5 out of 5 eggsReceived my replacement part with no issues!

Pros: This is an update to my previous review ''Good, but with fatal design flaw''.
I had a front panel which arrived with some of the adjusting fins broken. The whole case seemed to have been handled rather roughly (got it though a different vendor that Newegg).

I have to say, the customer support at Thermaltake is phenomenal. They were always very attentive and ready to help, in fact I'm writing this review update 2 months after the initial one just because it took me a while to sort things out with the friend that was helping me get the replacement door, but the Thermaltake guys literally always answered the very next day to my email inquiries. They asked for some photos of the damage (which I think is a nice QC measure) and then processed my order quickly and efficiently, even though I was making the purchase and international shipping procedures not by my own, but with the assistance of a third person. I didn't have to pay much for the replacement either, so that's also a plus.

The new front panel arrived yesterday home (I live outside the US), this time in perfect condition!

While I still think the design of the panel in this particular case is not the very best among the Thermaltake cases, I have to say, their customer support is unmatched and I was able to resolve the issue promptly. Kudos to them for that.

ps_ As a side note, an advice for people getting this case:
If you're going to remove the front panel, do so by gently pulling it FROM THE BOTTOM, NOT from the sides or the top, that is the best way not to weaken or break the attaching plastic fins of the panel.

Cons: none this time, my issue was resolved

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great stock airflow, nearly everything is removable to accommodate massive rads, pretty sturdy.

Cons: The packaging could be more durable. Thicker box & closed cell foam would be preferable to what they use. Mine arrived damaged. Already received the replacement, but it takes some of the fun out of it.

Other Thoughts: Default cable management options are limited, but as there's plenty of room to work with, you can easily add tie-downs. The bottom air filter requires some fairly significant clearance to remove. Having the rear of the case butted up against a wall would necessitate moving it in order to get the filter out for cleaning.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsAwesome and luxurious case

Pros: So much room and so quiet with the fan controller and a really nice access way to the computer itself (key-way access) and HUGE and the wires have alot of room in the back for wire storage and fan circulation is great!

Cons: Heavy and not really good for water cooling to be honest, my radiator fell on my PC due to poor construction on top of the vent area where radiator suppose to be set, LUCKILY nothing spilled. Only 2 optical drive slots ;(

Other Thoughts: They need to fix the watercooling situation...and add more optical drive slots although nothing for now...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
The Urban T81 was designed to support water cooling. Please contact Customer Service so we can determine if there was a defect with your case as the radiator should not be falling under normal circumstances.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty great... but those filters

Pros: Looks awesome
Side doors are sturdy and made of the right stuff
Fan controller is handy
Lights are crazy/too bright like on some cases
Well laid out and very customizable

Cons: My biggest problem with the case is the dust filters. Other reviews have mentioned the top and bottom filters, but I think it's important to note the front filters (behind the door) are slatted filters. Think of picket fence, but horizontal. This limits the potential airflow and increases temps unnecessarily. I removed them and dropped 5-6 C.

Other Thoughts: Asus Maximus VII Hero
Intel i7-4770k @ 4.0
Corsair H80i
Buncha other stuff, but the above is relevant

5 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: -This case is nice looking. It allows you to show off your hardware without having to always have fan embedded leds on.

-The fans, when controlled by my motherboard, are almost silent. I'm coming from an Antec 1200 with tons of 120mm fans and an open front. It's refreshing to not your computer humming away while you're only on the internet.

-The overall design of the case is nice. The rubber grommets help keep your wires a little neater. The swinging case door is removable making it easier to install all of your stuff. There are air filters on all of the openings of the case.

-The ability to remove the entire hdd cage assembly (for better airflow) is really nice since I really don't need much storage.

-The black theme is maintained well throughout the case. Even the fasteners are black. Many cases have silver hardware which doesn't look good (in my opinion).

-There is plenty of airflow with the stock fan setup to handle most enthusiast systems. You'll probably only want to add more if you're doing SLI/Crossfire or your graphics card(s) doesn't exhaust all of it's air out the back of the case.

Cons: I'm going to nit pick. I'm really really happy with this case overall.

- The tool-less design poorly held my DVD drive forcing me to screw it in (which I would have done anyway)

- The standoff tightener stripped on the first nut I tried to tighten

- The position of some of the fans didn't make much sense. I had to unscrew a few and rotate them 90 to 180 degrees to get the wire to come out where I wanted it to.

