Form meets function to create Cooler Master's Stacker RC-830. This monolithic tower supports an outstanding nine external drive bays, each capable of holding either a 5.25" or 3.5" drive. These drives will have nothing to fear, either, sitting safely behind a sculpted door. The ever important USB ports are taken seriously, too with four set up front, yet separated to keep from getting in each others way.
Internally this case is just as business like. The hard drives are well represented with four 3.5" bays. The cooling of this tower is where it truly shines however. It comes with two 120mm fans for use in the front and back, and then goes overboard with slots for an additional four 120mm fans on each side. When used in combination, there is very little that these fans can’t keep cool. The optional fan on top is an after thought that only the most die hard of users will ever need.
Then to make installation and maintenance nearly an automatic action, the design geniuses made all aspects of this case tool free. The coupled that with excellent cable management, and a removable motherboard tray and hard drive cage. Make it easy on yourself. Get a case that will support your frequent "tweaks" and changes without skinning your knuckles or cramping your hands. This case will leave your hands healthy for manipulating that keyboard!

All the space, all the air flow!
- Pros: If you're looking for a full tower case, you probably want a giant, well, this is it. When I FINALLY got it (ordered on a weekend... UPS doesn't ship things on a weekend, so don't
do that) I pulled it out of the box, and stared at it... I felt lied to... No way do the pictures do this bad boy justice! It's MASSIVE!!
When I put all my hardware in, including all the fans, I still had so much room! And this case COOLS! My 8800gtx was running at 89c in my old HP pavilion case, now runs at 65c!
It's true if you have a huge heatsink like the Tuniq Tower, you'll have to pop out a fan bracket to install it, but if you did a good job picking your fans, you won't need a heatsink like that.
This case has all the room, all the looks, and all the cooling you'll ever need! And don't forget the amazing removable motherboard tray (just be gentle with it, seriously), and when you get it, you'll understand it has wheels for a reason!
- Cons: Well, I didn't experience this myself, but I did a LOT of research before I bought this case, and it seems there is a problem with the motherboard tray actually grounding your motherboard! They say it can be fixed with some bending, so just be sure to check your motherboard tray before you set up your system and make SURE its straight.
The tray is also kinda flimsy, and I really felt like I had to treat it like a newborn child while I had it out to install the board. So maybe some folks just damage the tray while installing their motherboard. So just remember, the tray is just a thin piece of aluminum, so don't treat it like it's a thick piece of steel.
You may also need to get an extension cable for your power/reset button cables, if you have a large motherboard, with the connectors on the bottom, head to the CM support site and order up some extensions. Make sure you do that, and you're good to go!
- Other Thoughts: This case is amazing! Best I've EVER used, and I'll be using it for YEARS to come. So much space, you can do anything you want with it. The case is solid as a rock, and I even use it as a foot rest during movies.
If you want to add two (or more) fans in the front, don't buy the expensive HDD cage, just search for one of these; RC-880-FBN1-GP.
The dust filters on the fan brackets keep the dust level to a bare minimum on the inside of the case, and the brushed aluminum looks amazing! I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. Look, you're spending a ton of money on a top end PC, so why not give it some serious room to breathe, and a ton of fans to make sure it has a constant supply of fresh air? If you don't want to buy a new case every time you update your system, get this, you'll have it for YEARS!
MASSIVE
- Pros: This case is HUGE!!! There is PLENTY of room inside to work in. 4 Fans on side keep everything really cool. Looks nice. Best case I've ever had.
Cool removable mobo tray.
- Cons: Case doors are a pain to get back on. If you set the 4 fans to be intake fans rather than exhaust, it pulls the filter against the fans and it makes a loud noise so I had to rip those filters out.
- Other Thoughts: Install the wheels, lifting it is dangerous considering its bulk, dropped computers rarely work well.

- Pros: Owned this case for Seven months now. Excellent airflow, screens capture 95% of dust before it even makes it inside my case. (I took it out to dust out my heat sinks maybe two months ago now and nothing lodged in the heat sinks like my old case.) The case is VERY large and I enjoy that fact that everything inside is modular and removable with little fuss. I intend to use this case for many years to come so the expense is quite justified for me.
- Cons: HDD activity LED is so bright at night I felt the need to cover it with opaque material.
- Other Thoughts: I have had no issues with flex or bending; however, I'm not one to be rough with any computer component much less flinging my tower around particularly when I'm aware its made of aluminum. Take some slight care when removing the modules and you shouldn't have any issues.
Nice case
- Pros: Unlike what some reviewers say this case is not heavy its light, but I am also comparing this to a Thermaltake Armor. It weights less full than my Armor does empty.
Lots of ventilation and places to mount fans.
- Cons: Side Panels are kinda a pain to put back on.
Bottom of the case has a vent that has holes spaced perfectly for 2 120mm fans, but you cannot put the screen back in unless you cut out the screw holes, and the opening is about 1.5" - 2" longer than 2 120mm fans only reason I can see is that it was originally designed for a radiator but it isnt wide enough for the barbs to fit up through the bottom, and if you mount it inside it can hit the motherboard.
- Other Thoughts: I ordered this case when it was the Shell Shocker @ $129.99 but I didn't receive this case I got the Coolermaster Stacker 830 SE.
Chintzy
- Pros: Lightweight, excellent design, cool looks, easy to work with.
- Cons: Made from aluminum, which while great for weight savings, it needs stiffeners since it's prone to flexing. Door hinges both snapped off the first day. Submitted RMA request to CM, they responded two weeks later stating it was approved, and since then it's been three weeks with no response yet.
- Other Thoughts: The 830 series of cases have all of the potential for being awesome if they can beef up the design better. If CM's tech support doesn't pull through with replacing the door hinges, this will be the last case I'll ever buy from them.
