5 out of 5 eggsGreat looking case, sturdy

Pros: One of the best looking cases in my opinion. Plenty space for a general office/mild gaming rig. Can take up to 3 140mm fans, and additional fans if you don't plan to use all of the HD rack space.

Cons: I received mine with a faulty door for the HDD cage. There are two of them on the HS2, and one of them has a tooth missing on the damper gear, causing the door to "slap" down instead of gently opening. Luckily i don't use this bay other than to run additional air into the case so it hasn't posed a problem.

some power supplies won't allow you to run a 140mm fan on the bottom of the case as it will cover the last two holes. i had to run a 120mm fan there instead.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con for me, since luckily, i have a fan controller in the top bay, but for some planning to use it for an optical drive, it's pretty cramped with the wires and cables coming down from the panel right above it.

being a mid tower case, don't expect gobs of room behind the MB to run extra cables and wires. need to tuck and manage the wires neatly to fit in this area. that's to be expected considering this case is narrower than some of the other mid-tower cases.

make sure you take note of the size of the CPU cooler. the xigmatek dark knight (night hawk ed.) barely clears the cover on my Asus z77 sabertooth mb. luckily I checked the specs before ordering.

not a case for a diehard DIY game rig, but will be perfect for anyone looking for a good. solid case that looks really sharp. if they make a successor to this case with USB 3.0, durable HDD cover/door, and with a black case interior, sign me up! (i ended up just painting mine)

5 out of 5 eggsGood case & great value

Pros: I really appreciate the HDD accessibility, fan options, padding, color, style, control and hardware placement. In fact it will be difficult for me to dwell on the items I needed to change since they were minor and I enjoy conforming a case to my personal tastes. Often I've wondered how someone could rate a case poorly if it didn't exactly fit their personal tastes and then complain it costs too much. Certainly, there is enough information available online to get a pretty good idea of what we are considering to purchase. My case included all the accessories it should have and I am well satisfied.

Cons: File these under the heading of nit-picking: considering the side cover configuration it would help to have had supplied an additional middle tab to hold the center of the side covers tight against the case. And easily removable lower fan filters would have been nice. Since I've enjoyed this case since Feb. '10 this seems somewhat hindsight but a little additional width to accommodate routing cables behind the motherboard tray would have been great also.

Other Thoughts: Since there are no perfect cases, only great products considering the constraints of technology and market pressures existing at the time of manufacture, I didn't knock off any stars for this product. In my view it is as good as the best and better then most that were available at the time at this price point. I thought air flow needed some tweaking for in stock configuration it seemed this case lacked good airflow and so to that end I added an extra exhaust fan at the case top and one at the bottom intake, then an additional fan to the left of the graphics card using an aftermarket filter and grill assembly and another at the case rear but initially without the fan itself. I checked air flow with smoke from an extinguished match and found it still drew air inside. After adding another intake fan there also it had good air flow without drawing through the optical drives. An added benefit seems to be this rear intake now supplies a cooling stream to the CPU cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds the finishing touches

Pros: - Hot swap bays work great
- Lots of room
- Included SSD adapter
- Keeps things cool

Cons: For the price paid, the case should be finished better. The side panels are a combination of steel and plastic, and they feel a bit cheap. They're difficult to take off and even more complicated to put back on. I have also started to hear a lot of rattling within the last few weeks. I checked to make sure that everything is installed properly and tightened down, but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. It just seems like Zalman had some good ideas here, but decided not to finish what they started.

Other Thoughts: For a lower price, this case would be more worth it, but now, six months later, I'm looking to replace it already.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy, But Not Fully Satisfied.

Pros: Easy access to hard drives, quality of case is obvious.

Cons: Not enough USB ports. Cable management can be a lot better.

Other Thoughts: I'd still recommend this case, and it does look sexy. I expected it to be a little bigger. I should've gotten a Full ATX case.

4 out of 5 eggsSome faults, still great.

Pros: It's almost as if Zalman read my case wish list before building the MS1000. Then, out of spite, ignored some of my suggestions or just executed them below the bar!

