SilverStone Sugo Series SG05W-LITE Computer Case

Introduced in 2009, the Sugo SG05 was a revelation for a form factor originally destined for low-powered computing. Designed for use with Mini-DTX and Mini-ITX motherboards, the SG05 held many standard components while keeping everything cooled. It was the first Mini-ITX case in its size class equipped with a 120mm fan and capable of accommodating 10in. graphics cards. This breakthrough design allowed anyone to build a fast and affordable PC in a case smaller than a shoebox. With SFX power supplies becoming more popular, thanks to the success of SG05 and subsequent case designs, SilverStone has decided to release a version of SG05 - the "SG05-Lite" - without an SFX power supply included. This bare chassis model will be more affordable and give users greater flexibility in choosing components.

3 out of 5 eggsHas some touchy parts

Pros: Neat looking little sturdy case. Has plenty of ventilation with the fan in the front.

Cons: Power button is faulty and likes to stick pressed in. I've had to take a little pin and pry it back out from being stuck pressed in. You can't turn it on with it stuck in. Real pain sometimes to deal with.
The other big problem is with the top USB port in the front. It doesn't work at all, but the bottom port works fine. So, that's pretty disappointing for me as I planned on plugging in wireless keyboard and mouse in the front for the most reliable signal strength.

Other Thoughts: It would get 5/5 stars had the two problems I talked about in the Cons weren't a thing. Using it as a media box hooked up to my 46" Samsung LED TV.
I have it loaded with:
FSP Group FSP400-60GHS985)-R 400w Micro ATX
ASRock B85M-ITX LGA 1150
Intel i5-4570S 2.9GHZ 65w
Crucial B. T. low profile RAM 4GB DDR3-1600
Crucial M500 240GB SSD SATA III

She Screams, very fast computer. Boots in like 8 seconds.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Looking Case

Pros: Awesome look and small foot print. USB 3.0 in front panel with slots for SSDs and full 3.5 HDDs. Also have the capability of using a full size video card. Airflow is awesome.

Cons: Bright LEDs

Other Thoughts: If you use this case you will definitely need a low profile CPU cooler. The stock cooler will fit.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my needs

Pros: This case can fit a full size HDD, which for my needs this time around was great, but if you want to fit a smaller SSD or laptop drive, make sure to buy a separate bracket to mount it into the 3.5 inch spot.

I didn't try to put in a disc drive, but if you do, note that it will only fit the slim line drives, not the full size ones. If you are going to that configuration, things will get cramped really fast.

This is a very quiet case in my setup, but if you put in loud fans (or a large fan GPU), I'm sure you'd see a difference. As it is, the stock fan is quite quiet, and does it's job proficiently.

Was a little confused at first look when completing the build, but once everything was taken apart, it made great sense what the designers were trying to do.

Cons: I happened to have an extra power supply on hand that would fit this, but if you're buying new, buy a modular ITX due to space constraints. Not exactly a huge "con" as you know you're buying a small case and there will be space constraints in any event.

My biggest gripe is the provided motherboard screws! You cannot use standard screws as the motherboard mounts are not deep enough, so you're stuck using the one's they sent. They are very short, and you have to push quite hard to get them to bite into the mounts with the motherboard in place.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line is that for the price, this is a great case! I only use it for it's most basic of functions, but someone else might take it and turn it into a little monster box, as it does have space for full graphic cards, and other nice features such as front USB 3.0.

In my experience with HTTP type cases, stick with the established names like silverstone, rosewill, cooler master, etc, and you'll be far less disappointed, and your installation will be far easier.

5 out of 5 eggsWell built, great price, runs cool

Pros: Small form factor, well built metal case, well ventilated, holds 2.5" + 3.5" hard drive + slim optical drive, quiet, price, mini ITX

Cons: The blue light on the front of the case is very bright, but it's not a very big deal

Other Thoughts: For $39.99 this is a great case. I've got a mini ITX mobo, Celeron 1610, 2GB RAM, SFX power supply, 3.5" and 2.5" hard drive all installed. It runs really cool. Using as a server so it's on 24/7 and temps are around 34C. It just barely fits in my entertainment center and the top has 1/8" clearance so it's running cool even with the top vent mostly covered. Make sure to use a SFX power supply (they're a little smaller). A standard won't fit.
