When Thermatake entered the chassis market, their Xaser series of lightweight aluminum and composite cases stood them apart from the plain beige and plastic cases then on the market. The VG4000BNS Xaser VI continues this trend with its dynamic red and black design and a host of attractive features. Thermaltake cases are designed with cooling in mind.

A 140mm fan draws air in through the lower red mesh of the front bezel and goes out through the 120mm fan in the rear as well as the 140mm top-mounted fan. The VGA cards receive their own inflow of cooling air courtesy of the 140mm fan mounted in the red mesh and black aluminum side panel. Both the front and the rear fans are lit with blue LED's for visual impact. The 140mm fans can be replaced by 120mm fans using the same mounts, and provisions for a pair of additional fans venting through the bottom of the case.

The cavernous interior can fit 10 expansion cards in screwless slots, along with supporting a variety of motherboards in the slide-out tray which keeps everything connected. The case supports a trio of nVidia SLI cards or four ATI Crossfire devices. Up to 14 drives can be installed -- up to seven 3.5" and seven 5.25" drives connected along the edge of the case to improve airflow. An adjustable PSU support bridge provides a wide choice of power supplies. All your connection ports are in easy reach, along with the HD audio input and output jacks, behind a panel on the upper front bezel – surrounding the stylized X-shaped power button. This is the case that lets you grow your system – and look good at the same time.

  • newegg Supreme Expandability with up to 14 Drive Bays Featuring seven 5.25" external drive bays, and seven modularized HDD trays, the Thermaltake Xaser VI provides supreme expandability.
  • newegg Convenient Installation The Thermaltake Xaser VI features a sliding motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices without the need for any tool, saving your precious time.
  • newegg Peerless Cooling Performance The Thermaltake Xaser VI features one 140mm front intake fan, one 140mm VGA cooling fan, one 140mm top exhaust fan and one 120mm rear exhaust fan to optimize internal airflow for peerless cooling performance. The Thermaltake Xaser VI features one 140mm cooling fan on the side panel for maximum VGA cooling, one 120mm fan at the rear for CPU cooling, as well as dual 140mm cooling fans on the top and in the front to optimize internal airflow for peerless cooling performance.
  • newegg Useful Accessory Box The Thermaltake Xaser VI comes with an accessory box that fits into one of the 5.25" drive bays to accommodate your CDs or any other accessories.
  • newegg Convenient Top I/O Panel The convenient top I/O panel enables easy access to four USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port, two eSATA ports and two audio ports.

5 out of 5 eggsLarge

Pros: -Case will have room for anything you need
-Case looks aesthetically pleasing
-Case has good descent cable management abilities.
-Case lights are overly bright.

Cons: -Top rear fin of case is easily broken
-Bottoms are also a strong plastic instead of full on metal

Other Thoughts: This is definitely worth the buy whenever they have it in stock it is probably the coolest case I have seen in person. It is a "MONSTER". You better have enough room for it. The box it comes in is almost the size of a dishwasher.

5 out of 5 eggsThermaltake Xaser VI

Pros: Keeps the whole system cool. Fans run quiet. Ran my PC a week straight and nothing inside was overheating. Looks good and keeps the computer components cool. Worth the amount I paid for.

Cons: Real heavy. Weighs 40 lbs stock. After putting in all my computer components the weight was approximately ~50-60 lbs.

Other Thoughts: Would love to buy another one!

4 out of 5 eggsGood case for GPGPU

Pros: Plenty of space for add-on cards, good cable management possibilities, enough space to naturally plug in five (I THINK) hard drives. The fans are rather quiet. The walls of the case are very easy to take off and put on, which is convenient for upgrades and maintenance. Plastic PCI board holders are convenient. It's good that the walls are semi-transparent: nice to see that internal fans are OK.

Cons: One major problem: THE CASE HAS NO HANDLE. The case is heavy, especially when loaded with hardware and hence hard to move around. They should have added a handle to the rear and front wall somehow.

Several minor issues, each of which one can live with: The right wall of the case is half inch too close to the motherboard tray, so the cables between the tray and wall are too squeezed. The hole in the motherboard tray is too small to pass all the required wiring though. The hard drive cage should have been made larger at the expense of space used for external devices (one can imagine having more than 5 hard drives, but can hardly have 10 or so DVD writers). Having the GPU cooling fan attached to the motherboard tray is a good idea, but the attachment is wobbly. The power supply should have been placed in the bottom, rather than the top of the case for better physical stability. Given the weight of the case, offering optional wheels to move the case around could be a good idea.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken LED

Pros: Great Case- Large enough for whatever you want- Great airflow and cable management. It's not that heavy, some of these peopel need to get away from the computer and lift some weights you girly men, what do you think it is a purse? It doesnt need handles!

Cons: I recieved this item with the HDD active LED not functioning properly. I sent an email to the Thermaltake help department. After two days I recieved the following email;
Would you want to do all this for an LED?

Other Thoughts: Dear Customer,

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Superior

Pros: The best thing I liked about this case besides aethestics..was it's cable management and functionality.
Included in the box were a handful of cable straps.
HDD's are easily installed by sliding out the trays and snapping them into place, and hiding cables is unbelievably simple with both sides of the case being removable, and the spacing between the back of the motherboard and the side of the case.
3 large 140mm installed fans and an extra 140mm fan can be installed primarly under the idea for better GPU cooling.
The case looks fantastic, it's sleek and beastly. It's very solid and has the look and feel of a real quality case.

Cons: The one thing I really don't like about the case is that it doesn't have any handles for picking it up. For being such a heavy case (45.8lbs) handles would seem like an obvious concern. I supoose they didn't want handles to get in the way of the aesthetics..regardless, it really should have handles.

Other Thoughts: Best case I've had so far

5 out of 5 eggsYou Guys Have Got To Do Your Homework!!!

Pros: OK, This is my second Xaser VI case, my Xaser VI Black case has been great,1 year old, I bought it knowing that eventualy it will house an EVGA dual Xeon Classified motherboard which will fit with a minimum of coaksing. I have not one time had issues with the door on top covering the USB plugs. My wife liked my black one so much had to buy her the red one.

Cons: NONE! just a little work on my part because I took it apart and painted everything that was not black a nice satin black. Heck I would give this case 7 eggs if I could. If you are going to cary your desktop around, look for a handle on top :)

Other Thoughts: If you don't take the time to read the Details page all the way through you don't get to wine, so stop taking off eggs for being unable to read to the bottom of the page. Most of the boards out there fit, my wife has a P6X58 D in hers and mine is a Rampage III Formula.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible

Pros: its big, and looks cool i guess. if you have a special motherboard it could be useful i can give it that.

Cons: its TOO big. WAY tooo big and has nowhere good to carry it. the layout is straight up dumb. theres no good cable management and the airflow is especially non-existent. theres a fan on the top blowing into metal. no side fans. one fan on the back, not two. the button cover on the top breaks within a month. the power button itself is dumb and cheap. the door on the front is aggrivating as well.

2 out of 5 eggsToo big; Many cheap parts

Pros: Lots of space for upgrades. Many slots for additional hardware. So many fans, great circulation.

Cons: WAY TOO BIG. Cannot fit in places a computer tower normally should be able to. Many cheap parts ie the front power center cover is so poorly made. Too often needs readjusting. Top slides off and always comes off track. Poor design. Poor Quality. Too Big. Don't buy it.