1. Externally accessible hot-swap bays: Unit has 2 movable modules with 3 trays ea. Both modules incl backplanes.

2. Fans for drives: 1 of the hot-swap modules includes a 92mm fan. An aftermarket fan can be added to the 2nd. There is a 2-position switch for fan speed.

3. Space for 2x 140mm fans at the top of the case: A 120mm at the top and one at upper-rear is included.

4. External retention bar for PCI cards: Provides more internal space without making case deeper, and easier access to retention screws.

5. Motherboard tray has cutout under CPU: Access to CPU cooler backplate.

6. Good cable management: Most of the cabling can be run between the right side door and the chassis.

7: Good looking and quiet: Decent materials and an elegant look. Padding on main door.

Cons: 1. Drive trays: The mechanism for securing the drive into the tray is awkward. The tray release bar is too weak to eject some drives and ends up popping out of its guide holes.

2. Side doors: It can be a pain to line up all the latches to guide the door into place.

3. 3.5" bay plate: The opening was a bit larger than my device's faceplate.

4. Drive activity light is on the top of the unit - only visible if the unit is sitting on the floor.

5. Screw-less drive mounting makes it a challenge to install all the devices and trays level. Ultimately, I used the included screws.

6. No handles! I think all cases should have handles like the Cosmos 1000 cases. But, that's just me.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the MS1000 to replace my sold Zalman GS1000 build. The GS was a bit taller and had a higher level of refinement (internally) than the MS unit. The GS was also more expensive (after adding a 2nd hot-swap backplane).

It's hard for me to rate this case fairly. Compared to most others, it's a 5-star case. However, I see this case as the economy-version of the high-end cases. That's not a bad place to be, but it opens the door to being judged at a higher standard.

I believe the MS1000 aches for a 'B' revision. A few minor adjustments could easily make this one of the best cases around.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is the ONE

Pros: Solid build. Replaced my Antec900 with this. Has a lot more room and slots for cable management. Now my case is very tidy with all the cables tucked behind (on the other side of the drive cage, no room behind mobo tray). Added an extra 92mm internal fan to help pull air better from the front. Added a bottom (intake) and an extra top (exhaust) 120mm fans. This case you can installed your PS two ways, fan facing to the floor or vice versa. I put mine facing the floor to intake air from outside. This case is beautiful but heavy. I had no problems installing 3 hard drives in the hot swap cage. Very easy to use. With 6 case fans going it is pretty quiet. No annoying bright lights. This case exudes class of its own. I am very pleased although before I received it I was kind of apprehensive considering I spent more than 200 clams (plus shipping cost) for it. Well, it is worth every penny.

Cons: Expensive but not enough to take an egg of.

Other Thoughts: This case is bigger than the Antec900 as well as many other mid-tower cases but it is NOT too big to look ugly like most full tower cases. It is a masterpiece of engineering. Aestethically pleasing. Great airflow, decently quiet. I must have looked at all the cases at newegg a million times (...well, maybe not a million) but I kept coming back to this one and finally decided it's never gonna go on sale or have free shipping. Just get it already.

3 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, but needs some major updates in the next version

Pros: One of the best looking cases in the market. If you care lot about looks and balance of features, look no further.

Lengthy in terms of video card placement, it can fit a 5970.

Hot Swappable bays, excellent even for those that don't use raid, hot swapping hah. Great for those with large storage needs and the ability to take the freggen HD out with ease.

Decent airflow, and quiet believe it or not.

Accessible top panel with *Gasp* a reset button, and E-sata port!

Cons: I expected better plastic materials, smell takes a few days to get rid of.

Pathetic attempt at screwless design on the bays, they do lock in with the buttons, but they on occasion pop back out of locking position, Zalman needs to get this fixed. Again with the cheap plastic.

Bottom vent placement for a 120mm fan, why bother, most PSU's will cover part of that vent.

Little bit narrow, as it barely handles a Thermalright ultra-120. Yes it touches the side cover.

