The RAVEN RV02-E is an evolution of the original RV02 case that aims to provide even more accessible performance and utility. Making a debut for the first time in a tower chassis, SilverStone’s own “Air Penetrator” 180mm fans are included in the RV02-E for improved air intake efficiency and flexibility. The fan frame of the Air Penetrator fans provide enough fan blade protection and increased air focusing ability that they no longer require installation of fan grille. Hot-swappable hard drive cage was also implemented to facilitate installation at the expense of losing the 8th expansion slot. However, all other features are intact such as fully filtered intake system, 90 degree motherboard mounting, all black interior, liquid cooling support, and fan speed switches. For enthusiasts not looking to use more than two or three graphics cards, the RV02-E should be a great alternative to the fantastic original RV02.

  • newegg Revolutionary 90-Degree Motherboard Mounting Design With the revolutionary 90-degree motherboard mounting design, the Silverstone Raven RV02B-EW delivers stack effect for natural heat convection and quick and convenient access top I/O ports.
  • newegg Peerless Cooling Performance The Silverstone Raven RV02B-EW features three huge 180mm Air Penetrator fans for unprecedented positive pressure and stack effect cooling, along with 120mm exhaust top fan for added heat dissipation.

1 out of 5 eggsShameful disappointment!

Pros: -unrestricted intakes
-all intakes are dust-filtered
-a lot of positive pressure
-can fit any size GPU, CPU air cooler, & PSU

Cons: TIMELINE of failures:
Day 1: Broken front audio connector
Half a year later: rattling fans
8 months: Flicker power LEDs
9 months: Dust filter mesh starting to fall off.
Roughly 1 year later: completely dead power LEDs.

Other cons:
-weak body/frame
-flimsy side & top panels
-only 2 front USBs
-PSU intake/filter doesn't line up with short PSUs.
-no black wires on front panel connectors.
-must remove side panel to access dust filters.
-must remove top panel to access fan controllers.
-window scratches very easily.
-little cable management room in the back.
-CPU cut-out on the motherboard tray isn't big enough (limited compatibility).
-not enough cable tie-down points on the back.
-no rubber grommets for cable routing.
-none of the drive mounts are tool-less!
-orientation of the hard drives make it difficult for 90º SATA data cables with more difficulties for chained SATA power cables; basically expect to be making some U-turns when you connect your drives!!

Other Thoughts: I might've reviewed this case somewhere else or even on here before, and I remember giving it a decent score—that was only because I thought the issues were negligible. As time went on and having to LIVE with this case, more and more issues came up. I bought this case for it's great airflow, but that strong point cannot outlive the myriad of negatives present with this case. This is a $200+ case; that's surely a premium price tag, but it doesn't feel like a premium case AT ALL...nowhere even close to it. Oh, and trust me, I have emailed a rep. from SilverStone, and you know what the replay was towards my failing parts? The guy basically said that parts fail and that it's too bad. Great. A lousy one-year warranty on a premium product. Am I expected to buy a new SilverStone case every year, then? Absolutely ridiculous.

I feel nothing short of cheated, and I don't think I'd be wrong to feel incredibly disappointed and angry with this case. These feelings would be reasonable if this was a budget, sub-$100 case...BUT IT'S NOT. SilverStone is asking so much for this case and giving so little. This case is merely a travesty of a premium product.

I'll definitely be looking in another direction for my next case and never consider a SilverStone product ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsBring it back Newegg!

Pros: Great case:

90 degree design makes cooling much more efficient.

3 180mm fans at the bottom operate super quietly but push a lot of air.

Moving the PSU to the top and giving it it's own direct vent to outside air makes it run cooler and keeps the inside of the case nice and cool.

Great cable management setup.

Easy to work in and no sharp edges to nick yourself on.

Looks great.

Cons: A few minor complaints:

Should have sleeved the front panel wiring - power, reset, hdd.

As well, should have sleeved and used a black connector for the big blue led lights on the front.

Hot swap connection is only 3gb/s and is hard to get drive properly connected to. I had to push the drive in one direction and the hot swap connector in the other to get the drive to connect up.

Other Thoughts: Even though this case is big, it's actually smaller than my last case (Cosmos) and since the mobo is rotated 90 degrees, the cabling is much easier to manage. I was able to slide this case all the way back to the end of my desk and it sticks out exactly as far as the Cosmos did, since all the cabling was coming out of the back of the Cosmos.

4pin fans that can be fully controlled by the mobo and software would be nice.

Not currently available through Newegg, my favorite vendor. Bring it back Newegg!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone and sharing your experience with it. The model "RV02B-EW" has been phased out and replaced with "RV02B-EW-USB3.0" on Newegg. You can find it here on Newegg in the following link:

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Service

Pros: Great Airflow and cooling. Graphics never over 60C.

Cons: The power LEDS burned out and customer service said they don't make this case anymore so they can't send me the LED bar. I knew they were lying, they knew they were lying. They just refused to help me. I can't buy the part and it's not like NewEgg takes a return after 30 days.

I already had to get two of the giant fans replaced because the blades hit the frame.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone. We apologize if there are miscommunication with our customer service representative. The black colored RAVEN RV02 chassis (RV02B-EW, RV02B-W) are both in production and getting parts for them are of no problems. However, if you have the limited edition white RV02 (RV02W-EW), then it is no longer in production but we can still send you replacement LED bar that is of different color than what you original had (blue instead of white). If you can please get in contact with our US office again, we will do our best to make sure you have a working case. Again, below is our contact information:

4 out of 5 eggsgreat case

Pros: 1. Full tower - this doesn't mean that there is plenty of room to work with; it means that there is just enough space to work with.
2. Motherboard connectors come out the top of the case, instead of the traditional back of the case - this is the most brilliant idea for the computer case. Now I can actually put the tower on the floor right next to my desk and still have easy access to all the connections. This includes the USB connections and the power button - all at the top.
3. The 150 mm fans on the bottom are slick and quite. If you plan to go with liquid cooling and radiator, the radiator mounts right on top of the fans - that's just brilliant!!!

