Examine the Chakra case from Enermax with your third eye and you’ll see that it’s the case for you. It comes with plenty of features to keep your computer working in harmonious balance. Its solid black design exemplifies solidity and stability. But it’s what’s on the inside that matters. The reversible 250mm fan on the side panel keeps everything inside cool. If you find it necessary to add additional fans there are mounting holes on the front and back that support 80/90/120mm fans.

The front panel has five external 5.25” drive bays and one external 3.5” bay. The top two bays have drop down covers for your optical drives so you don’t have to worry about matching colors. On the top of the front panel are the power and reset buttons, two USB ports, audio ports and an eSATA port. Top mounting makes access easier, especially if you have the case on the floor by your desk.

Tool free mounting rails and a removable hard drive cage make setting up your system a pleasant process. The expansion slots have pop out covers and instead of screws they have retention clips for fast secure mounting of video cards and other add ones.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent, but dent

Pros: The Chakra is an excellent case. 1 big fan and the other 2 sizable ones. I found the cd tray to be a lot more "workable" with than other reviews made it seem. I was kind of scared also, by reviews stating they had a broken plastic piece near the power button. However, mine hasn't broke so far so I'm pretty happy. All of the screwless stuff is really neat, though the expansion ports in the back feel a little flimsy.

Cons: I got a dent in the side of mine, either UPS or Enermax, idk. It's on the top edge, about 1" by 1" but didn't affect putting the case together, so I'm not returning it. It makes me wish there was a 3.5 egg.

Other Thoughts: Esata in the front is sweet. Also, the front mesh comes with a filtery material for dust which is sweet.

3 out of 5 eggsThis would be a five egg review...

Pros: Two years ago I built a computer with this case, and I absolutely love it. You don't need any extra fans at all because the large fan on the side provides more than adequate cooling.

I pretty much love everything about this case, so when I built another system in Jan. of 2010 I bought another one.

Cons: It's been about six months since I sent in my mail in rebate material, and I still haven't received my check.

All the other MIR checks from this system build (in January 2010) have arrived. Once they get my rebate to me, this review will go to five eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case!

Pros: This is a great case! I love the screwless hard drive assembly. The eSATA port on top of the case is an excellent design also! Solidly built. No problems after 1 year.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsBroken out of the box.

Pros: Looks nice, 1 of the 3 I ordered wasn't broken.

Cons: 2 of the 3 I got were broken out of the box. The plastic that holds the front I/O interface on was completely broken and the power switch was also broken. The plastic that holds the front plate on was also broken in area, though not completely broken off like the front I/O interface

5 out of 5 eggsPretty... "cool"

Pros: I was slightly skeptical at first, but the reviews were right - the fan is SILENT. I often am afraid the switch turned it off because it's so quiet. It also does a fantastic job keeping my PC's guts cool. Plus, the hard drive bay being turned to the side is nice, especially when you have a monster-size graphics card right next to it.

Cons: The way the front cover handles the drive bays is neat, but doesn't like to work with all CD/DVD/whatever drives.

Other Thoughts: Could've had a bit more instructions, but thankfully the motherboard I bought made up for it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case, poor packaging?

Pros: If you want a quiet case, THIS IS IT! I can hear my own breathing over the amount of noise the massive side fan makes. Almost perfect location for the front panel items (usb, power button, reset, etc). I love how the front panel has a little flap to cover all the buttons!

Cons: One complaint... I received a broken front panel. The shipping box was in perfect condition, so it seemed like the case was put in to styrofoam packing that was the wrong size or something... The plastic clips that hold the front panel in place were all broken, so the front (top) panel was sitting loosely on the top of the case... I didn't want to waste my time and money shipping it back for a replacement, a $3 tube of Krazy Glue that I had in my drawer and a few minutes fixed the problem.

Other Thoughts: I love how quiet the MASSIVE side fan is! I like that there aren't any irritating LED lights on the tower. The front panel is in a PERFECT location with the little flap to cover the buttons from my 2-year-old son!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent appearance, good layout, plenty of room, DEAD SILENT

Cons: Either poorly chosen plastic compounds, or the batch I got mine from was collectively dropped off a truck.

Other Thoughts: Both units arrived broken from separate sequential shipments, causing an embarrassing delay for a customer build. Cross shipping wasn't an offered option for unit one, so I purchased a second to speed up the process. Unit two arrived broken in a similar fashion. Fortunately Newegg and Enermax were helpful, though the time loss was substantial.

5 out of 5 eggsYou'll keep this case longer than the parts you put in it

Pros: Large, well-built, well-designed case. Good tool-less design for HDDs and expansion bays, plus the option to use screws if you would rather. Removable HDD cage so you can easily install a full-size 120mm fan in the front. (I used this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999346) Room for a full-size 120mm fan in the rear (I used the non-PWM version of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186024 ). The 250mm side fan moves lots of air very quietly, providing great video cooling. Tons of room inside to put anything you want, and mesh filters pre-installed on the front panel to cut down on dust and lint buildup. Nice long power cable on the 250mm, even if it is a molex plug.

Cons: Tool-less PCI slot clips are pretty bad. Flip-top panel cover can break easily if you're not careful. Front panel connectors are not grouped together, but this is a non-issue if your mobo has something like ASUS's EZ-connect. The 250mm can let in tons of dust in lint in some environments, even when switched to exhaust. You WANT to put a filter on that vent.

Other Thoughts: I've used four of these cases now, two for myself and two for other folks. I was pleasantly surprised that they come with some cable management hardware. I'm not sure why people are having problems with the optical covers; I've had zero issue with them on any of my cases.

Enermax has great case design and solid manufacturing. If they can bring their bells and whistles up to the same standard (PWM fans, good tool-less clips, etc.) they'll be able to compete with the big names in cases. I'd love to see an Enermax case with a focus on thermal and noise reduction.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty nice case

Pros: Nice looking case. The big side fan is quiet but moves a lot of air. It's very roomy

Cons: There weren't enough stand-offs to accomidate my Intel DP35DP motherboard so I couldn't put all the screws into the board (3 stand-offs short). The side rails for the hard drives didn't fit perfectly so I couldn't use them all. DVD drive button is touchy. At first, it didn't work at all! But as others said, you MUST be careful installing you CD/DVD drives. If the drive is too far forward, the button will be pushed in (making your drive door not open... as what happened to me). Just have to play with the positioning to get it just right, but works well after that.

Other Thoughts: I hadn't had any issues with the front

3 out of 5 eggsCheap plastic brings this case down

Pros: Although I haven't built 100s of systems like some may have, I've seen a few cases new and old and this one is a decent design, however..

Cons: There were a few tabs and posts broken upon receiving the shipment. After I got a replacement front panel from Enermax (they were faster than Newegg CS) I realized some of them were from the top piece where all the ports are, and needless to say having that whole piece loose and moving around is not very good. I would have rather had the cracked front panel rather than the top piece with the power and reset buttons as well as all the ports. Personally if feels more like 2 1/2 eggs, not recommended.

Other Thoughts: Must be why there was a deal with rebate. Frankly I'm disappointed in the worksmanship of this case. Maybe if they used better plastic, or just designed it so the tabs and posts were stronger somehow.. Don't even feel like building anymore and it's going to be a hassel trying to glue some pieces back on to make the ports stay.

Manufacturer Response:

Sincerely,

Team Enermax USA
