Nice case with some problems
- Pros: The case itself is beautiful. The LCD panel gives it a nice look. This case doesn't look like your typical computer and will fit right in to your home entertainment system without looking out of place.
- Cons: Unfortunately, this case's power supply is a special fit. Also, the LCD panel doesn't currently work with Linux (the company that makes it has no plans to support Linux).
I contacted Antec for a list of power supplies that I could replace the 350w with. They told me there was no replacement for the 350w that would fit.
- Other Thoughts: If a 350w power supply is good enough, and you are not using Linux, then this case is very nice.
I also bought a micro atx power supply from newegg and it didn't fit. No problem with Newegg. Just be careful that standard micro-atx power supplies probably won't fit.
The dimensions for the case's power supply are 3 1/2 " high, 6" long, and 2 1/2 " wide. the important dimensions are the height and width for fitting in the case.
a mechanical might mare
- Pros: This case looks good and will fit nicely in a home theater set up unfortunately the people that designed it never tried to equip it with a MB and a HD. I used a MSI Media live Diva M/B with the 5.1 amplifier board
- Cons: The M/B does not fit, I had to remove the HD cage that is attached with 4 screws on the bottom and side of the case, but to make things more challenging, with 2 rivets on the front panel. I had to drill the rivets (with the risk of metal shaving inside the case) to take out the cage to fit the M/B. The back panel I/O shield supplied with the M/B has a 1/10 of an inch conductive padding glued to it that has to be pulled out so the M/B aligns with the screw holes at the bottom of the case. And that's not all, in order to remove the HD cage the LCD panel has to be taken out since the side latches holding it are sticking on the way of taking the cage out. In my case the LCD panel stick to the front panel and the flat panel ribbon slip out of its connector, putting it back is a Swiss watch maker job. I have not mounted the ODD yet, but the cage came out of the case without drama so hopefully no more surprises.
- Other Thoughts: It is difficult to imagine why such a mechanical might mare has been introduced to the market when a simple increase in lenght of the case of one and half inch will have solved all those problems