Cons: Even though I'm in love with this case, but I am giving it 4 eggs simply because there are things that I didn't like. So this is a part of the fair deal for proper feedback.
Ok. Here is my biggest problem with this case. The case came with a 2 port USB 3.0 extension accessory which mounts in place of the floppy drive. Sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? But here is the thing. The floppy drive mounting brackets that came with the case are the most horrible and the cheapest worst things ever!!! They are just 2 pieces of plastic with many holes in them. It is the worst design ever. It was really difficult and annoying to try to figure out which holes to use in order to be able to mount the brackets assembly into the case. Not only that they are made out of plastic, they are made out of cheap plastic. There were no details in the manual about how to mount it. The only thing that it says is to use a certain type of screw, which is not even a "plastic" screw. It is a "metal" screw.

Other Thoughts: Cons-continued
Even though it is listed in the specs - the case comes with only one adapter for internal SATA hard drivers. The current price on Newegg is $9 (+$2 shipping). Search for CP05 model name. It is not the end of the world, but for current $195 (+ $30 shipping) case I think not all, but these SATA accessories should be included. Also, you can just use your regular SATA and power connections traditionall way.
Hot swappable HDD capability is really pointless in a desktop. The only reason I went for this model over cheaper RV02-BW ($170) is because HDDs mounting direction is "coming out" instead of the traditional way "coming in from the inside".
Another thought that comes to mind is that this case comes with too many screws. I found it a little annoying to screw all the screws since my previous case came with almost no screws, where almost all the components except for the motherboard, used snap-ons. So if you buy this case prepare to use a screw driver a lot when building

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

Pros: Bought this on @mazon (from silverstone) for 178$ shipped.
This case is awesome. Design is wonderful in person, very low key but enough to be very interesting. I love the look. The 180mm AP fans push so much air even on low. not loud.

Cons: Length at almost 26inches it is a bit long but personally if you have it under your desk or to the side it should be fine. I personally like the big stature of this case. Gives a very good presence. Only con I have on this case.

Other Thoughts: Was going to buy the rv03 but I wanted more cooling so I went with the rv02. Very happy with my choice

5 out of 5 eggsCold

Pros: This case is nice, looks good, much better in person, It dose not look like a spaceship.
Droped my temps by 3c, I did already have cool temp tho.
Lots of holes to get cabels in and out.
3 Big fans!

Cons: Could have had more room in the back for all your PSU stuff, it works tho.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge!

Pros: This case is massive! There is at ton of space in here to hold just about anything you can throw at it. The massive side window in this case lets you see just about all of the pieces that you want to see while hiding the ones you don't (ie: the drive cages). I love the airflow in this case, and the massive 180mm fans run quietly. All of the installed intake fan areas - including the one on your PSU have filters which is awesome. If you are looking for a case to showcase your beautiful new parts, this is the case for you

Cons: The only con that I have with this case is the plastic pieces that hold the top hatch to the case - they're a little flimsy. I already broke one of the tabs off and I have only taken it off a handful of times. While this is a niggle, it's not a big one. The top still sits without a hitch, and so I won't take an egg off.

Other Thoughts: I love this case. If you're looking for a new one, you should take a good hard look here.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased!

Pros: -Lots of space
-Cable management very easy
-Good construction
-20 C drop in temperature over previous setup
-Airflow is amazing, the 90 turn on the motherboard does wonders for airflow

Cons: -Would not really call it a con because I am going to just buy a new cable, but, I could not place the top lid on using an adapter to connect an older cable to my TV... who really cares about that though?
-Sitting here looking at the case, trying to think of an improvement comment... but... there are none at this time.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this case to house my Gigabyte G1 Assassin and needless to say, because of my inability to research, the darn thing wouldnt fit. No worrys though, I took my old build, threw it in my new case and I am not turning back. I am so impressed with this case that I am going to purchase another Silverstone case that will fit my mobo...the TJ11. Thank you Silverstone.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: The pros are well advertised. There are excellent review articals on the WEB.

Cons: Video cards with center mounted fans will draft in some of their own hot air. My two 560 Tis were hitting 70c, but dropped to 60c when I place an exhaust fan on the connector well on top (ie at the external back of the card). The case top does not fit with the fan there.

Other Thoughts: This case is huge. The HD bay is nice, but the plastic levers won't hold up to many hot plug insertions.

5 out of 5 eggsCoolest case

Pros: This is bar far one of the best cases I have owned. The air flow is insane with the three 180mm fans. Lower fans have filters that can easily come out for cleaning. Love the hole in the back for CPU heatsink installation saved me from taking my motherboard out. HOT swap harddrive slot can literally change out a HD in 10 seconds without moving or changing any cords. HD pushes right into built in plug. Solid state drive mount location is pretty cool I thought it was a neat location. Plenty of room I am running an nvidia 580 GTX and a Zalman 9900 heatsink. All the plugins are on top of the case no need to go in the back or move the case to plug cords in. Top piece covers up all the cords. Lots of holes to hide all the power cords on the inside. EVOLUTION

Cons: Window is on the left side of the case would be nice to look at it when I play, but I keep the case to my right. No big deal.

Other Thoughts: Looks great with black asus 580GTX my black zalman 9900 heatsink black x-fi titanium soundcard and black gigabyte Z68 UD7 motherboard. Running with i7 2600k and corsair dominator DDR3 1866 memory
