Easter egg hunt
- Pros: - Massive overclocking headroom
- Crossfire - High overclocks are stable
- Cons: - Bios updates don't fix anything
- Replacement bios THAT I BOUGHT doesn't work - Lan port is now dead since purchase in Feb. 08 - Hex 8.b. happens after a while that hangs PC, switching GPU A to slot #2, it still doesn't work. Switching to GPU B in slot #1 boots it up, but then it's the same nightmare all over again forcing me to swap GPU's all the time. - Changing any settings in the bios works for about a day or two before it locks up permanently until you clear CMOS - System hangs 50% of the time when booting from standby
If you don't want a giant headache, go with ASUS or EVGA. The board performs incredibly but it's sad with all these kinks.
- Other Thoughts: With an XClio 380-Plus case, ventilation is not a problem, placement on the board is excellent, 2900 Pro's do not contact RAM slots, need to wrap my PCI-E connectors around the chassis support twice to get everything in snug but that's not abit's fault. PWM's reaching 70c+ overclocked or not in a case with a 250mm intake, 250mm blowhole and 360mm side intake is a concern but does not impact performance.
Really wish Abit would've gotten this board right. Had experience with the IP35-Pro which had identical quality to this board. Disappointed about the missing fan clips. Sending the board back for RMA tomorrow - hopefully I won't get stiffed with a bad replacement; you'd hope they would get the kinks worked out with their repair plant after having experience with the board issues for so long...
Problems
- Pros: Great design, cooling is amazing, all connections are where i need them, overclocks easier than anything ive ever seen. Did i mention its FAST?? (When i can get it running, that is).
- Cons: About a week ago, i bought a 4870. After installing the card the computer would'nt post at all. I did some searching online and found that this motherboard has issues with the E8400 processor (of course) and the 4870 being in the first PCI-E slot. Supposedly there are voltage issues within the motherboard, i know its not my card and i know for a fact it isnt my enermax PSU (i have tried various psu's with the same result). But thats not all, my onboard LAN also stopped working. I get no lights whatsoever, and the hardware isn't even detected (yes it is enabled in the BIOS).
- Other Thoughts: Anyway, if it were'nt for these minor glitches i'd be extremely happy with this board. I'm currently in the process of getting it replaced. Whether it be exchange or RMA. I've updated BIOS to the latest revision, checked ram. When this thing gets up and running its fantastic, super fast, super cool and runs great. ABIT just needs to figure out these minor glitches before releasing something like this into the market.
When you pay $2xx for a top of the line motherboard you kind of expect it to work with what its supposed to work with, when it doesn't its majorly disapointing..
5 STAR MOTHERBOARD
- Pros: GREAT MOTHERBOARD RUNS SMOOTH,COOL WITH ZALMANSUPER GREESE APPLYED TO ALL CHIPSETS
- Cons: NONE
- Other Thoughts: I WOULD BUY AGAIN
