4 out of 5 eggsCool looking case with slight design flaw

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This is a cool looking mid tower with useful accessibility to USB 3.0 on the front.

1. White steel case is nice and clean
2. USB 3.0 port on the front is very useful
3. I think the sponge inside the case works as a noise absorbent. A nice touch

Cons: The biggest downside of this case would be the front "door" design. Because one of the case fans is located on the front right behind the door, it makes noticeably louder noise when the front door is closed under heavy usage. There are vents on the side of the door, but they are not big enough to suck in more air. One egg down for this.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the design, it is not too heavy, clean looking, matching my desk.

2 out of 5 eggsOther NZXT Models are better built

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Nice looking case
the hard drive easy- access design
decent price for a silent case

Cons: The FRONT FAN can't be mounted from either front of back of the fan, not even with the NZXT 120mm fan and the specially made long screws for it that came with the case, simply killed this case.

bottom fan filter, should have used magnetized design.

Other Thoughts: I have the S340, H440 and S210 for my work offices and home.
Get the S340 as a well rounded case or H440 if you want a true silent case.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We appreciate the feedback on our case but the case itself comes with a 120 mm fan which is already preinstalled. It can only fit a 120 mm fan on the front and the back of the case, which should mount perfectly to the case. If you are having issues trying to fit a fan on your case please visit support.nzxt.com and submit a request at the top right. Which we would be able to assist you with any issues with the case. Also you can contact us directly at +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

5 out of 5 eggsLives up to it's name

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This thing definitely knows how to keep quiet. I have quite conservative cooling for my build and stream regularly. The air intake is nice enough for most of parts to not sweat to much. When I am pushing the envelope, I can hear quite a bite of noise, but not the kind of noise you would get from a mesh cooled case. In worst cast scenarios, it is definitely quiet which is especially important to me living in a apartment. Speaking of apartment, I have my tower sitting on my desk. I receive ZERO vibration from the case. In terms of actual spacing within the case and cable management. It does the job well, with many holes for cable management you cant complain. The management setup is very clean and easy to setup. As for the installation of parts along side the manual, it is very clear cut and does not leave room for much question as everything is thoroughly detailed in the manual. I am very happy with my purchase and have recommended a NZXT case to everyone I know. My tiny tiny gripe is that it came slightly damaged in the power supply area, the back opening for the area was slightly dented inward from some kind of impact and there was a scratch on the side. Not bad enough for me to complain, likely an error with the delivery service. All in all, solid product. It's gorgeous couldn't be happier.

Cons: Slight dent by power supply area, minor scratch on left side upon arrival.

2 out of 5 eggsNot suited for high performance builds

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: + Beautiful appearance
+ Great build quality (except for the hard disc trays)
+ Spacious interior
+ Excellent documentation
+Comes with everything you need to build your system.

Cons: - Tool-free hard disc trays are extremely flimsy, which was surprising considering how good the quality of materials is everywhere else--I guess they had to cut corners somewhere.
- Door can get in the way of your optical disk drive if you're not paying attention.
- VERY poor airflow and cooling! At one point my PC's temperature testing software logged temps above 60 degrees Celsius (very hot.)
- ONLY ONE EXHAUST FAN, NO ROOM FOR ANOTHER ONE. This is fine if you've got a light system, but this isn't good news for gaming PC builds, unless if you're the kind of person that likes cutting holes in your case.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this case, because there's so much to love as far as appearance and build quality. It was enough to overlook the minor inconveniences of the disc trays and the case door. However, due to the major cooling issues, I can't recommend this case unless if you are building a less performance-heavy PC without a dedicated video card.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Valued NZXT Customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience, at this time we are glad to hear that the case is working out for you. Yes it does only have one rear exhaust fan which would concentrate all heat to be dispersed the back side through one fan. This case is meant to be an entry level case silent and sufficient for the average user. If you come across at all having issues with parts or side panels please let us know. By simply going to our website at www.nzxt.com/support and filling out a ticket we will be able to help you with any future part replacements. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact our NZXT Customer Service.

Regards,

NZXT Support

4 out of 5 eggsSleek Elegant Ez machine

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: All the tools are there to put it together. Silent once you switch the standard fans and you can add more for more noise... :-) The tool less drives are amazing and the slots for cabling is well designed allowing for you to even have clutter free cabling. The power supply is at the bottom with vents facing down.. a must.

Cons: They only thing I nitpick is the fron door. It closes and I imagine you have to leave the door open for air flow. I would've appreciated some additional 4 screws for the second fan I added.

Other Thoughts: I got it for $49. That was a steal.

4 out of 5 eggsHere is some more info about this case:

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: This case was purchased to liven and quiet a watercooled PhenomII x4 overclocked to 3.9GHz. I am comparing this case to the generic Antec mini tower that the system was installed in prior.

The front fan pulls air and the rear expels. The front door when closed, nearly silences the front fan. The door can be opened for additional cooling.

The side foam and overall design quiets high frequency noise. The case noticeably reduced hard drive noise.

The front plastic is painted and clear coated to match the rest of the case. I was concerned the front plastic would not match, but this is an attractive case. The angled black has grown on me and makes the case visually interesting.

The plastic drive trays (6) allow tooless installation of hard drives. They are a bit flimsy, but they serve their purpose.

