5 out of 5 eggsWorks very well and is well built!

Pros: This product works perfectly; it converts HDMI to DisplayPort, and passes audio. IT DOES NOT WORK BACKWARDS, as there is no such product that will convert DisplayPort to HDMI! This product also has the added benefit of not having the DP locking "fangs" that typically retain the DP connection in the source equipment, which can be a hassle to release in some occurrences.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This product is well built. I have purchased and tested more than a dozed makes and models of adaptors like these and most are flimsy and cheaply manufactured. This model is well built.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Reversible

Pros: As an adapter to convert a source display port to HDMI, it works great.

Cons: What I wanted was to convert a source HDMI to display port, this it will not do. I purchased one and it wouldn't connect my laptop's HDMI out to a display port on a monitor, after purchasing 4 of them and multiple calls to Startech explaining what I wanted, I finally came to this conclusion. Startech apparently thinks it will, but it doesn't. Zero eggs for tech support, 3 for the product working great as per the pros.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if this was explained better in the product description and more importantly, better understood by Startech's tech support.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: Works - for a little while

Cons: Cannot support the weight of an HDMI cable, and will likely break apart with a small amount of pressure (~5 lbs). It appears impossible to reassemble.

Other Thoughts: It is also much cheaper at a competitor's site($7.95), but just as junky.
"Prices and availability can change very quickly on the Newegg.com website, so please leave such information out of your review."
Pleases and thank you's are nice, but the price has not changed.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with eyefinity

Pros: It works as a simple DP to HDMI adapter

Cons: It wont work with eyefinity... I had an HD5770 and i wanted to connect three monitors on it and two via dvi and one via hdmi. The DVI ones worked but the HDMI wouldn't work

Other Thoughts: I got an DP to VGA adapter and it did the trick

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: No difference in colors or display resolution because of the adapter. No software to install, and no external power supply because this is NOT an active adapter. Very good price range when compared to other adapters for DisplayPort.

Cons: It may be a bit long if you are using the adapter on a laptop. With the HDMI plug in it and everything, we are talking about the plug sticking away from the computer about 4", so it could get knocked or broken off quite easily.

Other Thoughts: I own a Lenovo ThinkCentre that supports multiple monitors. However, Lenovo chooses to use DisplayPort for their products for some reason, so I had to find an adapter to HDMI. I would say that for the price, this is the best adapter that is available on the market. At least for an ATI Radeon HD 3470 graphics card. I have heard that some graphics cards do not support this adapter though because it is not an ACTIVE adapter. (It is only a physical adapter, the graphics card is the one that has to export the video as HDMI instead of DisplayPort)

Make sure to check that your graphics card will support this adapter so that you don't end up getting a $20 paperweight.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat the heck is that on my laptop

Pros: Small, tight fit, works great.
Converts the DisplayPort connector to native HDMI.
DisplayPort is a royalty cheap-out for Laptop manufactures to save $1.00 for every unit they produce so we have to go buy another cable or adapter to carry around.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: A short cable version would be nice if it can make the extension off the edge of the laptop smaller, but the price made me choose this one and it's fine.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it allows eyefinity...

Cons: vga it's a always a let down compared to DVI or HDMI, it's not asa sharp.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if it's the adapter or ATI driver but I get intervals of black screens for about 2 to 3 seconds and it's really anoying- recently it got worse.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Solid construction, adapts display port to HDMI

Cons: Price, but hey, all A/V adapters are overpriced. This one was better than normal

Other Thoughts: What more can I say? It converts my ThinkPad's Display Port to HDMI so I can plug it into my TV for $14!
