5 out of 5 eggs7 years and still going strong

Pros: Used this board in a custom build in 2007. Worked great! About 5 years ago I turned it into my media server and it has never had any problems that a reboot could not fix

Cons: It's hard to think of any. I kind of wished it had more SATA ports, but for 7 year old board I cannot complain.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome mobo even after 4 yrs

Pros: Runs alot of apps and too many appliances off the PC to write here and still quite stable. Oddly, in 4 yrs of owning it, I got three BSOD's in a 2 weeks period after I installed the free zole alarm. Got rid of it and no more BSOD's

Cons: Wouldn't mind more USB's, like another 4 - hmmm...

Other Thoughts: WIsh it supported more memory standards than just ddr2 800 - no cons really for me on this board so far

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased with this mobo

Pros: Love the onboard everything... which I guess most mobos these days are doing. Had to have Firewire, though, which not all come with. Also, had to have Nvidia to take advantage of the Linux drivers, and the onboard NVIDIA GeForce 6100 video chipset was just the ticket.

Cons: None as far as I am concerned.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy this mobo again without hesitation. Dropped in 2 GB of dual channel DDR2 800 SDRAM and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor CPU. Running Mepis Linux and it's flawless... loving it. Tried an add-on NVIDIA based card that had better performance but it failed after only a week, so I went back to the onboard video and I'm actually perfectly happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty solid.

Pros: Multiple firewire connects, has been quite stable, Fedora Linux liked it for the most part (still haven't gotten the firewire to work, but that's my fault I'm sure, not the motherboard's). Price was good for the things you get. Onboard video in the case that you need a backup if your REAL board dies.

Cons: Too few fan connections for my taste, but luckily most of my fans have the option of normal 4 pin power connetion. The north bridge does get warm, but not too bad since I don't use th onboard video.

Other Thoughts: Great for the budget build.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The motherboard is ok when it works

Cons: had boot up prob with Ram sticks in Slots 1 & 2 , moved to slots 3 & 4 boot ok. RMA motherboard, new one the onboard sound is dead, had to install a sound card. Also have second board and the memory slots 1 & 2 are going out also.

Other Thoughts: These boards might need to beckecked by Gigabyte. Surely I wouldn't have gotten the only bad two

4 out of 5 eggsGood Choice (almost a 5 egg)

Pros: Lots of features, so you may not even need the 4 PCI slots. Cool and Quiet support really reduces noise due to CPU fan. You can also use it to controls the case fan. My case fan comes on at about 30 deg C motherboard temp. Plenty of extra headers for additional USB and Firewire ports.

Cons: The NB runs too hot (even hotter with a PCIe graphics card - go figure!) so I ended up having to add a 40mm x 10mm chipset fan . I put a 150 ohm resitor in series with the fan so it runs at about 2.5k rpm which makes it inaudible but effective. Only one IDE - I'd rather have the 2nd IDE instead of the floppy. SATA light blinks w/o disk activity.

Other Thoughts: Easily upgraded BIOS to F6 version via floppy. I have two of these boards, one running a stock 5200 X2, and the other runs my 5000 X2 Black Edition at 3.0 Ghz by changing the multiplier. CPUs idle below 30 deg C on AMD stock 4-wire fan w/ heatsink. Both PCs a really quiet.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: good price, some overclockability, easy to understand bios

Cons: only 1 IDE slot, hidden ram overclock option in bios requires you to press Ctrl+F1 which isn't in the manual, i'm not sure if it's just me but i couldn't OC the fsb past 214mhz stable

2 out of 5 eggsGreg - RMA Update

Pros: First board was DOA, but then the RMA board came in and booted up nicely. Good board layout, color coated and the instructions were pretty straight forward. Nothing too complicated for the average user
Well like I said earlier and in my previous review first board was DOA.

Cons: BUT the 2nd board could not get the Ethernet adapter to work at all. The driver CD scans the configuration first then selects the drivers you need to install based on the scan results. Well with the LAN not working, it wouldn’t give me the option.

With that, updated drivers, onboard LAN was DOA. Nothing worked with it so I was forced to purchase a PCI Lan adapter.

Other Thoughts: Would have been a nice board without the problems. First board was DOA, and then the 2nd board LAN was DOA. I have been a fan of Gigabyte for a few years, but this experience has left somewhat a sour taste in my mouth. I am starting to question their product quality

5 out of 5 eggsInstall it and away you go.

Pros: Had no problems matching the motherboard to the mounting holes on my 5 year old case. Easy set up with the new SATA Seagate HD, 2 IDE DVD burners. Glad to see it still had a floppy drive port as I still have need for it's use. I am not interested in overclocking this one. Just want an up to date, stable system and I got it. Drivers were up to date on the included CD and they installed without a problem. Running 24/7 for the past two weeks without a hiccup.

Cons: None. Got exactly what I wanted at a good price.

Other Thoughts: Order took a little over 7 days to receive. Usually get items from Newegg within 4 days. Probably slower shipping due to the holidays.
