Antec Mini P180 White Steel MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Antec’s Mini P180 is designed to be seen and not heard. Developed in collaboration with silent PC experts, everything has been done to minimize any noise from the components within the case. Based on the successful P182, it fits the microATX form factor. Graphics cards with full-length PCB’s can be accommodated in any of the 4 expansion slots. A total of eight drive bays provide maximum configuration flexibility with three front-accessible 5.25” and a single 3.5” drive plus five more internal 3.5” internal HDD’s.

A heat-reducing dual chamber design separates the heat generated by the power supply from the CPU and expansion cards. The interior is cooled by a 120mm TriCool 3-speed fan mounted on the rear as well as a 200mm TriCool fan mounted on the top. Both feature external speed controls. Mounts are provided for a pair of 120mm fans in the front chamber if additional cooling is required. The clear airflow paths allow the fans to operate at lower speeds – and lower sound volumes.

The cable management system provides unobstructed airflow through the case as well as adding convenience when replacing or installing components. The innovative three-layer plastic and aluminum side panels further dampen system noise to result in one of the quietest cases on the market. Two USB 2.0 and an eSATA port are mounted on the front for easy access along with the headphone and microphone jacks.

  • newegg Cable Management Options The Cable management system in the Mini P180 increases airflow and increases performance as well as increasing the convenience of working inside the case.
  • newegg Quiet Operations The three-layer side panel combines aluminum and plastic to dampen noise. The case is designed with sound in mind and can be considered one of the quietest cases on the market.
  • newegg Upper and Lower Chamber Structure The power supply is in a separate lower chamber to decrease heat in the most vital areas of your case.

3 out of 5 eggscomparing

Pros: Antec quality, features, ease of build just like the P-183 I own

Cons: Putting ext peripherals at the bottom of the case. I will not buy because of this. I will not have ext peripherals at the bottom when INTERNAL drives should be there

Other Thoughts: Change design and I buy. Otherwise it is Lian Li

5 out of 5 eggsQuality mATX Chassis Solution

Pros: Builders often find out the “marketing sizzle offers more than the quality of the steak” where computer chassis build and design quality is concerned. This is true even where the cost is nearly the same.

Often a shortsighted designed approach does not become evident until a builder discovers the materials used in manufacturing are as thin as the paper used for marketing purposes or otherwise becomes fully entangled in a frustrating assembly process.

Antec’s solution here instead takes the high road with a moderately priced offering that employs premium chassis features along with quality of design and workmanship that should last years.

Cons: None, it really is quiet!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Very solid case with good sound dampening built it. Great air flow with the huge fan on top. I have this case with 3 hard drives (case includes rubber dampers to mount drives) and can't hear the computer when it's on (after market CPU cooler helps this as well). Love the case and ended up getting another.

Cons: The power supply mounts on the bottom so the power cables might be a bit short with some power supplies. I bought some cheap extenders. Not the cases fault so still 5 star.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Beautiful looking and very sturdy case. Had never bought an Antec case before, but always wanted to. I am not regretting that decision one bit.

Cons: The door was detached when I got it and it took me about 5 mins to get it back on right.

5 out of 5 eggsFavorite case

Pros: Top quality finishing. Easy to do a build with. Designed for quiet running and.....gaming using a single card. Looks...I hate bling and this just substitutes class in exchange.

Cons: Know what your purchasing here. It is a large and heavy mid-tower and uses a micro ATX board. If you want to build a monster box.....this is not for you. If you want to build a smaller "Mini".....this isn't it either. If you are a Silent PC Freak...it gets close but not totally silent without fan RPM mod(You can hear a whisper of the fan @ 16"). What you get is a smaller version of it's full size bretheren. (P-180,P-182 etc...) Nothing here is a con.

Other Thoughts: I did the research and this fits my needs perfectly. Close, close to silent, stays cool,a snap to work in, Armani looks (I have the brushed gun metal version.) and the quality still impresses me after long ownership. (This white model has an "Apple" look I guess.) I am glad to see this still available and try to "cache" these for future builds. My build looks all business so I really appreciate it when I bring it "out to play"! SMOKES!!!!!! Purchased here at the egg and what a business model this place is. Hard work shows.

