It's hard to get excited about a motherboard unless you're into all the little geeky details. Well this one has some nice details to geek out over. An Intel board that runs (naturally!) their Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Duo processors (along with Pentium EE and Pentium), it sports many of the features you'd like to have in a powerful motherboard.
Like the ability to support up to eight SATA 3 Gb/sec drives and use four of them in Raid configurations (0/1/0+1/5), or three PCI Express x16 slots (one electrically for either x16 or x8 boards, one electrically is for x8 boards, and one electrically is for x4 boards), the ability to work with up to eight GB of DDR2 800 RAM, four rear USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100/1000 Mbit LAN connection, a rear Firewire connection, 8 channel audio with five ports, two S/PDIF output ports (one optical, one coaxial), a Com port, 2 PS/2 ports, a line printer port, plus on-board connectors to allow you to add another four USB 2.0 ports and a Firewire port.
You get a parallel ATA controller to control two devices, and enough cables to get you started: 1 PATA/IDE cable, 1 floppy disk cable, 2 "latching" SATA cables (no more hard drive glitches because you sneezed too hard!), a 24 pin power supply connector, a rear panel shield for your I/O; with Crossfire and Hyperthreading support and a 1066/800 MHz front side buss, this is a solid board that should meet your requirements.

Wow
- Pros: Built about 30 custom PCs now. This board has excellent physical tolerances - no 'fudging' the edge of the motherboard to get holes to line up, it drops in. Performance is great. BIOS setup is pretty well laid out - though I don't overclock so I can't speak to that. Excellent documentation and quick reference card.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: I've used quite a few other brands of motherboards. This is my first Intel one and I'm impressed. Oh yeah, if you know what you're doing, get the OEM version rather than the retail. According to the pictures the only difference is a fair bit of money and a round IDE cable rather than a flat one.
Great board, Stable, Fast
- Pros: Out of the box, was able to overclock my E6600 from 2.4 to 3ghz without temps even rising 5 degrees! Ram selection important for this board, as you can really push the speed and voltages VERY high - make sure your ram can keep up. Only issue is the dang intel splash screen and difficult to reach cmos clear (ends up almost under your video card). A great board.
- Cons: Some bios options are unclear (what the heck does 'advanced debug' in the maintenance mode do? cant find anything about it anywhere. Cmos jumper in bad spot.
- Other Thoughts: A great board for easy, stable overclocking.

Very Good :)
- Pros: WORKS well!!!
- Cons: NONE
- Other Thoughts: It came in the UPS box???? I guess Intel run out of boxes lol
- Pros: None to speak of.
- Cons: Arrived DOA.
- Other Thoughts: Computer turns on, but with no video. Swap a few parts out, see that everything works fine so I'm now returning the mobo. Trying something different this time.
- Pros: This is my second one of these and it was just as good a decision as it was last year. Recommend this board for "power users"... Intel's newer chipset boards are beginning to look more sexy than this... but I wanted to know what I was getting this time around. Last year at this time, this was the top-of-the-line board, from what I can remember...
- Cons: Installing XP can be a bit of a PITA, but it's worth it. Google and intel.com are your friends
