5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Definitly a great board; fast, and easy to install. I have had no problems with this board at all...

Cons: Haven't found any.

Other Thoughts: Ordered this board for a client and it is running very sturdy. Definitly going to use it again for future customers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Workstation Board

Pros: Built for my son (I bought it, he built it)--used for graphics/video editing workstation. This is part of Intel's Classic series, and intended to be a stable, fast workstation for a corporate environment. GigaBit Ethernet, FireWire, 10 USB ports, support for 8GB RAM. and Intel is quick to update the BIOS.

Cons: None at all. Don't listen to the boneheads who didn't read the details first and then try to overclock it. Intel has other boards setup for gamers that are highly overclockable.

Other Thoughts: Looks, runs great since Dec '06 in a Cooler Master Centurion case (N82E16811119077), Cooler Master eXtreme Power RS-430 PS (N82E16817171015), C2D E6300, Rosewill Z3 HSF (N82E16835200013), 8600XT (just upgraded to 9600XT), and 2 GB Corsair XMS (N82E16820145034)--upgraded to 4GB of G.Skill (N82E16820231098) when it was on sale last month. Vista Business. Runs 24/7 with Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc. no problems.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent Mobo for a basic home office/internet machine. Onboard graphics saves having to buy a separate card. Build went very smoothly. 800mhz FSB matches perfectly with Allendale CPU, and inexpensive PC2-6400 ram.

Cons: Intel chipset doesn't support SLI if ever desired in the future. But this rig wasn't built with gaming in mind anyway.

Other Thoughts: Not an overclocker. Check the memory timings. Supports only 5-5-5-12 @ 1.8V. I used M***kin 9996527 with no problems. This is plenty fast for a home office rig.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs

Pros: Built in firewire - Brand (you would think.)

Cons: 2 DoA boards in a row. The first one was purchased with high end Corsair 2.1v 4-4-4 RAM. Silly me for not reading the fine print - not compatible. Sent it back and got KVR in its place, still would not boot. Didnt even offer beep codes when RAM was removed - nothing. Could not, at this point, ,determine if the board was the culprit - so I replaced the CPU and PSU along with it. The new one does the exact same thing.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother. There are better boards out there for the same or less. Save yourself the headache and go with Asus, Abit, MSI or even FOXCOMM!!

4 out of 5 eggsIDE PROBLEMS

Pros: All around good board

Cons: NO secondary IDE, quirky ide support from 965 chipset

Ide problems at first, did a little researching / experementation found out problems.

Other Thoughts: For those of you who have boot problems from an IDE cd/dvd rom drive

set ide hdd to slave,
then set ide-hdd/cd to master,
Cannot guaranty that this will fix your problems but it worked for me.

4 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied

Pros: Built-in gigabit networking, high-quality built-in SigmaTec sound, USB, FireWire, 3.0GB SATA, takes DDR2 800 RAM and Core2 Duo processors.

Cons: Windows Vista rates the video as only 3.8 on the Windows Experience scale. This is good enough for the Aero glass UI theme, but if you're seriously into gaming, you'll want a separate video card.

Other Thoughts: Basically the same board as the Intel DG965SS, but in a full ATX form factor rather than mATX, and with two extra PCI slots. I put a Core2 E6420 CPU on it with Kensington DDR2 800 RAM and it's very happy.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Very easy installation. The diagram is very clear even if you are not very technical. Plenty of USB ports and fan connectors. Works well with the Intel E4600 and Kingston Value 800MHz RAM.

Cons: Even though it has an IDE controller, I could not get an IDE DVD drive to work. The drive spins, but no data can be accessed. But it works great with SATA drives, which is what I bought it for, so no bigie.

Other Thoughts: Use only with SATA drives. Windows Vista reported a problem with the chipset driver, but it also provides a link to download the correct version from Intel, which works well.
