Antec's thoughtfully-designed P193 case brings you top performance and unique style, with its three-layer, sound-deadening panels. Inside, a separate lower chamber houses your power supply (purchased separately), isolating its heat and reducing system noise. The upper chamber comes standard with a rear 120mm and two top 140 mm TriCool fans, with a huge 200mm side fan for cool your dual VGA cards.
The three-layer side panel and front door stifle system noise for peace and quiet, then opens 270-degrees for easy access. Front-mounted ports give you easy access to two USB 2.0 connectors, one eSATA connector, and audio jacks. Rear panel features external controls for the fans in the upper chamber.
You'll have all the room you need to build your dream system in this case, with bays for four external 5.25" drives, one external 3.5" drive and six internal 3.5" drives. There's space for an ATX motherboard up to 12"(W) x 9.6"(L), seven expansion slots, and rubber-grommeted mounts on the rear for an optional external liquid cooling system. Built-in cable organizer behind motherboard tray keeps your cables under control. This wonderful case has everything you need to build your white hot gaming system!

Side fan intrusion is easily fixed
- Pros: High quality build. Relatively quiet operation for the amount of cooling it can generate.
- Cons: It's big. It's heavy. It's aesthetically challenged. But you aren't buying it for its portability and looks, are you? I would have given 5 eggs if the side fan didn't intrude into the interior, but that's easily fixed -- see below.
- Other Thoughts: Everyone mentions that the side fan intrudes about 11 mm into the case, interfering with tall coolers. However as another reviewer already described, the fix takes less than 10 minutes and an allen wrench.
The side fan assembly is clamped onto the panel from each side. Unscrew the fan assembly from the inside (that's where you need the allen wrench), pop in 4 washers to keep the screws from passing through the holes (I used 7/16" washers from Hom Dep.), and screw the fan assembly back onto the OUTSIDE of the case. Remember to pass the power lead through the hole into the case before you screw the assembly back on. I chose to leave the fan controller switch on the outside as I like to fine tune fan speeds on the fly.
The whole process takes about 10 minutes and is easier than any of the other steps needed to assemble a custom computer. The side fan now sticks out another 11 mm, but it's already sticking out anyway and the extra is not noticeable.
Great Hybrid gaming/quiet PC
- Pros: This case has great features that I found useful for both gaming and at the same time, being able to run a quiet PC. i like to keep my computer on a night and my old one used to keep me up. the 200mm side fan keeps my video card cool. I've had no problems using the cooler master v8(one of the most difficult cpu coolers to install btw).
- Cons: the side fan, but i understand why the put it on the outside. i would have love to see a black interior, but no side window would make that sort of useless i guess.
- Other Thoughts: overall this case is a great product. the build quality is solid and i love the features that makes it great for gaming, but allows you to run something that doesn't sound like a jet engine when it's on.

Extra Cool
- Pros: Big, lots of room for cables and graphics cards. Pleanty of air flow with lots of fans.
I have an i7-920 and 2-GTX 285s and this thing has pleanty of airflow to keep them cool.
Feels sturdy and I think it will last a long time.
- Cons: Cheap rubber foot pads. I've had it a week and 2 of the 4 have already fallen off. Don't move it around on carpet at all.
Excellent case!
- Pros: Many fans equals less over-heating and less noise, meaning that each can run at low settings to keep temps of mobo and processor under 45 celcius -- except the top back fan, I run at medium since it's an exhaust fan, helping to suck out dust and heat. With such a setting, I barely hear the case fans at all. Yet I play my games with head phones, so I'm deaf to any fan noise thereafter. As for the graphics card temps, it gets up to 60-64 celcius when playing Call of Duty: World at War in 1024x768 resolution and averge in-game graphic settings. Evga says this is typical for the card, but far from the 90-95 celcius temps which are in the over-heating range. So it seems the fans are keeping it down as well.
- Cons: PRICE > But then again, you're getting a lot of fans housed in a fairly big case from a reputable company.
DUST > Make sure you set the case in as dust free area as possible, else you're going to do frequent internal cleaning. But dust is less harmful to computers than over-heating. I'll take my chances with the dust than the heating. CLEANING > Every other day I clean out the front screen vents. Not a lot of work but that's what happens with this much opening in the case.
- Other Thoughts: I recommend this case to serious gamers -- people who plan to play 6-20 hours straight -- with as few breaks in between as reasonable -- using high quality parts. In my opinion, that's what this case is designed for. When building into the case, the back, narrow section is excellent for passing power supply cables through. This eliminates clutter of cables and wires from the front of the mobo and peripherals. The less clutter in front, the easier it will be to replace a faulty graphics card, for example, without wrestling with cable positions. This also helps keep things cool. Another unique factor is the separation of compartment for the mobo and her family of contact, from the power supply. In most cases these days, everything is in one room. Not with the P-193. I've read that the PS is the hottest unit, thus it makes sense to keep it away from everything else. I purchased the optional fan separately for the PS, even though Corsair said my 650watt doesn't really need it.
Unacceptably POOR Customer Service
- Pros: See previous review
- Cons: As stated in my previous review, this case arrived with a broken front panel. After 6 weeks of trying to get some response from Antec Customer service, I was finally advised they would receive replacement panels at the end of FEBRUARY. This equates to a FOUR MONTH wait for a replacement part.
- Other Thoughts: This is the most expensive Antec case NewEgg sells and the idea that Antec finds it perfectly acceptable to let a customer wait 4 months for service--on a premium product--is abhorrent. I have built 5 systems in Antec cases over the last 2 years, but never again. Frankly, if I hadn't already built this system I'd RMA the case and buy Lian Li. I may anyway.

The maximum height for heat sink fans with the P193 is 140mm
Dual chamber design isolates heat and noise: the power supply resides in a separate chamber to isolate heat and reduce system noise
Innovative two-layer, sound-deadening side panels (steel, polycarbonate) and three-layer front door (aluminum, plastic, aluminum) dampen noise and ensure Quiet Computing
Front door vents, as well as wider vents along the door frame, improve airflow into the chassis.
Filters and filter doors are integrated as one unit. The doors themselves have been modified to provide greater airflow, resulting in cooler system temperatures.
Drive bay covers are vented and include air filters to provide better airflow.
Lower chamber fan is now located in front of the hard drive cage, allowing for installation of longer PSUs as well as easier cable routing between the lower HD cage and the power supply.
The Big Boy 200, a 200mm fan, is moved outward to give more clearance for taller heatsinks. Externally removable washable air filter allows for easier maintenance. |