The power and reset buttons are lit with a medium intensity white LED. The reset button doubles as the HDD indicator.

Cons: The rear bottom of the case under the power supply was dented/buckled as if pressed too tight during manufacturing. There were no problems with assembly, I can live with this, but a system builder probably would not find this acceptable. This is why the case gets four stars. Otherwise, for a sixty dollar case it is a good value.

Other Thoughts: This is a fairly large/deep mid tower. I have not built a system with a mid sized tower case in over ten years. Instead of trying to hide your computer by making it small and "look cool", this case gives enough size for building/cooling without compromise and gives good aesthetics to it's large size. You will be proud to own a computer built with this case.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent case for budget builds, but wobbly feet

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Visually appealing
Comes with two 120 mm (quiet) fans
Re-moveable HDD cage

Cons: Case feet are not even
Below average airflow
Flimsy tool-less HDD mounts

Other Thoughts: One thing to note is that the airflow in this case is not spectacular. The front panel blocks a lot of the air for the front intake fan. You will get a noticeable drop in temperature if you leave the front panel open vs leaving it closed. Furthermore, there is no vent at the top of the case. If you have high end components that run hot, you might want to look elsewhere. Lastly, the rubber feet on this case is uneven, so my case sits wobbly.

4 out of 5 eggsSo good, I bought a second one.

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: -Size/Space: Plenty of room for ATX motherboards and Dual Graphics (2x 660 TIs in my case).

-Looks great: Beautiful gloss white color on interior and exterior (Don't care much for the black on the door because I'd prefer all white, but it's not a big deal at all). Frankly, these look like refrigerators.

-Quiet. It certainly does reduce fan, CD/DVD/BR, HDD noise. It's not much, but definitely noticeably quieter.

-No windows or annoying lights, just like a refrigerator. The lights that are on the Power and Reset light are very pleasingly dim and not disturbing yet noticeable when necessary.

-Strong High quality construction: This case is heavy (18 pounds according to shipping) metal and built well. No sharp edges that make you bleed. The door on it also doesn't feel flimsy and it uses magnets instead of a clipping mechanism which would just break over time.

-Sideways hard drive trays: Though this is more common now in many cases, it's still a plus in this one.

-Bonus Hardware: Comes with a myriad of high quality screws that for many configurations.

-The retention system for the 5 1/4 inch bays are actually pretty good. No screws necessary and they hold on to the drive very tight.

Cons: -Does not fit Hyper 212 cooler. It's just slightly too tall and it puts pressure on the case door that I'm not a fan of. Others may think it's okay, but it's not for me. Switching to an all in one H80i liquid cooler. It hasn't come yet, but I see no reason why the H80i shouldn't fit.

-Cable management: Trying to fit all power cables, sata cables, and other IO cables behind the back wall of the case gets very cramped very quickly. When using dual graphics and many hard drives it's almost impossible to put the back cover on. This also can rip at the foam a bit. Also note, depending on the motherboard, the 3 pin fans that come stock on this case might not have enough reach with the way they are mounted and it will require rerouting them which could prove to be difficult especially if you're not familiar with cable routing.

-Missing screws: The first case I got had all of its wonderful screws. The second was missing several standoff screws. Thankfully I keep spares handy so this wasn't an immediate issue for me but it bothers and disappoints me that NZXT would let this slip through.

-Damage: Again, the first case I got was flawless. The second had been bent along the bottom where the power supply sits; it was was bent so much that the power supply could not properly be set. Since I needed this case immediately and couldn't wait to RMA it, I went ahead and pushed very hard on the case and power supply until I could get the screws and screw holes lined up on the power supply. It works, but the back/bottom of the case are visibly malformed. VERY disappointed by this and if I hadn't needed the case immediately, I would have returned this without question. NOTE: This did NOT appear to be due to shipping. The cardboard box and Styrofoam it came in are flawless.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is my favorite case that I've ever gotten. NZXT also makes other really nice cases.

I'm still sad that my one case was not up to par with the first one I got and I wish there was a way to resolve the issue hassle free.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: Tool-less drive installation that actually works. Each tray is also properly sized to attach a 2.5" drive. Enough space behind the motherboard tray to run cables. Power supply sits atop a vent, which helps with PSU temperature. Not silent, but very quiet.

Cons: The plastic drive trays feel a little flimsy, but that's probably just because they are very flexible. They can be a pain to insert into the case when they're empty, which really isn't a problem.

Adding additional fans requires special hardware. NZXT doesn't seem to provide a sufficient number of the strange, machine-screw looking things needed to attach two additional fans. I didn't contact support -- they might've sent more if I asked.

Other Thoughts: The front USB header is USB 3.0, and it cannot attach to older USB 2.0 headers on older motherboards.

3 out of 5 eggsEasy to setup and silent, until...

This review is from: NZXT H230 White ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Includes 1 x 120mm Front, 1 x 120mm Rear 2 x USB 3.0

Pros: The case is really neat and easy to setup. Enough room to install the board. Cable management is easy too.
Enough room for HDD-SSD, and dvd drives.
No need for SSD adapter.

Cons: After 6 months, the case fan begin to make noise, kind of vibrating... Try to clean up but nothing change.

This noise is annoying !!!!
