Thermaltake's VI1000BWS is an affordable, no-nonsense case that combines style, function and performance. Part of the M9 series of mid-tower cases, it has plenty of room for expansion and tons of potential for modders. It holds up to nine 5.25" drives with the option to convert one of the external bays being convertible to mount a 3.5" drive. The three internal drives mount into a front removable cage – and like the other drives install easily without tools.
Up to 7 expansion cards can be installed as well – again without tools. Most standard ATX boards will install effortlessly thanks to the standoffs built into the motherboard tray. The entire case is cooled by a pair of silent, blue LED 120mm fans which draw air through the metal grille front bezel and out through the rear of the case.
A ducted mount is included for a fan to cool the VGA cards through the clear X-shaped side window and provisions are made for additional 80mm, 90mm and 120mm fans. A pair of easily accessible USB 2.0 ports are located at the top of the front plate along with HD audio input and output jacks.

Cool Case
- Pros: Works fine if you Read The Fine Manual. Even if you do not read, the reported HDD difficulties are a joke. The HDD cage goes out the front, just as easily as to the rear; in case you did not follow the instructions - It is still easy! I removed the cpu duct and attached a 120mm TT fan - it blows right on the heatsink/fan (also TT). Easy to assemble. Nothing broke, but then I did not play B-ball with it either. I was done in less than an hour and am using it now.
- Cons: The stand-off screw in pylons were tiny. I reused some Dell ones instead because those fit my nut driver.
- Other Thoughts: Other reviewers that had problems may have been 'tards or idjits.
- Pros: Plenty of room for a mid tower case. Fit my GTX260 without problems. Looks very nice and has plenty of cooling. Keeps everything cool. No problems with the quick clips.
- Cons: Not really a con, but to add another GTX260, I will need to relocate the hard drive bay. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind.
- Other Thoughts: This thing is keeping an overclocked system cool. E8500, GTX260.
