Athenatech’s A100SC.200 microATX case eliminates the need to find low profile expansion cards. This compact case’s four expansion slots will handle full sized cards. This way you can install a wider range of cards including TV tuners and video cards.

The wider design also made it possible to add an extra internal drive. There are two internal 3.5” drives, one external 3.5” drive and one external 5.25” drive. Installation of the drives is a snap. The internal drives have pull-out cages and the external drives have a rotating cage to make access easier. Just pop off the front panel and you’re in.

Cooling is also made more efficient since there is more room for air to circulate. Dual 60mm fans on the back panel help keep the air moving. On the off chance you need even more airflow you can install an 80mm fan in the front panel.

  • newegg Stands Horizontally or Vertically The Athenatech A100SC.200 can be laid horizontally on your desk or vertically on the floor with the included stands to fit your working space.
  • newegg Efficient Ventilation The Athenatech A100SC.200 features two 60mm rear fans and mesh on the side panel for efficient ventilation and effective system cooling.
  • newegg Built-In 200W PSU The Athenatech A100SC.200 is equipped with a superior 200W power supply unit to handle typical system power consumption.

4 out of 5 eggsFeature Rich, Sophisticated Design

Pros: :
Full length, full height PCI slots
Both the ODD and card reader/floppy hide behind cosmetic doors, this may be a con?
Ample length for all the front panel wires, will reach any MB
Huge collection of extra screws and misc hardware, including rubber feet
Front is attached via 4 friction pins and is easily removed
Two removable 3.5" HDD Trays
The ODD/Floppy bay is easily removed from the case, I used Position 3 for the ODD and 2 for the card reader

Cons: :
Terrible PSU efficiency, 9W just to run itself (short green to black)
No SATA power connectors, only 4-pin Molex
The 10" power on light bar is a bit much, however easy to disconnect
The vertical bar power switch has no click to it, only the power bar light to confirm press
The extra MB standoffs used a different screw than the attached standoffs, duh?
Poor cooling options for a high power rig, 2-60mm fans included, room for 1-80mm fan, however
the 80mm fan location has almost no external vent holes.

Other Thoughts: :
I got the silver version of this case (wish Newegg offered the silver case) to go on the bottom shelf of a coffee table. Not many cases in this class accept full height PCI cards. Because I'm doing a low power Clarkdale build, the lack of cooling was not a problem for me. I gave blood once while checking out the 80mm fan housing, so not totally free of sharp edges.

The Athenatech website has some excellent product photos to help understand all the features. While the product photo shows this case on end, I'm at a loss how you could use a tray load ODD in that position. Theirs a weird spring loaded "door" on the left side of the front, not clear its exact purpose? I mounted a 3.5 to 2 X 2.5-Inch Bay Converter into one of the HDD trays so I could use a notebook HDD.

I'd paid $20 more for this case if it would of included a 200W, 80+ PSU. I hooked up a 380W 80+ Earth Watts PSU as an experiment. It drew 34W at idle whereas the included 200W OEM PSU needed 45W.

4 out of 5 eggsnot too many cases this size

Pros: nice small size case so it's not overbearing. Nicely constructed but be careful taking the plastic front panel off so you don't break any parts.

Cons: may have trouble fitting all components.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this case for a htpc. The 200w psu is too small for anything more than web surfing so I replaced it with an Ultra 400w micro atx psu. This larger psu barely leaves enough room to fit the hard drive so a little modifying might be neccessary. Also if installing an internal dvd there might not be enough room for a large graphics card so do some card measuring before buying card.

4 out of 5 eggsNice small case

Pros: Good looking case, easy to work on, fits in small spaces and doesn't take up too much space.

Cons: Power supply is utter junk. Only had a 20 pin connector for the motherboard, didn't have a SINGLE SATA connector, only rated 200watts and is a proprietary smaller than standard design so I couldn't just swap a decent power supply into it's place.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Case For The Price

Pros: I was very suprised the case is very sturdy and its more of a silver metalic not so cheep looking as the picture on newegg. very easy to take apart and put together.

Cons: Power supply looks cheap think it was 10amp 12V I just took it out and expecting a new one today because I knew I needed a better one.

Other Thoughts: could have an option for the case without power supply at a lower cost.

3 out of 5 eggsNice case for the price But

Pros: Nice looks, decent material, it comes with a power supply. Easy to work with. Has 2 2.5 HD bays with slide out trays. Cover comes off easily, all and all nice case.

Cons: I didn't truly see a problem with the case, what I did see a problem with was the lack of information regarding the power supply. Knowing how many plugs it has is useful, knowing if it has 12v connector(s) is useful.

Other Thoughts: If you're buying this make sure it will mate up with your mobo. I had bought this to work with N82E16813128394, looking at the documentation it looks like it should go... but 20+4 pin power didn't mate up with the 24 pin on the mobo, plus the mobo requires 12v

4 out of 5 eggsGreat small case!

Pros: Great small package case! Makes a great media center case with the covered 3.5" bay -- I stuck a card reader there. Everything fits well though a little tight. I'll probably order another case like this for my living room media PC -- undecided on a case for that yet, but this one fits the bill nicely. Might spend a bit more money for the living room though...

Cons: The 250W power supply doesn't have 24 pin power or SATA drive connectors. I used this case to build a computer for my wife using some older components (Athlon 1200+ and Asus A7V400MX motherboard, 256MB AGP card, 1GB RAM, 129GB IDE HD, DVD/CDRW), so for me it wasn't a problem. That might keep me from buying it for my living room PC though. It's cheap enough, but I may opt for one with a better or no power supply.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm pleased with the case. If the power supply meets you needs or you don't mind changing it, it's a bargain!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent HTPC Case

Pros: Looks nice, case opens with thumscrews, quiet fans, quality is more than you would expect at this price point.

Cons: weak power supply, no sata power connectiions (requires adapters), case (especially front bezel) is fragile, build requires patience and gentle hands to prevent damage.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very please with this case for the price. I am only building a HTPC machine with a low power draw, so the 200 watt PSU is adequate, but it would be nice to have something larger. If the PSU goes, I am going to have a hard time finding a replacement with the same dimensions. Although the pictures don't really show it, the case has a blue glowing "line" in the front of it when built. It looks pretty cool, but it may be distracting as a HTPC in my tv cabinet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, but be careful

Pros: Excellent slim case. Looks and works well if you keep your components with specs.

Cons: Fragile, just be careful during assembly. It is not rugged so do not purchase it for this reason.

Other Thoughts: This is an ideal case for basic system, just note the power supply limitations and you will have many happy users.
