1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Cheap, nice case.

Cons: Worthless power supply.

Other Thoughts: Well, after 3 months of ok usage, this weak power supply just fried my processor and hard drive. I read the reviews. I didn't heed their warnings. I paid the price. There goes $400 down the drain.

5 out of 5 eggsNot good

Pros: Small, takes up less space (in the dumpster)

Cons: Power supply dead on arrival

Other Thoughts: Buying 2 of these cases was a big mistake, a $133.00 dollar mistake. Thanks for nothing Newegg When people spend money, they expect to actually purchase goods with it, not Bads

2 out of 5 eggsPower Supply junk

Pros: N/A

Cons: Off/On switch on PSU broke with in One hour of use. Wouldn't be surprised if they included it to boost sales of the product. Always use caution when buying PSU that is included with the case.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: This is an update on my(Blyss Sarania) previous review below. Despite opening from the wrong side and the mobo going in rotated 180 it is quite possible to do some cable management. What I did was took some twist ties(like for trash bags) and burned off the plastic/paper so I was left with the thin flexible wire inside. I then used that to bind the wires out of the way to various parts of the chassis. I also stuffed some under the mobo itself, and some in an unused drive bay. If I could post a picture I would but it turned out nice.

Cons: That PSU... it works but there is no way it can handle 500 watts. I was overclocking my FX6300 and I had bumped the voltage up to 1.45 and I was getting errors in prime95 even though I had only overclocked to 4.1GHZ which is actually not an overclock at all. That processor is 3.5ghz normal 4.1ghz turbo. Temp was fine, ruled everything out. Then I noticed in cpu Z that the core voltage dropped DRAMATICALLY when P95 was running. At idle it showed the proper 1.45 volts but with all 6 cores on the processor maxed the vcore was hovering around 1.3 which is apparently not enough to keep the FX 6300 stable at it's turbo frequency.

The FX6300 at it's turbo 4.1GHZ draws 162 watts which is quite a bit. But there is nothing else in my system drawing much power. I have one laptop HDD in there. One Geforce GT 610 which draws 29watts under max load. That's it. No other drives, no optical. No expansion cards. So the max my setup could draw right now with everything at full load would be right at 200 Watts.

Also I notice under a heavy load that besides the VCORE dropping which will cause serious instability. The +12v drops to 11.8 so I shudder to think what adding a nice GPU to the 12v line will do.

The fact that it performs like this with only a 200 watt load tells me that pushing it much further and it will be insufficient. I highly doubt you could pull 300 watts and certainly not 500.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line: The PSU is adequate for "family computer" type builds. For a gaming rig I'm almost certain it will be insufficient. Next month when I get a nice graphics card I will try it but I am expecting it to not be powerful enough. Fortunately I have a backup on hand!

4 out of 5 eggsGood but BACKWARDS

Pros: Price.
Looks nice and non descript but still not a beige box.
Included fan is nice and quiet and big.
PSU working so far(but can't afford good graphics til next month so I imagine my draw is limited... 95 Watt TDP 6 core vishera 6300, 1 hard drive. 1 Geforce GT610 I had left over as a spare until I can afford something a LOT better. That's it. Probably pulling no more than 200Watts on a full load.)

The screwless mounting that others complained about worked great for me. I like it.

Cons: It's BACKWARDS. Other reviewers have mentioned this but:

#1 the motherboard installs upside down. That's not that big a deal in the end for me but worth note.

#2 The case opens from the right side... the wrong side. The not left side. This is WHY the mobo goes in upside down(actually it would be more correct to say rotated 180 degrees. Upside down would be with the connectors and stuff facing the inaccessible side). If it didn't go in rotated, your expansion slots and external ports would face the drive bays.

-1 egg for being different for no good reason.

Other Thoughts: Yeah, that PSU. We will see about that when I drop in some power hungry graphics. I have a backup on hand lol. Will report back.

2 out of 5 eggsAcceptable but frustrating

Pros: Cheap with built in PSU, easy front cover removal, easy to use DVD latches.

Cons: Pre-installed standoffs, no front fan (only one side fan in the whole unit), poor documentation.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong...

Pros: Appearance, space, tooless assembly, airflow, Original PSU still alive and well.

Cons: Cable management

Other Thoughts: I originally posted on this case on December 9, 2010.

The unit has performed flawlessly since put to work over 2 years ago.
Power supply furnished in case is still kicking, never skipped a beat or a single glitch.

This PC has run at least 10 to18 hours per day for over 2 years. I routinely play PC games such as ALL of the Call of Duty series, "Spacemarine" (a personal favorite), MS FlightSim, "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946".

The CPU (Intel core I5 quad) and Radeon 5670 HD stay cool under load. This is precisely why with the upgrade/rebuild about to commence, I opted to continue using this case vs getting a new one.
Although not a "Super Enthusiast" capable PC, it has been worked hard both in game play (on and offline games), productivity (Office-Work related), and just plain old "Surfing" ;-)

I am rebuilding with Radeon 7870 LE Tahiti "Myst" graphics card, a new 630W single rail 12v, 80 PLUS Certified PSU, 12 GB DDR3, Win 7 Home Prem 64bit WD "Black" 64 mg cache, 7200 RPM, replacing/adding fans for greater Negative pressure.

I will be using the Apevia PSU in another build of a "Give-Away" PC, largely using components replaced in new build for one to give away for a more than capable home PC.

I still give this case high marks, even moreso given it has run a great many hours per day since built and has shown no signs of wear, age or efficiency.

Definitely recommend for the budget minded builder, adding an additional fan or two improves it's cooling capabilities.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Case for the Money

Pros: Good price
Easy screwless installation for drives

Cons: PSU does not have 8 pin connector for new mobos which was not documented in the item description. This required purchase of a molex + 4 pin to 8 pin adapter to power the mobo.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Great price for a case with PSU included. We'll just have to see how long the PSU lasts - can't expect too much from it. All 500watt PSUs are NOT made equal, but I'm aware of that going into this. Figured I'd take a chance and maybe save some $$$.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfactory, but could be better

Pros: Does it's job well enough; contains a computer! The included 500W PSU is a nice bonus.

Cons: The plastic tool-less drive attachments are very brittle. Four of them are shipped in a small box insert. The packaging was fine, they were bound tightly with a rubberband. However, they all arrived completely destroyed. The lower drive cage is essentially useless without them.

Some of the aluminum pieces of the case do not fit together well (particularly the upper drive cages) so removing and reinstalling them can be difficult. Beware of stripped screws.

Other Thoughts: Regardless of its shortcomings, this is a great case. It looks quite nice (black, basic, minimal design, blue LEDs) and the included case fan is fairly quiet.

As long as you don't need the lower drive cage, this case is a good buy!

Manufacturer Response:

You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789 for support regarding the broken drive rails. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cost, Ease of use.

Cons: Standoff screws, PSU fan exhaust direction, cable management

Other Thoughts: I argue that the thing would be better if the front panel was flipped upside down, and if there was some kind of rudimentary cable management system. But for the price, it's tough to beat.
