5 out of 5 eggsSolid as a Rock

Pros: Like the earlier 4/2015 review by Silas, I've used the DX58SO daily for almost 7 years, and it has Never missed a beat. It has run every program and game I've thrown at it over the years, whether for work ... or fun!
The onboard RAID is solid and I've run combos of JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1 all at the same time - no issues.
It has run every video card and SLI combo I could stuff into it and has been a pleasure. I ran a couple of ATI video cards, but the bulk have been nVidia (i.e. GTX295,GTX460x2SLI,GTX760,GTX980 water cooled)
The i7 processor has always been water cooled, mildly overclocked, and stable as you can ask for.

Cons: It is hard to poke such a reliable piece of equipment in the eye, but it could have benefitted from more internal SATA ports. I was never able to connect all devices at same time. Not a con of this particular board, but I was extremely disappointed to see Intel exit the motherboard market in 2013. They never made 'EXCITING' boards that appealed to the masses, and that did them in. Intel made solid, reliable hardware. Kind of like comparing a 'Gigabyte, ASUS, etc.' Lexus to a basic 'Intel' Chevrolet - but Hey! I'm a Chevy Man!

Other Thoughts: For a daily work horse, I'd still recommend this platform to anyone TODAY and for many more years to come, if you can lay hands on a used one.
But for more modern and intensive programs (i.e.CAD, video) and newer games, it can't keep up.
This review is bascially a sentimental 'so long' to a reliable motherboard that was a breeze to build on, and a pleasure to use. However, after about 7 years, the technology has left it behind. I am moving to the PCIE 3.0, USB 3.1, and other bells and whistles of an X99 Haswell-E system shortly; the next 'Enthusiast' Class Platform since this X58. It's been a good run. Cheers

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Picked up this board from a friend after troubleshooting power supply issues with my old EVGA MB, ended up keeping this one due to it's stability and reliability.

Cons: Four slots for RAM, that's really only average.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard!

Pros: It's a great motherboard and has a solid layout. I truly enjoyed upgrading to triple channel DDR3 from my old DDR2 system. It's been pretty solid so far without any problems, I was a little worried when I saw all the negative reviews.

Cons: I found that it had pretty decent temps when the CPU (i7 960) was overclocked when I used my aftermarket- not so much with stock Intel cooling. It was a good 15C hotter then aftermarket.

5 out of 5 eggsTo any one who have troubles with these board, some problem happen on DX58SO2

Pros: All the Pros I did list on my previous feedback, Here is follower up help anyone who may have troubles. First these is my build up:
CPU: Intel i-7 960 3.2G
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 X2 (XMP setting read, do remeber to set it up in BIOS log to reachs best rating finnal go for 12GB soon to fit tri-channel)
Video card: MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 (best ATI 5570 on that baget and I am not hard gamer anymore)
Case : Antec 300 (use it in studio, Otherwise go with Illusion which price almost same)
Power: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V (important! will explain below)

Many people blame these board on Dead screen it cuz failure set up on BIOS, like update for system hardware not require do so, These board 's BIOS update do have some stablity issue, For my advise: any I-7 960 or below use BIOS 4121, (which I tested right here working stable)
Any I-970 or higher use BIOS 5020 which defined as only stable version so far. (have't test

Cons: No ATA board conent. Give up my old ATA DVD-burner.
Use higher power supply, just hardwares I listed above comes out need an 312w in tech caculation, In with add more fans or other devices, you need an 500W above power support. Socket 1155 more enconmy.
No smart tech for power set up. Which many player blame it won't wake up in sleep, or NO internet contenction wake up after away mode. U need either contect all your Fan on board or system device to let ur board control it or set ACIP in BIOS, Other wise can make system fail from wake up. mutilple Fans contenct on same cable set them on SAME Volt. I set all FAN on LOW to void unexperting damge.
These board post system message if unexperting power restart to help any unstable BOIS setting pupose, Nice thoughs, scare and bothers some people.
Really high temperture use origanl Cooling when overclock. (I planing a cooling system build up right now.)

Other Thoughts: Get it on Open Box deal, which scare the X#$ out me when I recieved it, NO Cables(orignal 90`blue SATA could be Cool)
No IHO Fan, (really nessary if you don't have a great cooling system), one I miss most the Skull LOGO Cover for design pupose. And I/O sheild, no replacement on market, I called Intel for ordering one, they send it for free in 3-5 days, yesterday recieved tracking # for coming 3 days later. just 3 bucks, but made my decision to wirte these. For anybody who never bought Open Box like me before. You better know, You never know what you gona not get. Even it necessary for assemble. List on terms. Take it as advise when you buy special items.
If these helps u on DX58SO2 build up, post it.

5 out of 5 eggsBeen a Intel Fan and will keep do so

Pros: Greally Cool Design, they planed it detailed even the painting. These was my second Intel motherboard, Last one runed 4 years and still good now, used it Intanlled IOS system, for webservers hosting, I just like try many stuff. kind slow when compare with todays tech now, But really stable, These one great so far and will still do so without doubt.

Cons: Really not kind Market brand for non-tech user, You need read their Compatibility list on their web support before you randomly purashed other parts.
Learned it from my last board, bought memory card but function weired, then I found out it only support 1 kind pin and volt for acheive the highest rate. I try BOIS it myself to make it work, Unfortunately burn one memorys. But Borad still good. Who need one low rate memory for dual channels. purashs another pair with the system list, and Bing, Works great.
And these PC it the first one stand for four years under the way I play.

Other Thoughts: Will update if there is any issues for these board, if no funture followup, then guess it still function good here.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy/Horrible Mobo

Pros: None. Piece of junk read cons.

Cons: I have 2 of these boards. They will both work for the first month or two after being built. Makes the pcs auto reboot, not post, freeze on anything including loading the bios. Also the memory slots are mounted in the most horrible spot, not accessible with radiators. Both of these mobos don't work anymore. I have tried both of them, with different i7's, different memory, different psu and different gpus. Junk card. Don't buy. I will be contacting intel and request full refund of both of these boards.

Other Thoughts: If you think you should buy this, don't. I have been a EVGA and Asus fan, and from now I will only buy and sue their mobos. Intel mobos are junk.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking as Intended

Pros: PCI express slots are spaced correctly for larger high quality video cards. Bios is easy to navigate/access.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is the second Intel board I have bought and both have been of out standing quality. 4 RAM slots is on the lower end but it is just the perfect amount for me, if I needed another two I would probably have other thoughts.

1 out of 5 eggsDX58SO

Pros: Looks fancy.

Cons: Had a chip fry on the board after 1 month of use. Internal temp was never an issue, how it happened I don't know. RMA process has been slow, horrible, and misleading. After making it out like I'll be getting a new board sent to me while I sent out my 1 month old board, I get to find out I have to pay full retail price for a new board. Never buy intel motherboards, or intel products if you can help it.

Other Thoughts: Cheap motherboard, look elsewhere.
