3 out of 5 eggsLag

Pros: Worked great when IT said they wouldn't put a third video card in my work box.
Works for viewing call center adherence, reading email, CRM usage

Cons: Loss the ability to use Aero.
Sucks for refreshing/loading/web pages
Noticeable lag for word processing.

Other Thoughts: Sold it to a co-worker cuz I no longer needed it as I was changing jobs.

4 out of 5 eggsGOOD !

Pros: This is great because it gives you the capability to use two screens without having to open the PC.
The setup is simple and as long as you follow the directions you shouldn't have any problems. The beauty of this device is that it can be removed and installed on another pc with minimal configurations. This is a big plus for systems administrators that have to constantly make changes on their networks because of user's needs and workstations that fail.

Cons: Have a slight flicker on the monitor that is connected to the StarTech device, but if the flicker doesn't get worst it doesn't interfere with its performance.

4 out of 5 eggsGood and solid!

Pros: It just works! I've used this product and it's predecessors for several years in multiple offices. The easiest solution for dual monitors you can get. Worked well with Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit.

Cons: Flickers on start up.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure whether the flickering of the monitors was a con, until the client called and was terrified! They thought the sudo fireworks display was their computer melting down. It's just an exciting and perhaps "undocumented benefit". Still, the product is the easiest and most trouble free way to get dual monitors running quickly. I have no idea how it would be for gaming or graphic intensive programs.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks far better than I expected

Pros: Works pretty much perfectly... allows for an additional monitor without adding another VGA jack. Screen is not at all blurry or off though I am not using an HD monitor with it.

Cons: It was a little hard to find out how to change resolution and other settings but that was mostly my own incompetence in not reading the directions.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended!

2 out of 5 eggsA joke

Pros: If you have onboard video and NOT a dedicated card and just want an extra monitor it may work but don't bet on it.

Cons: These do not work more often than they do work. They cause monitor flashing, windows to default to 8 bit color, outright no video, they are incompatible with onboard/video card combinations. There are just too many cases where they don't work properly.

4 out of 5 eggsJust fine

Pros: Easy to use. Works fine. Got it, went to their website downloaded drives, install with ease. Not really for games, but works great as an additional screen for everything I use it for which is web, email, java apps, office, and pictures.

Cons: Have to wait for the system to enable USB on boot before you see anything on your screen.

Other Thoughts: Have have been using this with my laptops, sometimes as my second screen with Windows 7, sometimes as my 3rd screen with XP. Works like a champ.

My only regret is I got one. Been looking for another one so I can have 4 screens, but the price when up.

1 out of 5 eggsPLease do not buy this

Pros: The theory is sound, but it does not deliver

Cons: I tried 2 of these on 2 different Dell machine's, both had the same problem. After a period of time the resolution would reset itself back down to 640x480 on a 19" LCD. Not acceptable for my customers. I replaced them with standard geforce pci cards for $45.

Other Thoughts: I intended on using these because the machines were going to be replaced next year and thought it would be easier to move the USB adapters to the new machines. In the end I had to return twice to replace each adapter for the same problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Device

Pros: Added as secondary video card on a mini Atom Workstation. Works great for displaying statistical data.
Graphs updated every second or so.

Cons: Don't expect awesome performance. It get's the job done for static screens and graph updates.

Other Thoughts: running in 1680 X 1050. Lower resolutions should get better performance.
