Athenatech’s A1000BB.60 case is a great choice for instances where you don’t have a lot of space for a system. It would work well in kiosks or as a video wall controller cabinet. You could also use it to control information signs in a hotel or airport. Its small size would also make it a good choice for a HTPC.

There is an external 5.25" drive bay and an internal 2.5" drive bay. The front panel also has two audio jacks and two USB ports. The 60W external power-supply delivers enough power for your ITX system needs. Once everything is installed put the lid back on and you’re good to go.

  • newegg 60W External PSU The Athenatech A1000BB.60 is equipped with an external 60W power supply unit to deliver enough power for your Atom platform system without taking up chassis space.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The Athenatech A1000BB.60 features a convenient front I/O panel for easy access to two USB 2.0 and two audio ports.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the application.

Pros: Small footprint, external power supply. Just the right amount of holes for cooling.

Cons: If I were concerned about aesthetics, this would be a no-go. Flimsy front access doors.

Other Thoughts: Using this in a manufacturing environment with a Foxconn passively cooled mobo. The appeal was the fan-less operation (to avoid pulling airborne debris inside the case). For this purpose, it works fantastic.

Pros: 1. good quality
2. small. very small...
3. Has a built-in power supply

Cons: 1. not enough venting holes.
2. only take 2.5" HDD and slim OD. Adds cost to build a system.

Other Thoughts: I put an Zotak Ion Atom ITX MB in it. It fits pferfectly.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Case, pictures and description could be a bit better

Pros: I bought this case to use for a mini-itx HTPC. The size is excellent and the separate power supply make for an ultra small form factor. The optical drive bay is a slim fit, and the case only takes 2.5" hard drives. I didn't use an ODD anyway. The ODD is hidden behind a flip down front panel and there are also 2 USB ports and front panel audio jacks behind a second lower flip down panel. The case is so small I actually have it behind a picture frame in the AV rack

Cons: Although it probably goes without saying.... the documentation was awful (luckily it wasn't needed. Overall the quality seems very good, but the fake carbon fiber plastic finish leaves a bit to be desired. A plain gloss black would have been a better choice IMHO.

Other Thoughts: I used a Zotac IonItx board with this case and am very happy with the setup overall.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very cool looking
Perfect for atom pc

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: People who are getting this case should go with ZOTAC IONITX-D-E, instead of the ZOTAC IONITX-A-U. So, you will not waste the mini-PS board that came with case.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little case for HTPC

Pros: Slim, Light and easy to work on. Used with a Zotac ionitx-a-u mobo. Fits perfectly. CPU fan just clears OD with this config.

Cons: Since mobo had a power brick I removed the mini-PS board that came with case. Only takes 2.5" HD (I used a new 500GB WD) and slim OD (I used the Sony Optiarc 2X BD).

Other Thoughts: Had to trim a bit off top plate that hold ODs and HD to get SATA cable to plug in to HD but that was easy with a pair of dikes. OD needs mini-sata cable not included. Overall would buy again.
