4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product...money well-spent

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: - I love the air flow of the case itself overall
- the design looks very powerful especially the front dust filter panel, it seems to be "strong" to me
- the price isn't that high compared to some other cases like NZXT

Cons: - This might be a little bit of nitpicking, but I really wish Corsair would consider releasing the RGB fans and that would look really awesome just like their other peripherals!
- I find the front panel a little bit difficult to remove and it requires much more strength that I expected.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Carbide Series SPEC-03

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: Easy to work with. Cable management will depend on your PSU cable lengths. Love the option to put 140mm fans in the front.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I started out with the little brother (Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01) I liked it. But I need a couple more inches to work with and the series 03 model provided the extra room that I wanted.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: Pretty good air flow, nice gamer aesthetic. I was able to fit a Cryorig H7 cooler in there no problem (space wise, that is. See below for actual installation problems).

Cons: - My biggest complaint about this case is that the interior space is pretty cramped (as someone else already mentioned). The biggest problem was that I couldn't find anywhere to route the 8 pin EPS cable through the top of the motherboard tray to plug it in to the mobo, which forced me to bring it in through the nearest routing hole on the RAM side and snake it past the CPU cooler. It barely reached and was a real pain to get in there.
- The cutout behind the motherboard tray is shaped such that I had to take the motherboard out of the case to get the backplate for my aftermarket cooler on, which was also a pain.
- Cable management was kind of tight.
- Lastly, while the front having pretty wide open mesh is good for airflow, it's murder when it comes to keeping the inside of the case clean.

Other Thoughts: Although the interior space is somewhat limited, I was able to find workarounds to get everything set up properly (depending on your definition of "properly"). I took a screwdriver and removed the drive cage to open up the airflow a little more and mounted an SSD on the floor of the case using the holes that were left when the cage was removed and I also used a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter in the lower optical drive bay for my mechanical hard drive to keep it out of the way as well. Also wanted to mention that someone said that they thought this was a quiet case. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but I don't think this case is quiet at all. The only time I don't notice the noise is when the air conditioner in the utility room behind me kicks on and drowns it out, but to be fair this is not advertised to be a silent case. Anyway, just had to get my two cents in regarding that to balance out the other review.
Overall it's a serviceable case with no sharp edges and decent enough build materials with a few pain points and compromises, which is to be expected at this price point I suppose but in the end I feel like I probably paid about $10 too much for what it is.

5 out of 5 eggsNot to small not to big. Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: -Decent cable management (Mine is tight but cables are tucked away nicely)
-Enough room to fit long graphics cards
-Good size for my needs
-Grill on front can act as a dust filter; more below
-Comes with 3 fans, 2 up front and 1 rear. Mine did at the time of purchase.

Cons: -Would have liked more USB ports up front but not that big of a deal. Given how prevalent USB ports have become. (Got an alarm clock with a USB port which solved my USB shortage problem)
-The grill up front can serve as a dust catcher if not cleaned can inhibit airflow since there is no other air intake besides through the grill.
-It has a long thin L.E.D. light above where the CD drives go that flashes on and off when in sleep mode which can be annoying, I put a strip of electric tape over it.
-Doesn't have mounting points for shorter versions of "Full-size" ATX boards, why motherboard manufacturers did this I don't know.

Other Thoughts: Had this case for close to a year and like the way it looks. It is at the size I was looking for and price point.

As for cleaning the grill I'd highly recommend using a vacuum cleaner with an attachment that can fit into the grooves of the plastic where the grill is.(If you have the narrow attachment on your vacuum that will suffice) I used an old toothbrush at first and noticed after a time some dust got pushed through and spread inside the case all over the place even on the PCB of my graphics card.

Depending on your fan speeds will determine how often you need to clean the grill,(My system is set to quiet mode) I usually do it once every other week. My finger can get the dust out of the grill pretty good but the corners and edges will need a vacuum cleaner.

At first, I didn't like having to clean the grill but saw the benefits, the inside of my computer requires less cleaning from dust. So it's not that bad. Don't get me wrong dust still gets in the case but not as much.