- The top has a non-removable air filter. Why would I want to filter the air going out the top of my case...? I just left the top off since it's covered by my desk so it wasn't a problem

- The bottom air filter seems to fit loosely and I question how well it will really filter because of this

- NO CABLE TIE DOWNS IN BACK! Come on guys. You did such a good job on space in between the motherboard tray and the back door yet you didn't put any hooks/holes for me to use twist ties for cable management!

Other Thoughts: I absolutely love this case. My cons are really just things you run into when you're putting your rig together for the first time. Just a couple things I thought I'd throw out there in case the manufacturer decides they want to make a second revision with slight changes.

I added a RGB led strip that I got elsewhere and it makes everything look stunning!

2 out of 5 eggsGood, but with fatal design flaw

Pros: - Nice, comfortable access with the 'suicide doors'
- The case is even more modular/customizable than I thought (you can take out bay by bay with a screwdriver)
- Case is somewhat light and yet sturdy, for it's size.

Cons: The black paint on the case chips off easily apparently (but I can live with that).

The awful design flaw in this case is the front door. Or more specifically, the detachable front panel of the case (the one you remove to leave the 20mm fans exposed), which includes the front door with it's dust filters.

Why?

Because that part (just like the top panel) both of which cover the large 20mm fans, get attached to the rest of the case NOT through sturdy, metal hinges (like with my old Thermaltake Soprano chassis), but with very weak plastic pressure locks molded/injected into the rest of the plastic structure.
On the top panel this is not such a problem, BUT, on the front panel, these flimsy plastic hinges are the sole thing supporting the entire weight of the front panel (which is mostly plastic, but still not THAT light) to the rest of the chassis.
In my older case the front panel has metal hinges on the front door and on the front of the case, so removing it is a breeze. But on this one you only have these plastic feet injected into the panel, which secure to the case by forcing their heads to lock inside metal holes on the case. So obviously, not a good idea to force plastic feet into a metal hole, they're certainly poised to break.
To be fair though, it seems the package was handled rather roughly when delivered to me (I bought this T81 through a vendor, should have used Newegg as usual!!), so poor delivery of the item may have had to do with it.

Other Thoughts: If anyone at Thermaltake can tell me HOW to purchase a replacement front panel for this Urban T81 case, I would be immensely appreciative -and include that in my review of course-; this case has a really good airflow design, just wished they would have used a better locking mechanism for the removable panels on the front and the top.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

3 out of 5 eggsT81

Pros: Great size
Easy to to install hardware
Fully Modular

Cons: Doors rattle
Fan controller went up in flames!

Other Thoughts: This case is nice, but the PCB that has the fan controller and the power button, I kid not caught fire, and melted part of the case.

4 out of 5 eggsRoom to spare

Pros: I received this case yesterday and WOW. There is room all over the place. The case seems sturdy and there are no defects that I've seen. So far I've only installed my hard drives and optical drives, but I can't wait to get the rest of my parts to start installing. There are several backplate holes and ports for cable management.

Cons: I knock 1 Egg off as I ordered this on Wed, and on Sat. Morning there is a $20.00 rebate and free shipping. I read about the IronEgg Price guarantee, but I wish the system would email you and say Hey, price alert on your recent order.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks Great

Pros: Looks great, keys work well, construction appears solid.

Cons: PSU screws don't line up with fan facing down.

Other Thoughts: I've tried two PSUs so far and neither will align with the rear screwholes if the fan is down. These are Corsair and Raidmax PSUs so I trust the holes to be correct. Three do align, but the top right hole is below the case hole and just a bit higher than the metal overhang. I could cut off the metal from the case but I'd rather not. For now i'll face the fan up and see what the thermals are like. Will update.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Many Possibilities!

Pros: Very customizable, you can change out fans to the size that fits your needs plenty of room for everything and then some. alot of room for rad's for watercooling

Cons: i dont care for the 5.25 slots i put in my blue ray player the lock feature of the case seems a bit skittish locks only one side when i press the button the right side moves not a big con but a lil pet peav nothing big. The price bit steep but definitely worth it.

Other Thoughts: i haven't setup my water cooling yet. guna be the first time im doing water cooling. For other people like me who are trying to find a case and wondering about sizes and stuff this one is the way to go top case can fit 1 4 faned rad as well as the front and bottom can fit a 3 faned. crazy how much space is in it. i myself am going to put a 4 faned rad and a 3 at bottom to cool my cpu and vid card.or mabe just 2 4 faned rads one on top and front. and just put a custom res at bottom instead of fans for exaust who know so many possibilities :D
