3 out of 5 eggsRemember to cross check

Pros: Great board for older socket 775 CPU

Cons: Not compatible with the Pentium D 935 processors although Newegg says it is Intel says no as do I when I tried to install it PC would post but no video.
Box containing the board was loosely packed so the driver disk got damaged due to the board shifting and scratching up the disk, and the floppy was missing

Other Thoughts: Great customer service help I called about the disk and was offered an rma which i declined the rep. then checked with the warehouse to see if there were any extra to send out to replace the damaged one, but there was not one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat stable board

Pros: Extremely stable, makes an excellent board for an XP Pro workstation or HTPC. Everything (almost) works great as with any other Intel 3-series chipset, Intel-manufactured motherboard. I normally go with the DG33FBC or DG33BUC for workstations but gave this a shot since it had DVI-D out.

It's a great board that plays nicely with an Antec NSK3480 enclosure!

Cons: Knocked off one egg because it still has an outstanding bug - Even with the newest BIOS (rev. 0413) the video output switches back to VGA (only AFTER a warm reboot OR hard reset!) if you're using DVI-D exclusively. It switches back to DVI-D after WinXP loads the Intel graphics driver as long as you have the default display set to digital in the driver config. This is with an Acer 2216W LCD but I doubt it matters.

PATA header placed very poorly just like the DG33BUC. Who puts optical drives near the bottom of their case?!

Other Thoughts: Update the BIOS as soon as you get it since Intel has been shipping 'iffy' initial BIOS revisions since the 8xx and 9xx series chipsets. The DG35EC is now available and looks to be a better choice if you'd rather have PS2 ports instead of higher-end audio and an eSATA port.

4 out of 5 eggsGood MOBO id you don't mess with the memory settings

Pros: I used this board as a replacement for a similar one I fried in my Gateway Machine. The aformentioned frying was done by trying to manually adjust my gSkill Ram to its specified 1066mhz. I ended up frying the second board as well doing the same experiment. On the 3rd board I let the bios automatically set the Ram to 800mhz, so all's well now. In other words.... This mobo is easy to install and works great so long as you dont try to adjust ANYTHING with the RAM. I learned the hard way. Solid performer otherwise.

Cons: Not an overclockers mobo. Works great installed out of the box but no playing reccomended.

Other Thoughts: Micro ATX Steel Case, 450W PS, Quad6600 CPU, BFG8800GT Video Card, 22" LCD, 2x 500gig HD's Raid 0

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: Evertyhing works perfectly, No problems with BIOS, or sound or anything else for that matter. Vista 64 works great, and I have 8G of ram, so I have no idea why other users are having issues. Probably inexperience...

Cons: NONE!!

Other Thoughts: Works has specified. READ the specs !!!

2 out of 5 eggsBe cautious

Pros: The only pro is that it fortunately works after many changes.

Cons: BIOS is very flaky to say the least. RAM nust be of the EXACT timing and voltage. No leeway as in other boards. All things combined I believe this is the worst mobo I have ever bought. Never again for Intel.

Other Thoughts: As stated, no more Intel mobo's for me or my clients.

1 out of 5 eggsSound DOA on Arrival

Pros: NONE, other than the number of connections.

Cons: HD sound would not allow drivers to be installed, windows indicated faulty hardware. Appears to be a common problem with the sigmatel HD chips. Just do some google searches. I would stay away from this board. Cheaply made

Other Thoughts: Disappointed in Intel. :-( Had to send back to newegg...RMA

2 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: Worked with a lot of expertise.

Cons: BIOS would lock up occasionally during setup and it would not recognize the full 4 gig of ram as advertised. Died completely in 10 days.

Other Thoughts: Going to get a RMA ASAP from newegg but will never buy another Intel board.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Workstation Board, Never one BSOD

Pros: Very stable and fast for my 3D/motion graphics needs. Onboard video is actually very usable in a pinch, supporting DirectX 10. Onboard optical audio out is great. Great paired with 4 x 1GB of G.SKILL DDR2 800 RAM and a Core2Quad Q6600. Onboard firewire is A+. Lots of USB ports, and with onboard headers combined there are 12 possible.

Cons: No floppy connector and a rather recent RAID/SATA/IDE on ICH9R means that some older OS versions (XP, earlier Linux distros) will have a hard time seeing your hard disks out of the box. XP solution: use nLite to make a slipstream installation CD with the driver. Vista installation, provide the driver on the Intel CD for ICH9R. Linux, use any distro after Oct. '07.

Other Thoughts: Compatible with Leopard, save for NIC and onboard graphics, at time of writing.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Disapointment

Pros: None that I can attest to. I never got one to function.

Cons: These boards were manufactured in China and the quality was really pathetic for a board with the Intel name on it. The first one I got was DOA and would not even power up. The second one worked for an hour and then would not post or enter the bios menu. I surrender. I will look for another board to meet my needs. I have had good luck with Abit and Gigabyte.
