Xion skimped on nothing when it made the Solaris XON-406 case: all the options were included, all the requirements exceeded, and it's a knockout value. They started with the basics -- the fans. The designers went big for maximum air flow with an 80mm exhaust fan in the rear. Not content with that though, an 80mm fan was mounted on the side panel window, in the center of Xion's trademark X, to breathe relief directly onto the motherboard.

Up front wasn't forgotten either, with the spacious four 5.25" and one 3.5" external drive bays, all displayed with the style expected of a piece of art. Inside is just as impressive with a massive five bays for the internal hard drives. Durability wasn't forgotten -- the whole assembly is wrapped in the stregnth of steel, to keep your investment safe!

  • newegg Superior Expandability with 10 Drive Bays Boasting four external 5.25" drive bays, one external and five internal 3.5" drive bays, the XION Solaris XON-406 provides superior expandability.
  • newegg Effective Cooling The XION Solaris XON-406 features one 80mm rear fan and one 80mm side fan to effectively control system temperature.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The XION Solaris XON-406's fantastic transparent side panel window provides a direct view of the inner system. An 80mm fan with a blue LED improves interior airflow and looks simply amazing too.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The convenient front I/O panel enables easy access to two USB 2.0 ports and two audio ports.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Case

Pros: Fairly spacious, the fans light up the case VERY well. Price. There is a "hidden" 3.5" bay with press release cover that i installed a media card reader in, perfect application use. Everything installed easily. I prefer screws over a tool-less installtion, so i was happy with that aspect of installtion. Front panel ports all worked with my MB easy to install.

Cons: the side panel is a little tricky to re-attach. Not really any room for additional cooling fans. My feet get warm if i rest them on the tower, (could be a pro during the winter considering i live in upstate NY :-)

The front USB ports seem to be upside down compared to what i'm used to.

Other Thoughts: these aren't really cons, as i'm 100% happy with the case. The blue strips on the front bays don't light up like i thought they would. the case is slightly flimsy, which other reviews have mentioned, but seeing as i don't move my pc around a lot, it's not really a concern.

Over all it's a space saving case, with out sacrificing space on the inside. Has a very nice techy look to it with out being too flashy.

Again, I love this case. Price is right, and i haven't had any issues with it!!

3 out of 5 eggsNot too bad for the price

Pros: For less than $50, not really a bad case. All set up it lights up pretty well through the side window, but I also bought a power supply that adds some lighting as well.

Cons: Looks great, although the pictures provided on newegg are a bit overdone. All of the slots below the various drive bays do NOT light up, they merely use the light from the bottom LED; if anything (like a card reader) is in the way, they remain dark and look a bit cheesy. The hard drive was a pain in the rear to install, as it overlapped the motherboard in each of the available bays. I much prefer the side mount drive bays for hard drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case again & again

Pros: Lots of room! You can fit a full sized 9800 GTX vid card with room to spare plus you can hide ALL of your power supply wires between the case & the back panal so none show in the window. Has enough room for the 110mm Zalmann too!
It's also nice & sturdy compared to many others I've used, the optical drive doors ACTUALLY work, and it comes with 2 vent fans + room for one more.

Cons: Some areas on the case are sharp, like in the corners.

Other Thoughts: To hide the wire for the side fan, I use electrical tape along the back of the metal "X"....it perfectly hides it so when I'm done there are no wires showing.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad case.

Pros: Not bad for the money. The lights are nice and everything lines up nicely. Its a precision case for little money.

Cons: I managed to put to ATI 4870's in this case with 2 ,1 Terrabyte harddrives but it was alot of work. If you plan to build a big high end sytem like I did, plan to have knowledge on how to run wires and place components.

Other Thoughts: I am still happy with my purchase. I am a machinist by trade and I can say that this is a high quality precision made product. Just not alot of room to work with I guess.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Case

Pros: Case looks good with my LED fan lights and powersupply... I like the see through side. Its worth the price..

Cons: The rear and side fans I wanted to trade out for bigger ones but wont take them cuz of holes. Had to stay with same fans. NOt a big issue but I did mount 1 extra fan on inside front panel. Not enough room from HD bays and Motherboard once installed. I wish it had a little more room.

Other Thoughts: if your moving this computer around a lot wouldn't buy this case. It can be bent easily but for the most part Im very happy with its looks and performance. No issues yet with the case and its been 5 months...

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful And Sound

Pros: Lets try for an acurate and quality review shall we? This case Has 2 80 mm fans. On on the back panal and one on the side window. There are no extra spots for fans. The rear 80 mm fan can be replaced with a 90 mm fan. Don't think that this means bad airflow and hot computer. Has beautiful airflow. It keeps my computer very cool. It's more than adaqate for a 1 processor and 1 video card system. My system is e8400 8800gt superclocked, 2gigs 1066mhz, and a full atx mobo. This case has LOTS of hard drive bays as well as cdrom bays. Very nice design and very easy to install with. The front panal lights up and is very blue and full of awsome. Yes i just said that. The door fan also lights up. This case glows brightly and will make a very nice nightlight if you sleep with it on. This case is very light and easy to carry.

Cons: This case has rather thin metal. It is sturdy and firm but if your gonna move it around alot expect to get dents.

Other Thoughts: The only potential problem i saw was that the video card is a fair sqeeze. I have the evga 8800gt superclock. There is only about 2-4 inche gap between the end of the card and the hard drive bays. I had to mmove my hard drive in order to fit. Keep this in mind if you are planning on using the larger cards such as the GTX 280 and the 9800 GX2 This is not a con just somthing to consider. It will be a tight squeeze with these cards but i think they will fit.

5 out of 5 eggsha ha got ya newegg

Pros: finally finally, i got something that after a year or so went up in price, I feal like I busted one of Neweggs' eggs/// not really .... great case solid - looks very sharp and no problems so far

Cons: well - the tray thing for the cd tray snapped off, but that is my fat fingers to blame.

Other Thoughts: case works much better when you mod the back fan to support the big fan

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for first timer

Pros: Its a great case for someone who's first building on their own. I had my friend who's very knowledgeable with computers help me out. he also buys from newegg as well. pretty well built case.

Cons: the eject buttons for the cd-rom drives are a bit tough to get at once the drive is open to load. but other than that no complaints.
