4 out of 5 eggsVery good board

Pros: Handles Core 2 Duo, 4 GB memory, silent integrated video adapter, reliable, and minimal bells and whistles.

Cons: Integrated video adapter has analog output, but board can be converted to digital output with a silent PCI Express x16 add-in card, such as the Wintec Pegasus ADD2 Card.

Other Thoughts: Integrated video adapter not appropriate for demanding games, but I'm not a gamer so the integrated video has been fine for my needs. Computer stand-by works, but is not automatic; it must be manually initiated.

4 out of 5 eggsIntel "Essential Series", Very Reliable and Stable. Great board! Near end of lifecycle?

Pros: STABILITY, SIMPLICITY, RELIABILITY. I've been running this board ALMOST NON-STOP FOR TWO YEARS with Windows XP (SP2, then SP3).

"ESSENTIAL SERIES". This is one of Intel's "Essential Series" boards which are great for their stability, simplicity, and reliability when used for what they were designed: basic 'essentials' (web browsing, word processing, occasionally viewing DVDs, etc., and NOT hardcore gaming, overclocking, or an HTPC). The onboard audio, video, and LAN adapter are suitable for mainstream use, including playing mp3s, streaming audio, streaming video, and the like.

Cons: PROBLEMATIC IDE INTERFACE. IDE drives occasionally become problematic and useless under Windows XP Home (SP2 and SP3). . . still not sure if this is an XP shortcoming or a never-to-be-fixed BIOS or chipset issue. Gave up trying to figure it out; no problems since replacing IDE drives with SATA drives.

PROCESSOR SUPPORT. Officially supported processors max out at the Core 2 Duo E6700. The supported E6XX0 processors are becoming somewhat hard to find - and still relatively expensive. [See 'Other Thoughts' . . . ]

Other Thoughts: ONLY FOUR EGGS DUE TO IDE HICCUPS AND LIMITED CPU SUPPORT. THIS BOARD HAS BEEN SO RELIABLE AND STABLE I almost hate NOT giving it five eggs. This board may be near the end of its usefulness in new system builds (or even as a replacement board) if for no other reason than the LACK OF COST EFFECTIVE CPU AVAILABILITY FOR A MOTHERBOARD IN THIS PRICE RANGE.

CPU AND RAM. Running very stable without any problems with Pentium D 820 (2.80GHz, 800MHz FSB) - stop laughin' - and 2GB, 667MHz, 5-5-5, 1.8V, DDR2 (Kingston Value RAM).

INNOTEK VIRTUALBOX. Occasionally running various Linux distros in InnoTek VirtualBox (open source, now part of Sun) - only problems are limitations of the Pentium D, not this motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Awesome board. Currently own about 40 of these and put them in servers. Nothing bad about this board. Very stable.

Cons: Nothing really. Maybe could use GIG network card but gig is fairly useless anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsno frills, no flaws

Pros: Great price, no bumps, great performance.

Cons: Driver CD autoplay utility was abysmal and failed to work whatsoever on any version of windows. Just ran the driver installation manually. Drivers did work fine then, and can be downloaded anyways. 4 pin fan connector on motherboard is either off or temp regulated, no way to set to full on. There is a 3 pin right beside the cpu socket that I used since noise was no issue

Other Thoughts: No fancy BIOS tweaking options. Great board for typical consumer product

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: Very stable, and plenty fast for all but the most demanding environments. I really like these and have approx. 50 in use

Cons: none really....

Other Thoughts: You need to install the video drivers from either the website or the disk for Vista screen savers to run.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy.

Pros: The SATA works okay. RAM too I suppose.

Cons: Well. We have bought three of these boards for a business, and they have been a disaster. One on computer, the board has taken out two power supplies and a hard drive before we tracked the problem to the board itself. On another computer, none of the USB ports work, even those on the back of the computer which are fixed to the board. The processor voltage is over-charged by four hundredths of a volt, which is enough to keep the processor idling at its maximum temperature. The last of three computers has been found to be idling at thirty degrees over maximum, and to top it off, the power LED doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: For a large brand like Intel, you would expect a quality computer component.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: I've built over a dozen machines with this board. Works great with NT and Linux (CentOS 5 and Fedora 8) using the Core Duo 6400 and one or two gigs of RAM. Be sure to match the CPU speed to the board. It's hard to find a board that works well with Linux - this one does.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy installation

Pros: I used this board with 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 processor that I picked up. Not a screaming machine, but pretty solid. I can upgrade processor sometime in future. Installation was easy. Bios was updated very easy.

Cons: This was used to upgrade an existing system. Unfortunately the board did not recognize windows on the old hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Bios had to be updated before I could get ethernet connection to internet.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good board!!

Pros: this board can be something even later on. it has a nice range of CPUs it supports. if you go to intel's sight with a BIOS update there are even more then listed on newegg. also it supports 4GB of ram that enough for anybody

Cons: for my uses there really aren't any. some would say no over clocking and poor BIOS. if you overclock it will void all warntys on you CPU

Other Thoughts: if you buy this make sure you download the updated BIOS and drivers from intel. it will save you a lot of time in the long run. also i didn't have any problems installing the updated ones, and then again i didn't ever use the CD that came with the board

1 out of 5 eggsNEVER AGAIN

Pros: Well it did boot and run for about 1 month although it seamed pretty slugish.

Cons: After that it started having reboot issues for no reason. Turn the comp on and as soon as the windows screen came up it rebooted again and again and again. Turn off let it sit awile try again. After awile it would boot. Windows would report a serious hardware problem for each time it rebooted. I went into the bios and tried changing the cas from cas 4 to cas 5 to see if it was a memory issue. hoping slowing the memory would help. BIG MISTAKE.. THE BORD HAS NEVER BOOTED SINCE! Intel tech supprot is a joke I had to buy more memory to prove that wasent why it wouldent post.

Other Thoughts: I have now spent over 1.5 hours on the phone with Intel now ( over the course of 16 days) after all that they tell me to clear the cmos I have to leave the batter out for 24 hours? *** I have never heard of that before. I clear cmos on EVERY OTHER Board I have ever had in less then 10 min removing the battery. Besides why couldent they inform me of this BEFORE I bought more memory? Then they also inform me that still may not reset the memory timmings? well ge does it CLEAR THE CMOS OR NOT?
LIKE I SAID NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY AN INTEL MOTHERBOARD
