Pros: Much better than the Abit I bought for my HTPC. The Abit had multiple boot problems, as well as stability. Benchmarks post faster also.

Cons: None, good board for the price.

5 out of 5 eggs3 IDE PORTS &4 SATA PORTS

Pros: THIS BOARD IS $xxx And has many of the features the big dollar motherboards have. 3 ide ports (6 ide devices), 4 sata prorts, handles overclocking, dual core 2x2 cpu's, pc 5300 memory!, just so sweet!

Cons: needs 4 more sata ports?

Other Thoughts: if you're looking quality at a working man's price, then you need to invest in a real motherboard. don't buy a celeron piece of garbage to put on it. but the intel 775 940 3.4 2x2 cpu. it's worth every cent!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid choice

Pros: Easy, safe, and stable overclocking. The board has a good layout. The underside of the board in the processor area is smooth and conducive to HSF's like the Zalman 9550 with their screw-on brackets, no dremel required.

Cons: Not really a true "con", since it's clearly stated, just be aware that this board will not support Core 2. Currently, the d960 is as high as it goes.

Other Thoughts: Cedar Mill / Presler owners, verify your bios version to be at least F10 for accurate temperature reporting. Earlier bios revisions will under-report cpu temp by about 40c, which can be disastrous if the cpu fan is being controlled by this erroneous reporting. I recommend setting your cpu fan to it's highest always-on setting at initial bootup (not automatic or temperature controlled) until the bios version can be verified and upgraded. The instructions in the many posts below re: gigaraid, should be followed in non-raid installations, ie: turn it off.
When using both pata/sata drives I find the "enhanced" combining option works well. You need to hit ctrl-f1 in bios setup to access the advanced options. I had to manually set my memory timings, which were incorrectly detected by spd, ymmv.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overall this board is very good and I am quite pleased. It's able to be configured to support everything I need. I called their tech support and actually talked to a human in < 5 min who actually had a clue and was extremely helpful!!! That right there is worth the price of admission!! This is also easily the heart of the fastest system I've built to date - and I have built a few....

Cons: 2 cons - a) I'm using IDE H-drives and during boot it needs to scan the IDE bus which takes 15 to 17 seconds but once booted the system fly’s like the wind. b) This system has 3 IDE busses but optical drives can only be used on bus 0, This is only an issue if you have multiple hd's and multiple cd/dvd drives where you would normally split them up. I have dvd 1 & 2 on bus 0, hd 1 (boot disk) on bus 1 and hd 2 on bus 3.

Other Thoughts: I do recommend this board. It has built in RAID and SATA support which I'll use some day. The built in audio is also better then expected as well!

4 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: This board has many nice features for a very reasonable price. Stable and feature rich bios.

Cons: Lan drive is a bit flakey. I'd manually install this sriver and not use the install program that cam on the CD.

Other Thoughts: Combine this board with some Corsair Value RAM and a Pentium D processor. You end up with a low cost, stable, upgradeable well performing foundation for a system.

4 out of 5 eggssolid

Pros: Well-built and for the most part well thoughtout Gigabyte mobo... Excellent award BIOS as usual.

Cons: Reasonable overclocker for amateurs like myself, but lack of voltage options and custom DDR2 timings is not good... Absolutely atrocious place for the 12+ connector...

Other Thoughts: very stable operation, no annoying quirks as with cheaper boards...

4 out of 5 eggsRMA.

Pros: Looks nice. BUT DEAD.

Cons: CAME DOA. I now have to deal with gigabyte. There service is horrible and returning an rma to them is a trip on its own. Been over two weeks no new board as advertised by them. There are many horrible stories with rma's all over the internet. So if you have a rma with gigabyte its like flushing money down the toilet.

Other Thoughts: I Do not think I will ever buy another gigabyte product after this experience. There customer service is horrible.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so nice

Pros: Price, raid, beefy 3 phase power, good layout, HD audio

Cons: passive cooling on northbridge doesnt seem to keep up at normal speeds. Intel ICH7R chip has no method of cooling at all. Gigaraid system is slow and doesnt play nice with OS install

Other Thoughts: Build it again - Add larger passive or active cooling to the northbridge add some cooling to the ICH7R chip. Dont hard solder the bis to the board or add your dual bios. FIX THE RAID! and work out the OS bugs so we all dont have the make a floppy each time I reinstall - Will RMA this and get somthing more compatable.

4 out of 5 eggsInconsistent Compatibility

Pros: Price, has 4 DDR2 slots, fast chipset.

Cons: The box/newegg clearly states that it supports DDRII 667MHz and FSB 1066MHz, but it does not. It only supports FSB 800MHz and DDRII 533MHz. I only found out when I plugged in my PC5400 667MHz memory and went into BIOS to find it was underclocked to 533MHz. Read the official site FAQ on this model for more info.