Sides covers need major revisioning. The back screws are too small or coarse enough for your fingers, and the the sides are a PAIN to take out, you need to slide them out in two directions. After a small learning curve it becomes a little bit easier but come on we want accessibility.

Power button looks beautiful, but does not work 1/2 the time its pressed, you need to press it way too hard sometimes.

Other Thoughts: I'm giving you guys the hard truth here. I'm stressing most of the negatives so that Zalman can come out with a better version of this case, even though it is still amazing. Buy it.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case!

Pros: 95% of my build with this case was tool free! Good amount of space to work with for a mid tower. Plenty of 3.5" for hard drives and it has a space to fit two 2.5" SSD drives as well, though it is not in the hot swappable like the 3.5" slots. Leaves option to add more fans if necessary. I'd say this case is between a mid to full tower in size because it is clearly a little bigger than my Lian Li Mid Tower. Built in wire management is a big plus. Case is clearly very professional looking.

AMD Phenom II 720 x3 2.8Ghz
Zalman CNPS9700
Seasonic 750w X-Series Gold
Sapphire ATI Radeon 5770 VaporX
AMD Black 4GB DDR3 1600
OCZ Vertex Turbo 60GB SSD
2x WD Cavalier Black 1TB

Cons: Zalman, you forgot the accessories and manual with my case like the other reviewer before! I had to go through my own parts to scavenge screws to mount my parts properly! I've put in a request via email to your support team to possibly send me the missing accessories. Especially the legs that goes underneath the case...currently using books to elevate it to keep optimal airflow flowing. I took off an egg rating for the mistake.

Other Thoughts: I've researched many cases on Newegg and finally found the one! Now if they could just remember to include the accessories...

5 out of 5 eggsFeature rich and very classy

Pros: This case is a pc builders dream, and at an extremely reasonable price. Zalman really threw the kitchen sink at this thing. 6 Hot swap hard drive bays can be accessed without opening the case. Just open one of the two doors in the front, pull the lever for the drive you want and slide it right out. 5 1/4" bays are all tool-less and feel very secure. Cut out for cpu back plate. Cut outs for cable management. Location for 2 hard drive cooling fans with built in fan speed control (includes 1 fan.) Large 120mm fan on the rear and top of the case with room for another fan on the top and bottom of the case. Exterior of the case is very classy looking. It has a nice satin smooth matte black finish with smooth rounded glossy black edges. This is a very elegant understated case. No plexi windows or neon lights. The case has a large round back lit power button (not a blinding LED) and a very small (unnoticeable when not lit) activity lite. All other inputs and buttons are hidden.

Cons: With stock fan configuration this is definitely a negative pressure case. the front has plenty of hidden air inlets (Recessed slits around the edges of the case) but only the included hard drive fan is set up to pull air into the case. I would suggest buying a second hard drive fan and a 120mm intake fan for the bottom of the case if you plan on using a lot of hard drives or a high end video card. I have had no temp issues with this case, but it definitely has less cfm potential than something like a HAF with its all mesh front. Personally I do not like the look of cases with mesh front panels, so I am willing to make the trade off for decreased airflow potential.

Other Thoughts: I only listed a fraction of what this case has to offer. My only con was not worth me taking an egg off as it is merely a warning to anyone wanting a super high airflow case.

System specs:
Intel Core i7 920, corsair H50 cpu coller, asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard, OCZ gold DDR3 1600 6GB RAM, Radeon HD 5870 graphics, zalman ms1000 h2 case, Intel X25-M G2 SSD, Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB HDD, Corsair 850HX PSU

3 out of 5 eggsMissing parts

Pros: This is a solid case. I like the hot swap drive bays. Zalman indicates that a separate third ba will be made available shortly.

Cons: Box was missing all accessory parts. I tried to contact New Egg via chat, but a week later, I still have not had a response or received replacement parts.

Other Thoughts: The hot swap bays are tool less, however do have trays. From the pictures, they appeared to be trayless.
