Timing Problems for large files
- Pros: These inexpensive units may work differently depending on your motherboard's IO timing.
- Cons: The manufacturers manual is entertaining but incomplete. Perhaps their term 'whopping' is a Chinese shorthand for the missing tip - see below.
- Other Thoughts: If you encounter 'delayed writing' errors (in XP) try this: In the drive's Properties, Hardware, drive name, Properties, Policy: Check 'Optimize for Performance'. You should make the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the system tray to 'Always Show' & REMEMBER to use it when disconnecting the drive or you will lose any data left in the write cache.
- Pros: everything the best internal to external i have ever used
- Cons: i gave no problems i use it every day with different devices
Works great for upgrading Tivo
- Pros: Product worked great for transferring data from my old Tivo HD hard drive to my new Tivo hard drive that I purchased on here. I bought two of these things things and hooked them up to my laptop and they did a great job.
- Cons: They honestly do seem kinda flimsy. They did do a great job and I think they would be fine for occasional use but, I would not trust these things if I had to use them every day.
The plastic on these things is cheap and it feels like it will just pop apart. The powersupply is also very finicky. I would not trust the powersupplies on these things if I used them everyday either.
- Other Thoughts: The instruction manual has to be about the worst slaughtered version of English that I have ever read in a manual. Whoever wrote it is not a native English speaking person and that person must not have had access to a English language spell check.
If you really need the instruction manual to figure out what you are doing, do not buy this thing because, I know what I was doing and could make no sense of anything written in the instruction manual.
