4 out of 5 eggsStill Housing The Bits

Pros: Bought this back in 2009 for a budget rig. Over the years I've gotten back into gaming, so I've been upgrading.

My latest upgrade was a HD 7970 to replace a HD 6850. I was a bit surprised to see the 7970 wouldn't fit due to the HDD cage. Like the other reviewer, I went ahead removed it (drilled out the rivets)...problem solved.

I'll run this a couple more years at least.

Cons: Cage has to be removed as cards become larger and larger. Not a really a problem with the case, just a sign of the time.

Perhaps a removable cage could have been used instead of riveted in.

5 out of 5 eggs6 Years of excellence

Pros: This case caught my eye back in 2007 when I was building a new rig. It cost me $90 and it was a great investment. Sturdy and pretty. The clamshell doors allow any positioning on the left or the right side of your work table. You get a great access to your DVD-RW without having to deal with right/left hinged door. Filters on the front panel are great and easy to take out and clean.

Cons: Not really a con to a modder or anyone who knows how to use a Dremel, but: The HDD cage inside is positioned perpendicularly to the side panel, this highly limits the airflow from the front (intake) 120mm fan. Also, it doesn't allow for the latest High-end GPU to be installed without being 5mm from it. So, I removed the cage completely and to remove some more airflow restrictions I cut out the factory pressed grills on the front and the back of the case. Rear holw is now covered with wire grill and the front one is hidden behind fron t panel. The case still looks stock but makes less hissing noise when the air tunnels through it. and I was able to lower the temps inside at least 8*C. As for cable management, I made a few square cuts outs on the motherboard tray. Some on the bottom when the PCI slots are, and some on the right side of the mobo where 24-pin connector meets the mobo. Now you can barely see any cables in it. All hdds are sitting in 5.25" bays below DVD-RW.

Other Thoughts: EVGAHYBRID:
CPU: Q9550 @3600Mhz
MOBO: EVGA 680i SLI
GPU: 2 EVGA GTX480 SLI
RAM: 8GB PC2-6400 gSkill Pi @ 950Mhz 4-4-4-12
SSD: 240GB Mushkin Chronos Enhanced 7mm SATA3
HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Black SATA2
PSU: 1000W Thermatake
USB 3.0 4 port add-in PCIx1
Boot time 20 seconds flat.

2 out of 5 eggsNo airflow

Pros: Looks sold me on this. I like the design on the outside of this case.

Cons: The inside of this case is sooo small its not even funny. Took me forever to put everything in this.

This case supports 2 - 120MM fans.. thats right.. 2..
And another fan on the side to cool your CPU if you have a heat sink.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this case if you are planning on putting together a gaming rig.

I would suggest using this case to put a computer together for your 5 year old kids to use on nickjr. Cause you will overheat everything you have if you try to put good stuff in it...

I can see why newegg is out of stock on these.. they are worth more at a recycling yard than in your home.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi John,

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with our Cooler Master case. The Mystique tower is a mid size tower with 2 120mm front and rear fans. Depends on the components you are putting into the case, it seems a full tower would be more suitable for your preference. Please take a look at the below websites for all tower size and models. Please contact us on live chat if you need any recommendation or assistance.

Respectfully,
CMUSA Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggsTrue Classic

Pros: Why am I writing a review of a case that's been out of stock for years? I'm not sure, just that I'm looking for a new case and I can't find anything this nice now. I got this for FREE (with rebates) at a Black Friday sale about 5 years ago, and I've replaced everything in it multiple times, and its still going strong. The accessibility is awesome, I love the way the screwless design works for hard drives, DVD drives, expansion cards, etc. The filters work great, and the lights are attractive and modern.

Cons: None. They should make a new version with USB 3 and e-sata on the top. Oh, and it should be free.

Other Thoughts: Maybe someone will read this sometime, but probably not.

5 out of 5 eggsBest case

Pros: Excellent Construction, very durable. Simple and stylish design, no plastic. I could write pages about how great this case is, but the bottom line is, This is the best case I've ever owned.

Cons: The shipping is't free.

Other Thoughts: More cases should be like this.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent chassis

Pros: beautiful construction, no-tools design works well, heavy-duty construction, excellent ventilation

Cons: the USB, firewire, mic and headphone jacks being located on top of the case can be inconvenient if you have this case on your desk, and if you place it on a carpeted floor, the doors can drag along the carpet . . . still, minor cons for such a nice case.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd the first one because the doors were damaged (top arms were bent) and didn't close right and, true to form, Newegg's "Eggcelent" customer service came through and I had a replacement in less than a week. Way to go, Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Lots and lots of room. Pretty much if you can buy the part, you can fit it in this case. Nice layout and easy to work on or to build out. Case is SOLID. No bending, or fiddling with side doors to get them on. Over all the case is very quiet. Between the thick opening doors and the bulk of the case, nice sound deafening. Seems to do well on keeping the temp's down, I don't have lots of fans, so I attribute that to good airflow/case design.

At the current price this this is a deal.

Cons: It is fairly heavy before you build it out. If you put in a good Power Supply, 3 or 4 Hard drives and some disk drives, etc you'll get a work out picking the completed PC up. Not really a con if you don't lug your pc around. I don't so not a problem for me but thought you should know just in case. Specs say it is 30 lbs empty. So count on a high 30 LB to low 40 LB finished product once you add everything.

Other Thoughts: While the clam shell doors are neat, you get to the point were you will just leave them open. I guess that is me just being lazy. It does look great with the doors closed.
No problems with the case and I have had it for over two years. Replaced another case that had a bad on button. This case has solidly built parts from top to bottom. I paid more than the current price and don't feel bad at all. Buy it and be happy, unless you want to carry it around with you. You will need a dolly or hand truck!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Case

Pros: This is great, both for it's aesthetic qualities, and for it's build. The inside is spacious, with plenty of room around the edges to run extra cables, though if you were to fill all the 5.25 inch bays, there would be some clutter from the power cables. The side door and tool-less interior is great, and the case cooling keeps everything happy. Also, the swivel door on front is very sturdy, and having the front ports on tops is much more convenient than how most cases have them.

Cons: I did have a little trouble with the tool-less PCI card holder catching on the fan casing for my radeon 4890, and I also had to remove the side duct because it was hitting my CPU cooler and the side panel wouldn't close.