4 out of 5 eggsCase of the future but mini She is not

Pros: Quiet - This case is absolutely silent with the 200 and 120mm fans on low. This of course will depend on what else you put inside but the sound proofing afforded to this machine should go a ways to diminish any noise produced inside the case.

Cable Management - There is a half inch space behind the motherboard tray in which to route all of your cabling. I have every cable coming through or wrapping around specifically to where it's needed, meaning there is no extra cable to be found anywhere besides the main ATX power connector and any un-needed cabling is bunched back in that space.

Space - 3 5.25" external bays (with 1 optional 3.5" converter) and 5 internal 3.5 inch bays in 2 removable cages. That's more room than most people will ever need.

Packaging - Comes packed extremely well and all of the outside panels are coated in protective plastic. There is even a small box built onto one of the hard drive cages to hold the excess screws for future use.

Cons: In no way "Mini" - Check the size specs if you plan on putting this thing anywhere a full ATX case wouldn't fit. Despite only holding a micro ATX board, this case is easily the size of the Antec 300 or other Full ATX cases. It's actually almost as large as my old favorite cooler master ammo 533 - which is the biggest case I've ever owned.

Paper Cuts? - Strange to find some sharp edges (the hard way) inside such a high quality case, but I have 4 paper-cuts on my hands as proof.

Minor Oversights - The 2 hard drive cages are not interchangeable. Extra fans can not be installed while the cages are in place. The rubber washers inside the top hard drive cage constantly fall out unless they're attached with a screw to the hard drive/cage.

Other Thoughts: This is a great box with some caveats. I currently have it running with an AMD Regor 260 and 785 chipset board. Using a fan less heat sink results in an almost entirely silent computer, the only exception being the hard drive noises. Temperatures are quite low as well.

5 out of 5 eggsone of best cases out there - still room for improvement

Pros: one of the best cases out there - along with Antec P183 & another Antec case or two (forgot model) - but this one like those are still not perfect and have room for improvement.

Cons: Front cover looks a bit odd.

It always makes me cringe when there are "air filters" but yet tons of other places for air to enter the case with no filters - WHY!!!!???

Not a big deal - I get HVAC tape for 7 bucks a roll that lasts years - it doesn't leave a mess, and its metal so might also help w/ EMI emissions reduction and seals 'em up well.

Other Thoughts: also - what's up with the separate chambers that aren't really sealed-off from each other that well? Also, the intake on the bottom doesn't do jack when its sitting on carpet (as the carpet comes up through the vent and clogs it completely, so good thing the chambers aren't sealed-off well. Also, front lets in air around half-height bays that isn't filtered - not too big of a deal to seal up though - doing all the sealing really makes a difference - most air is "clean" so nearly no dust inside compared to others beside it that look like grey snow storm inside. Never run fans on anything but low (its pointless - as they move so much air even on low). I still say its one of the best cases out there - keeps HDDs cool, can hold 5 of 'em (or more w/ HH adapters for optical drive bays), PSU runs cooler, overall great.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful oddity

Pros: Great airflow
Tons of room for additional fans and/or hard drives
Good cable management
Just about everything pops or slides out
No rough edges (well-machined)

Cons: It's huge, it weighs a ton, and the mATX motherboard bay is still somehow super cramped. You have to put this baby together in the correct order, and heaven help you if you ever need to change anything (e.g. add more RAM); the whole thing needs to come apart. (Fortunately, that's not such a big deal, thanks to all the Pros per the above, but it's still time-consuming.) Pay particular attention to the size of your video card; it took some effort to squeeze a GTS 250 (re-branded 9800+ GTX) in there.

Otherwise, I have the black matte version and fingerprints, scratches, and dust are very noticeable.

Other Thoughts: As noted in the Cons, I have the black matte version of this case. I fell in love almost immediately and it's been (mostly) a pleasure to build and tweak the system over the past 8 months. I cleaned the dust filters for the first time last night and I couldn't believe (1) how effective they are at capturing dust on the intake and (2) how easy they were to remove, clean, and put back in. Fun little surprises like that lead me to believe that I'll be using and enjoying this case for a long, long time.
