4 out of 5 eggsGood board, BIOS hell

Pros: This board is solid. I've had it in my media center for over a year without any issues, except...

Cons: I bricked the board with a BIOS update by flashing the recovery file from the Intel download as the primary BIOS. I was able to boot into recovery mode (hold reset while powering on) to flash a trailing BIOS then the primary BIOS. It really shouldn't be this complex. I've owned Gigabyte dual-bios boards and appriciate having a backup BIOS and all (something I'd never use unless the BIOS got messed up somehow, which would never happen if the flashing proceedure weren't so complex only BECAUSE there are two BIOS banks...sigh)

Intel needs to work on their flashing proceedure. It's ridiculous me being a 20-year veteran technician and electrical engineer could make this kind of mistake.

4 out of 5 eggssaved the day

Pros: I had to drop in this motherboard to replace an ASUS one which had severe problems with a certain USB-powered signature and display pad for credit cards. Apparently this one has better power handling and is more tolerant to unusual electrical feedback or something becase it's operating perfectly.

Cons: As is the norm with Intel, this thing requires an absurd amount of individual drivers for each individual little part. Since this was a motherboard swap, I noticed that 44 different devices were detected and installed, quite a few with really bulky drivers. But hey, it all worked and didn't have much noticeable system overhead so whatever.

Other Thoughts: Seems very well designed and constructed overall.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel: Excellent

Pros: Great motherboard for my first build. Easy to install and set up. Have always been happy with Intel products and this board is no different. Running with an Intel Core i5-2500K with stock heat sink and all is running cool and well.

Cons: As others have said it would be nice if there were more case fan connections on the board. No biggie though, I just connected what I needed to the power supply.
The rear case plate is quite flimsy but works OK.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with my first DIY desktop - Many thanks to Newegg for their great prices, helpful reviews, and excellent DIY videos!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Decent budget board when they work.

Cons: I have purchased two of these boards and one is DOA. Very disappointed as I have to pay for return shipping to Newegg. I may go else where for future builds.

1 out of 5 eggsMotherboard fried. no warranty.

Pros: Worked acceptably, for a few months.

Cons: computer shut off during operation. upon reboot, a chip burst into flames.

Intel claims this is not covered under warranty, and is 'user-caused physical damage'.

after, of course, taking a week to even get back to me.

Other Thoughts: Not buying Intel again. sigh.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Will update when new board arrives.

Cons: Board was DOA. First Intel board I have ever purchased. I RMA'd it and will update this when the new one arrives. Not sure I like that newegg is charging me for for return shipping. That adds 10% to the cost of this board plus 2 weeks in turnaround.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pretty much what you expect for that price on a motherboard. It's a good catch !

Cons: None I can think of right now.

Other Thoughts: Just be carefull. I choose this motherboard quickly, after I needed to change it from a build out of a compatibility problem. I didn't double check everything and... This board doesn't have video chipset! :) So be sure to order a video card with it too !

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard for the Price

Pros: Very Easy to Setup, everything is CLEARLY labeled in a bigger than normal font, constructed of mostly solid capacitors, Has USB 3 & SATA 3 (6 Gbps), should be robust and reliable being a tried/true chip-set built by Intel with an Intel Chip-set, for an Intel Processor. Takes DDR3, which is inexpensive for large quantities i.e. 16 GB for just under $60 with rebate, and it HAS A MOTHERBOARD DIAGRAM STICKER to put in the case for later reference! You still get 4 memory slots on a MicroATX board!

Cons: It won't do SLI or Crossfire, which will keep the gameers away. Like pretty much every other board supports DDR3 1333 (was sort of hoping for 1600 support).

Other Thoughts: It is Micro ATX, which makes it easy to handle manipulate in your case when you screw it down in position.
