The Thermaltake SD100 Mini case is a great choice for instances where you don’t have a lot of space for a system. It would work well as an HTPC chassis or a video wall controller cabinet.

There is an external slim optical drive bay and an internal 3.5" drive bay inside the case. The dual 60 x 60mm silent fan as well as the ventilation opening on top and side vents hot air to keep heat from building up and slowing down your system. The front panel also has two audio jacks and two USB ports for a convenient I/O access. The 120W power supply delivers ample power for all your components needs. Once everything is installed put the lid back on and you’re good to go.

4 out of 5 eggsHTPC case fits Zotac mini-ITX MB

Pros: This case works well as a home theater PC with Zotac ITX MB, Core2 Duo CPU, Silverstone Nitrogen CPU cooler, & Sony Slim DVD writer. Well constructed, good ventillation, and looks nice.

Cons: PS fan is noisy, could be replaced with a fanless PicoPSU-150-XT. Case does not support mounting a PCIe card (Zotac GF9300-G-E has a PCIe slot which can be used with a flex extender) since it does not have an opening for a PCIe card mounting bracket, there would be barely enough room for a card positioned horizontally except that the case cross member gets in the way, and a card positioned horizontally would be right above the PS which puts out significant heat.

Other Thoughts: Got this case to go with a Zotac GF9300-G-E which has 24-pin and ATX12V 4-pin MB connectors. It was not clear from manufacturer info or any other docs that the included PS has these connectors, but it does. Also has one sata, one Molex, and one floppy power connector. Windows 7 Media Center + HDPVR + Zotac ITX w/ Thermaltake SD100 make a nice HTPC.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Media Center Case

Pros: Case looks great and fits in with the entertainment center nicely. Zotac ITX board fits perfectly with no issue.

Cons: The power light is a bit bright? Not really a con but some may thing so.

Other Thoughts: A good thing to note is that this uses a SLIM dvd drive. I missed that memo and ordered a full size bluray, which is 1/4 the size of the whole case and most defiantly will not fit. The slim cable was included in the case, so you don't have to buy that extra, just need the right drive. (Also its hard to find a decently priced/spec'd slim bluray drive)

5 out of 5 eggsUses a Standard FlexATX Power Supply

Pros: Small. Looks good.

Cons: No place to mount IR sensor

Other Thoughts: I do love this case. I've had to rip it apart many times now to get everything figured out. My last review mentioned that I may need to modify the case to get a new power supply to fit. This is not the case. The supply I had found was not a true FlexATX supply. The actual specification clearly states that the length should be roughly 5.9 inches.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks great, easy set up, weak power supply

Pros: Nice and small. Looks great. Easy to set up using minimal tools.

Cons: Power supply is too weak. I need to install something more powerful to handle a quad core mini itx motherboard. Problem is that the more powerful power supplies are longer. I'll get my new PS tomorrow.. I think I'll have to modify the chassis a little to get it to fit - the hard disk is going to be slightly in the way. Will require 4 holes drilled, but I don't think it will be a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you buy the low profile ThermalTake CPU cooler so it will fit in the case!

2 out of 5 eggsNice layout. Too loud.

Pros: Nice size. Nice layout. All the needed cords etc. No issues putting together my system with a Zotac ION board. (D-E). 3.5" drive. The fan fits on top of the heat sink without issue.

Cons: The fan on the PSU is way too loud. I can hear the box running for 20 feet away and as such it is not usable. I could see putting this inside of some type of A/V cabinate that opens and vents to the rear but my setup is on top of a flat surface next to my TV. Totally exposed and no ability to dampen the noise. I will be returning this to NE.

Other Thoughts: The system doesn't seem to always wake from sleep when pushing the power button. Not sure of that is a case / power button issue or a Zotac board issue. This issues occurs at random so I don't think it is a connection issue between the case and board.
