Antec kick-started the quiet computing revolution with the introduction of Sonata, the first computer case to combine style and performance in an enclosure designed from the ground up to be completely quiet. Since then, Sonata has sold over half a million units worldwide and the demand continues to grow. Sonata II combines the classic style and silent performance of the original Sonata with an upgraded SmartPower2.0 450 power supply and innovative new cooling design for handling the latest, fastest technologies.

Most of Antec's PC enclosures stick to their tradition of conservative case designs. They typically stay away from stuffing the case with lights, and very few of their cases even feature a window. Instead, their focus is on quiet computing and simple elegance. A perfect example would be the Sonata II. With the words Silence is Beautiful stamped across the front of the box, the idea of quiet computing is obvious. Rather than use three or more 80mm fans to put airflow through the enclosure, Antec has switched to 120mm fans in the front and rear. This leaves us with nice options if the stock level of cooling isn't enough. We can always switch to a fan with higher CFM ratings to create a wind tunnel for the computer.

This is a great, quiet case for holding every piece of game gear you can imagine, all under a hood designed to leave your enemies guessing!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Well built case, solid construction and offers a lot of expandability.

Cons: If you like dust in your case this is the one for you. Both my CD & DVD burners are clogged with dust and I have had to replace the rear fan 3 times and the cpu fan twice. I have a dell next to it that is fine so it is not the location of the case that is the problem.

5 out of 5 eggsIN one word QUIET!

Pros: Hands down one of the best cases made. I have configured probably 20 or so custom configurations with this case over the last year and have not had one complaint from a customer yet.

Cons: None...If you want quiet and all business from a case and it look good to then this is the case for you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Easy set up and access to hard drives. Excellent quality. Very heavy and very quiet.

Cons: Almost impossible to run IDE drives unless you build your own ribbon cabling.

Other Thoughts: Good choice for that 'perfect' machine.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU Marginal

Pros: Attractive case, sturdy. Suffient room for building and modifying. I liked it enough that I bought a second case a few months after the first. These were on sale at one time for $45 after rebate - a good buy as long as you discard the PSU.

Cons: PSU failed abrubtly at @13 months - replaced under warranty but I substituted a better unit. Had to pay for returning failed unit and wait for acceptance.

Other Thoughts: Replacement took 6 e-mail exchanges and 25 days - far too long for a unit used daily.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

Pros: -Very Quiet
-Good Power supply
-Excellent Warranty
-Great cooling system... gets air flow to where it matters most

Cons: -SP-450 power supply cables are a little short... SATA power cables won't reach to all drive bays

Other Thoughts: This is a great case, I've had it for 3 years. Unfortunately the power supply died in 2 years and 4 months. BUT ANTEC STOOD BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. They upgraded the discontinued SP-450 power supply for a newer EarthWatts EA-500 power supply! Not only is the EarthWatts more efficient, but they also gave me a better PSU! The equivalent would have been the EA-430.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: The PSU is very quiet.

The case feels sturdy. I have had no problems with the door on the front of the case, unlike some other reviewers.

All of the drive bays are easy to access and easy to use; the layout shows careful thought. I like the rubber mounts for the internal dive bays, and also how all the drives "click" into place securely, but with ease.

It looks beautiful.

Cons: The blue LEDs on the front of the case are too bright; I unplugged them.

The plasti-chrome slider covering the front access ports is kind of cheesy, but it functions.

Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd case from the SONATA series that I have used. I find assembly to be a breeze using this case.

Lesser cases can frustrating because things don't fit well, there are sharp edges, the screw-holes don't line up properly, or the PSU fan is loud... But not with the ANTEC cases.

Others have complained about the PSU failing; I have had no such problems.

The Sonata II introduces a large air duct routing from your CPU to the back of the case. You need to remove this in order to access the motherboard (or any components on it).

A lot of reviewers seem to take offense at this duct. If you don't like it, you can just leave it out of the case. I actually believe that the duct helps, because airflow means nothing if the air isn't flowing across the heatsinks.

2 out of 5 eggsAssembly issues

Pros: Quiet as promised, sleak case
Liked the hidden rails in the blank panels

Cons: Fan assembly not attached(rubber divit that hold the fan on were broken)
Case design is combersome need quick release mechanism
Not enough holes to fully secure motherboard

Other Thoughts: Might want to use screwa with rubber washers instead.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Case & Power Supply

Pros: Quiet; All power rails steady with a Core2Quad Q6600; Cool-running.

Cons: Blue front-panel LED's are too bright -- I left them unplugged. Exterior of case is so shiny you'll see every piece of dust that lands on it.

Other Thoughts: One of many Antec Sonata cases that I've worked with. Never had an Antec power supply fail yet (knock on wood)!

3 out of 5 eggsIt's okay.

Pros: Very pretty, lockable, and the front dust-filter's great.

Cons: The power switch busted very early on (and I'm not abusive) and the fans aren't very quiet.

Other Thoughts: I don't mind the fans and I replaced the power switch. It's a good case.
