3 out of 5 eggsSeems to be made for a specific motherboard

Pros: compact case
Well constructed
fairly quiet

Cons: Port panel is not configurable (port holes are cut into case itself)
Power supply has only the old 20-pin ATX connector without the 4-pin extender.

Other Thoughts: After noting the description said this case is only compatible with SuperMicro single processor Atom boards, I figured the SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCAA-L-O would work fine. Unfortunately the ports on the motherboard were not even close to the port holes cut into the case itself (no pop-out panel). Undeterred, I cut out the port access area with a dremmel. Once I was able to mount everything, I discovered that the power supply had only an older 20-pin ATX connector and no 4-pin extension header. The motherboard has a 4-pin 12v header you can use instead, but the power supply in this case did not have a connector for this either. It appears however that this motherboard works fine with the 20-pin ATX connector (leaving the additional 4 pins empty). The front control cable seems to work fine with the motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: * Works perfectly with the SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525-O (Item#: N82E16813182243).
* 1U - Small. The board came out of a Lian-Li mid tower case (love that case too but am putting it to other use).
* Quiet.

Cons: No "con" so far, see other thoughts on screws.

Other Thoughts: * If you're mounting 2.5" drives make sure to get the bracket (Item#: N82E16811994023, thanks Brian T.).
* Read the other reviews regarding fan noise, I cannot hear the fan in this PS unless I get my ear right on it. But sitting 2' from it, I cannot hear it at all.
* It came with no documentation but it is available online.
* A little clarity on standoff screws would be good. I mounted with the flat part of the nut down, seems to work either way, not worth taking off an egg.
* Wish there was a screw for the top front middle section, seems "rattly" without it.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Case

Pros: Awesome look; appears to be very high quality. Power supply is perfect for my needs.

Cons: No additional fans - although not really required with the Atom board being used

Other Thoughts: Have not mounted it in a rack yet, so I cannot comment on that at this time. Using this case with a Supermicro MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX (N82E16813182234), 2xCrucial 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM 667mhz (N82E16820148087), and a left over Western Digital Raptor 74gb from an old desktop build. Currently resides in my bedroom with the other equipment. Fan noise is audible, but not over powering. About equal with other equipment in my room. The hum helps put me to sleep. :)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The case is just as was advertized. Real good quality. Impossible to beat for the money. Purchased mine with the D525 board, running Astaro ASG, could not be happier.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Yes, is only supports Supermicro boards and Yes, the PSu may be somewhat loud for some folks, but this is suppose to be loaded on a rack, in a server room. For the guy complaining about the format or folks complaining of the PSU being noisy, understand what this is before you buy.

1 out of 5 eggsSC502L-200B

Pros: The case is clean looking, strong and well built. Everything an itx server needs to be.

Cons: The Case only supports custom motherboards from Supermicro. the I/O plate in the back is a permanent fixture and not standard to any other ITX motherboard, despite what it says on their website.

Other Thoughts: i wont be buying anything from Supermicro again based on this purchase. It states clearly it was supposed to made for the Intel Atom Motherboard/CPU combo, but what it does not say is that it will only fit Supermicro's Combo, which are 200 dollars a piece from yet another supplier to them.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: small quiet and rack mountable.

Cons: poor options for drive choice and layout. Would prefer to have the option of using a smaller 2.5 drive but not mounting holes for that.

Other Thoughts: Need a riser card to use the extra Mobo slot but the card would hit the HD due to poor HD layout position.

3 out of 5 eggsIt needs to be able to support rails.

Pros: -Size (if you need something really small).

Cons: -Cost
-No fans
-Cant use rails =(

Other Thoughts: I would have probably otherwise given this case a four but I found out you can't use rails (at all) with this case. I get that its super low depth so there are times you wouldn't want to use rails but would it have killed supermicro to just have the holes for the ability to use rails if you wanted?

I am using an Atom D510 machine and the 200w PSU doesn't bug me as it means better efficiency for ultra lower power systems. Unfortunately I am going to have to replace this case with a higher end (CSE-811T-260B) simply due to the fact I need to have this on rails.

The problem is that the weight of the machine will cause the ears to warp as the machine is just too heavy. They should have included a rail option..

The cost is a little high considering the case has no fans nor supports hot swap disks or a cd-rom drive. Most 1U cases will come with fans. I used an atom so I didn't need it but its still a minus.

I think it should be priced more at $50-60 considering what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat simple server

Pros: Works perfectly with the SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SLA-H-O motherboard/cpu combo. Easy to mount; 1U.

Cons: I thought that it would take a 2.5" HDD as well, but it turns out to be a separately purchased option (SUPERMICRO part# MCP-220-00044-0N). I won't take an egg off for my own ignorance, though. There are no fans to move air in the system so heat could be an issue.

Other Thoughts: Installed ClearOS and using it as my router/firewall for my house. Buying the case and motherboard was cheaper than purchasing them pre-assembled. ClearOS reports the cpu cores sitting at 36*C with an ambient temp of 28*C.
