excellent
- Pros: i've loved this board. 2.4 duo-core, 8600gt, corsair 2gb ram etc. works very well. placement of things on the board works for me, haven't had any cramped areas (though i don't use the IDEs so who knows.)
- Cons: the overclocking controls are a little tricky to use. (took a bit of work to get ram oc'd to 1066) and only one pci-ex16 could be a problem (thought sli was stupid then i bought crysis....)
- Other Thoughts: if i had thought i would use sli i'd have bought one with 2 pci-ex16 slots, but aside that everything else works great. audio is great, vista-32 drivers are perfect
Great Value
- Pros: Great features for the price. I bought this board to replace a GA-965P-DS3 that had problems.(see other thoughts) Compared to the 965P, this board has more rear USB ports, more SATA ports, more fan headers, and overclocks just as well, if not better. (haven't had much time to really push it yet)
- Cons: If the positions of the IDE and floppy drive connectors were reversed, this board would be perfect.
- Other Thoughts: I really liked the 965P, but it started acting up when I added a tower CPU cooler with a back plate mounting system. (Noctua NH-U12P) Unfortunately, the 965P has too many pins protruding from the reverse side of the board that can short out if your cooler uses a back plate. The P35 still has some solder joints in that area, but they are lower and smoother with no pins protruding through the solder. Just to be safe, I still put some electrical tape on the side of the back plate that touches the motherboard and all is well so far.
Works well
- Pros: No problems installing it. Works pretty well with Vista. Sleep mode has no problems waking up over and over. 8 USB ports in the back and two in the front are real nice. The manual is relatively clearly written. All SATA ports are AHCI/RAID.
- Cons: None I could find yet.
- Other Thoughts: Remember to set the IDE drivers to AHCI if you want the modern SATA features and have a driver floppy or stick ready.