Overall I love the case, has room for decent amount of storage devices. Now that you can put an SSD on some motherboards it's great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value, DOES fit big heatsinks like 212

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: Cool design, many fan mounting options, decent cable management. HYPER 212 EVO DOES FIT!! Great location for watercooling above CPU and as an added bonus, if you're running aircool the heat naturally vents right out the top of the case versus collecting there as it does with most others.

Cons: Little cramped up by the CPU makes it somewhat of a pain to install big heatsinks and the like, but is very doable. The captive door screws pretty much suck and are just begging to be stripped out if you get careless...this is probably the biggest negative. Also, not kind to an SLI/Crossfire senario if that matters to you...exceeds as a single card box but can't image two big cards in here.

Other Thoughts: Got this at a near too-good-to-be-true price on black Friday (2014) and figured I was rolling the dice. Shouldn't have doubted Corsair. The build quality (IMO) exceeds that of the Antec 900 I ran for years. The cable management is certainly better. Build went together seamlessly and the case looks good. I especially like the white fans (which appear blue in the main picture on New Egg but are def white). The area around the CPU is a bit cramped however, which may have more to do with my mobo than the case itself..

UPDATE 3/12/16: I didn't think a Hyper 212 EVO would fit but I was gifted one today and guess what, it does!!! After over a year of running a subpar heatsink I'm glad to finally have something worthy up in there!

All in all the SPEC-03 is an excellent value for someone who wants a smaller case that can fit a full size GPU (I'm running an HIS 280X w twin fans) with full-sized cooling solutions. I'm running the hyper as stated but this thing is obviously set up for watercooling if you want that too. I'm just as happy with it a year later as I was the day I got it, and will probably run this rig for years to come.

FYI: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 w FX-6300.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Budget Case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: - Great looking design
- PLENTY of room in the back for cable management
- 3 pre-installed fans (2 intake, 1 exhaust)
- Enough room for almost any aftermarket cpu cooler (currently have hypermaster 212 evo and fits with room to spare)
- Window looks great

Cons: Corsair says it does not officially support any radiator placement. Unofficially, the case can house a radiator with fans on both the top of the case above the motherboard and in the front of the case. Mounting it on the top requires low profile RAM because of how close the motherboard is is seated to the top, and mounting it in the front requires removal of the drive bay which consists of removing a few screws. If you plan on using an AIO or doing custom loop keep that in mind.

Also, not really a con but, the fans in the white LED option look blue in the pictures. The fans are very white in person.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great computer case. I ended up replacing the white LED front fans for blue ones and installed LED strips in the case as well, which was a very simple process. I love the aggressive look and with the right lighting this case looks really amazing inside and out. This was my first build and I am very happy with my decision of choosing this case.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's an ok case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: It looks ok, I bought it over the summer when all I cared about was a case that looked like a gaming case. Cable management is alright (not the best).

Cons: The case is somewhat loud. When playing a game, I can almost hear it through my headphones (under heavy load of course). The cable management was a pain. Screwing in the motherboard was kinda hard and frustrating. The windowed side panel is kinda easy to scratch. The manual didn't tell you what kind of screws to use for it. I will probably end up selling this case to get a Fractal Design case in the near future.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I would tell them to pay a little extra for something more quality.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case for the price point.

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans ATX Power Supply (not included)

Pros: Fairly roomy inside. Has plenty of room for fans which allow for very good air flow. I like the bulged sides that give some addition room for cable management and CPU coolers. Fits my 'large' Cryorig H7 CPU cooler.

Cons: Not really a con but it had a factory installed dust filter on the top exhaust port for fans, I don't really see anyone using the tops for an intake so this seems like a moot point.

Other Thoughts: Not really a pro or a con but it comes with pre installed motherboard standoffs, with that said make sure they are all tight before you install your motherboard. I wasn't able to find anywhere online stating if this case would allow me to have the 2 top fans installed on an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX and an aftermarket cooler, it does...but its a pretty tight fit. Make sure you have everything plugged in before putting fans in otherwise you'll be pulling your fans when you want to plug them in like I did!
