5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive reliable board

Pros: It works as advertised. Layout is good. It's a very basic motherboard for a very basic computer. Includes a 1GBs Network port and 16x PCIe. It's stable and reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got this board to build an HTPC using spare parts I had laying around. I did pair this with an ATI HD5570 video card and an Intel e6550 CPU I had laying around. Works excellent!

1 out of 5 eggsdo not buy

Pros: Functions

Cons: I used to work at a computer shop, and this is by far the worst motherboard I have ever worked with. It doesn't come with a full paper manual (even though it's a "boxed" motherboard). The SATA ports are in the way of the graphics card (admittedly I am using 9800 GTX with this motherboard, which is larger than a lot of graphics cards). There is apparently no way to disable the annoying and startling beeps at POST (sounds like a smoke detector). Spend the extra $20 and get an ASUS board, you get what you pay for.

3 out of 5 eggsDo not have the right CD/DVD Drive

Pros: Made by Intel and did not arrive in a white box. Very Nice!

Cons: Did not know that I needed a SATA CD/DVD in order to use. Could not sort out how to connect my standard CD/DVD to the mobo although the standard CD/DVD connection is shown in the instructions.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks, but one annoying quirk

Pros: Fairly painless install, works as advertised.

Cons: Wasn't quite plug-and-play -- had to install drivers to get ~3 onboard components to function once in Windows.

I have never liked SATA connectors in that corner of of a mobo as they tend to be a pain to work with when you have multiple HDDs you need to connect.

Other Thoughts: If you don't have a keyboard connected, it won't even post out of the box, which caused me to immediately think I had a faulty component I'd have to troubleshoot.

So if the first thing you do after your build is to turn it on with the case open, make sure you have a keyboard connected ;)
