.

However, this second Lian-Li comes with two problem, I feel very very sad that I lose some confidence with Lian-Li.

4 out of 5 eggsPoints for style

Pros: Tool less installation of everything except motherboard.
Distinctive finish, although it looks a bit like a Sony Vaio or Mac Pro tower.
Hopefully will last years.

Cons: No card reader.
Not really a good value, but made out of aluminum.

Other Thoughts: This a nice, distinctive looking case. It has a brushed finish like a DeLorean. My favorite thing about this case was how easy it was to get setup. You only need to take off one panel for the whole installation. All of the motherboard standoffs are set up for an ATX motherboard when you pull it out of the box. It looks like there is enough room for a bigger board.

The external drive trays have a latching mechanism that you don't need to install on your DVD drive. So if you're like me and only use the optical drive to install the OS, this is extremely convenient.

Thermal performance is very good so far, I am using the two fans that came with the case to cool a 3570K clocked to 4.2 GHz with a Zalman cooler.

A good case for enthusiasts that will change out hardware often.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Case with Style

Pros: High quality case. Clean, sleek looking, and has a beautiful aluminum finish. USB 3.0 ports. The door that covers USB/Audio In/Audio Out is sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap. Reset switch is super small and ensures your system won’t be reset accidentally. Airflow is good as all my temps are where they should be. As always, superfast Newegg shipping – shipped the same day I ordered.

Cons: A slight gripe, when its dark the activity LEDs tend to have a “Cotton Candy” effect. This is due to the different color LED’s intermixing, the power LED is blue and the HDD activity is red. Not a huge deal, but does somewhat annoy me. Also, perhaps it’s my case (or headphones) in particular, when I listen to my headphones the audio sounds hollow. I find that I need to pull the headphone plug out slightly from the headphone jack to correct the issue.

Other Thoughts: At the time of writing, Newegg is the only retailer in the U.S. I could find that sells this case. I had to wait two months until Newegg had it back in stock.
