4 out of 5 eggsPretty cool with i3-3220

Pros: Cool Case. Easiest build you'll ever do. If you just need a htpc that can pretty much do everything in the smallest form factor...this is it.

- Great Case ventilation due to mesh externals
- Extremely small, simple, yet elegant design
- Cools fine with stock intel i3 3220 cooler...with AC MX-2 paste, I get 29-37c browsing the internet, watching videos. Haven't really done any video editing yet...but this thing is almost silent at idle. I set it to automatic fan control in the bios and it's whisper quiet and hardly noticeable.

With the I3-3220 I have a system that can basically do anything with the exception of playing graphically intensive games.

- External PSU is great
- 4 usb in front
- Nice mounting options..I like the nice little stand
- Sturdy plastic casing, and nice looking paint / color combo

Cons: - Size constraints means no dvd drive or discrete video card
- Negotiating the motherboard inside the case can be tricky. You need to tidy up the wires well
- NO USB 3.0 in the front, USB 2.0 only. Doesn't come with adapter.
- No memory stick option in the front either. I really think this should be standard in a case like this.
- While the plastic material is sturdy, and the finish is smooth and feels great, aluminum would be a lot nicer.

I love this build. And while it lacks additions the isk-300 offers, it sure is a lot cooler looking than the isk 300 with it's very small footprint.

Gamers will scream for a video card slot...unfortunately having a video card slot makes any case that much longer and bulkier, making guy/gals like me screaming for a smaller case.

It's a juggling act, and you really need to decide what you need. I can live without a graphics card and games. If you can't step up to the bigger ISK-300 or a cube style case. I would recommend the A10-5800k apu type system that could play games but unfortunately the psu probably won't be able to handle it...it would definitely be pushing the limits any way.

Other Thoughts: Components:

Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3
Windows 7
Intel i3 3220
Asrock H77Mitx
Samsung 120GB SSD for OS
500GB Seagate 2.5 inch 5400rpm drive for storage

3 out of 5 eggsFan dead in under a year

Pros: Update to my previous review. Hard drive heat has not been a problem.

Cons: The fan has gone out and it may be difficult to find a replacement that will fit.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi EdSysAdmin,

I apologize for the fan going out and we'd be happy to get you a replacement under warranty. Please contact us at VIP@antec.com and one of our reps will be in touch with you promptly. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsGreate design, poor engineering

Pros: The design is very nice: compact and works well.
1) The case is small enough to sit on desktop. Other 'itx' cases are indeed too big for me.
2) The fan is large enough to be quiet. Ventilation is good with all the holes.
3) The external power design saved a lot of space, and it is actually quite efficient.

Cons: The engineering is a disaster
1) The p4 CPU power cord is 5 centimeter too short. Most intel itx boards have the p4 port at the lower left corner, where the p4 cord has no way to reach. Can not imagine how the cord length was determined.
2) The motherboard plate window (or the screw locations are too low) is off by ~1.5mm. I had to do a mod to the plate so that the motherboard could be installed.
3) The power converter board was ~1mm too wide, such that it pushed against the motherboard.... or the screw locations was too high (opposite to 2).
4) The USB cords push against the memory slots because they need to make a sharp turn at where they are mounted . The front USB connectors should have been layed out better to make more space.

Other Thoughts: Hope it had USB 3.0 connectors.
The i3-2100 fan is too high by ~3mm. I guess the i3-3100T fan should fit in well.

4 out of 5 eggsSmallest case I've seen

Pros: Super small case, power adapter is not too big either. Power button is not hidden, like some mini-itx cases. Four front USB ports are a plus.

Cons: The alignment of the motherboard to the rear panel opening is slightly off. I had to use tin-snips on the mobo i/o shield in order for the connections to line up to the holes. The front USB and audio header cables are excessively long while the four-pin CPU power connector was too short. I had to get an adapter for the CPU power connection.

Other Thoughts: This is a nice little case, possibly the smallest. I like it, however, one should be aware that some modifications to the i/o shield will need to be made as the alignment of the motherboard is off. Also, make sure the four-pin CPU power connection is closer to the front of the case or you will need an adapter for it to reach (or cut and splice the wires).

5 out of 5 eggsLoved it!

Pros: Very small, quiet, inexpensive (bought with MIR). No need to buy power supply.

Cons: So small, it was a little difficult to fit everything inside. Requires SSD or external HD. I'm just using a thumb drive right now to run Linux.

Other Thoughts: Didn't have any of the other problems listed in reviews. Plate lined up & the fan is far from loud. I can't hardly hear it.

5 out of 5 eggsslight update

Pros: -

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: slight update to what i wrote below, i have since been told that it was not necessary to cut off the "feet" of the stock A4 cpu fan in order for it to fit in this case. It looks like it wont fit but apparently closes fine.

5 out of 5 eggsnew revision?

Pros: I bought this case expecting to have to return it for an inadequate power supply and back IO shield problem that others have stated. This was not the case, IO shield aligns perfectly with my motherboard. Fit is very tight. Had to remove from cover to put in mobo then replace front cover afterward.

Cons: Im not sure if this is a new revision or possibly my motherboard is just slightly different than the other people with the IO shield problem. I would say its maybe off by 1 or 2mm but not more, and its not enough to prevent you from plugging in anything.

Other Thoughts: AMD A4-3300
ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe FM1
GSKILL 2X4G DDR3-1600
Seagate sata2 2.5" HDD 5400rpm
CPU undervolted slightly with k10stat:
idle temp 2*C at 19 watts
load temp 30*C at 57 watts
ambient temp = 68*F
These are total system power loads, not cpu only. Using stock AMD A-series cooler. Had to cut off the "feet" of the cpu fan yielding 5 less mm of vertical height so the side cover could be closed.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Its cool looking, great PSU, lots of ventilation, good HDD location, the fan is very quiet

Cons: The I/O plate is off set so it won’t line up when the motherboard is put it.
The power button broke on me after 4 months
The front panel audio/USB connectors are ridiculously long
Too expensive for such a low quality case

Other Thoughts: This is the second Antec case I've had problems with. They do make good power supplies though

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Looks reasonably nice.

Cons: I was a initially little disappointed in the size of this case. I have used some inWin cases with a fully internal power supply that is almost the same size as this case. I had expected having an external power supply would make this one smaller, but it just barely was. The bigger problem was the fact that the mounting posts and/or rear cutout aren't in the right positions. I had intended to install an Intel DH61 motherboard, but was unable to get it to line up correctly. Having never used that particular motherboard before I next attempted an Intel D525MW and had the same issue.

Other Thoughts: If they had simply mounted the DC-DC converter PCB on the side of the case they could have shaved another inch or so off the overall size. Furthermore it would be nice if they had only accommodated a single 2.5" drive and perhaps tucked it into the base to make this thing sleeker (if that's a real word). If the posts and holes had lined up I probably would have kept it.
